I was in the same situation as you, I did not notice this problem with the camera until Sunday, most of my pictures were taken during day time and they were fine, until I start taking pictures on Sunday at night time, using the zoom... Then I noticed that 4 of 20 pictures were blurry.

Picture at night time with the zoom... Have a very high probability of being blurry (and even those you think arent't probably are to some degree, the movement is just lost in the noise) unless on a tripod even with a real camera. But, you seem to be sarcastic here so, hey ;-). You know you got this problem if some or most of your daylight pictures are blurry.

thats funny mine literally starting shaking and getting blurry about a week and a half ago, I set an appointment with an apple store, and they replaced mine in about 45 minutes. Was hoping for a phone replacement but they just fixed the cam and I was on my way.

Thanks for this. I was wonder what the process is, how long etc. I did the pre order last Sept, it came 9/24 and mine is eligible.

Even though the camera seems to be ok...I wonder if it will eventually fail(?). I almost have the feeling of "it's it's not broke, don't fix it." Shots in well lit situations appear fine - very sharp photos, In low light with no flash- unless I do a AE/AF lock - yeah I will have a pretty lousy shot, that's understandable. How is the new camera working for you?

Some have said they got a new phone..if that is the case, then I'm ok with that! One issue I am having is the phone feels very warm at times, battery life seems to drain faster (last time this happened was LAST Summer with my iPhone 5) If I do a hard reboot, it seems to correct itself.

Little turned off about that issue last year, Apple Store rep said "there was nothing wrong with it, a screen replacement will cost $270"- by this time the screen began to bulge. Took it to a 3rd party iFixIt store and it the clerk immediately identified the issue, the battery, it looked like a balloon ready to pop. THEN Apple came out with battery replacement program 2 weeks later SMH!

if its foggy it sounds like condensation might have started forming inside the lens. That's not normal unless you've dropped it in water. I would take it in if its still under warranty and have them check for water damage. If none is found then they should replace it free of charge. If it's not under warranty then the cost of a back camera might be about $60 but it beats a whole new device!

Thanks for the tip. As near as I can figure, the only "water" it's been exposed to is when I sweat from walking in the heat we've been having lately. I have, on occasion, pulled the phone out of my pocket and found condensation on the screen. I guess maybe some of that infiltrated into the FaceTime camera. Oh well, it is out of warranty and it's not worth it to spend $60 when I'll be picking up a 6S in a few months anyway. Like I said, bugger.

Tried wiping the lens cover?

I am quite compulsive about keeping my screen clean. I hate blemishes, smudges and dirt. Another pet peeve is that the screen has some dark spots. I'm wondering if I have a high number of dead pixels.

Update: I just remembered that there has been a gap in the side of my display for a while, possibly due to bending from being in my pocket. Those dark spots could be dust/lint infiltration from my pocket. Also could explain the fuzzy FaceTime camera image, while the iSight camera has no fuzziness at all.

Do they really want to do this all the time? I mean have a forum where people can see how they replace a camera into the device? shouldn't they make sure that nothing is defective before releasing such an item?

I was worried about a Genius in the store opening up my phone to replace the camera. I contacted Apple support through online chat on Sunday, and they shipped me a replacement 6 Plus: no fuss or arguing, and they didn't suggest that I take it to an Apple Store. It arrived two days later. Easy return: I just have to put the old phone in the box and use the return label that Apple provided.

Apple should've given those customers a compensation such as $100 GC or something.. Because that's a huge investment at least $800 with tax. And many people buy 6+ just because of its camera features.. And obviously these people are using a defective camera since then.. Also its not an internal error which does not affect the customer I think this is huge and Apple is getting away with that..

Decisions...decisions..I live about 100 miles away from the nearest Apple store and I'll be traveling to that area in a week. My camera is not exhibiting the blurry photo issue..yet. Just wondering if I should take it in next week or just take a wait and "see" attitude?

I went to the Apple Store on Friday asking about this replacement program, the one "Genius" had no clue about the program until another one came in and had to help - even though my S/N is eligible, "Every photo must be blurry in order for a camera replacement." And it "must go through a 'diagnostic test.'" And "your serial number must be valid for the camera"...as he was walking away. (I already said it was, showed them the screen shot I took from the website)

After a quick look from another rep visually he stated "you're camera is fine..." Ok, I admit I'm not having a blurry issue on every shot - so no real complaints about that - yet. Kind of turned me off getting some runaround, I get the place was packed with moms, kids, teens..they were busy - So I just stated "If I run into a problem, I'll be back." This particular location in the Willow Grove Mall, just outside of Philly, no idea who they are hiring but this location has been a let down with any slight issues I've had with my old iPhone 5 and now this..

I used to deal with another location in Ardmore, PA - again just outside Philly. They were always top notch.

No, they haven't. The camera took fine pictures (despite the fault), until the part stopped working; then the pictures become so blurry you'd notice straight away. Better reread about this issue before commenting.

Having the serial number, doesn't mean you'll EVER have the issue. There could be 1% out of that batch that has the issue, they just can't pinpoint it further. That's why they're not replacing all the cameras, which risks introducing other issues and would be useless for many.

That is what the one rep said, that a very small amount of phones are affected out of millions. AND I did have the mindset of "don't 'fix' it if it ain't broke" I think I was just more turned off at the attitude I received.

The whole issue might be a moot point in a few weeks - depends if ATT has a plan that I can upgrade to 6S+ - without some silly penalty (Im stuck in a grandfathered unlimited contract until 9/2016). Looking at my bills just in the past 6 months, I don't use massive amounts of GB data..Photos I take I simply download them to my computer using iPhoto...I do use Instagram and that really isn't huge data. I text..and still I'm way under 1GB month data right now (Years ago I used a LOT more monthly data, not the case anymore) So I could even get my bill dramatically lowered with a much lower data plan. No idea, I'll see the carriers mention about potential upgrade plans in 11, 12 days.

Are you near an Apple Store? Did you voice your concern?

Better think before typing..

These units are defective whether you noticed or not. They are defective even you did not take a single photo..

There are many (and I mean many) people (I'm one of them) complaining about the issue since Day 1. That means 11 month of use of which needs a compensation big time.. The cheapest 6 + is $800 with tax and I personally paid about $1100 and the camera was one of the main reason to invest that much money on that.. Why, because Apple still makes a ton of advertisement about their camera and people trust them..

Read what it says below ;)

iPhone 6 Plus users have been complaining of blurry photos since shortly after the device first launched in September of 2014.

So I eventually took mine in today, and they actually replaced the camera... Not the iPhone... I was surprised at first they were not replacing the whole unit. At least it's fixed now and photos are better than ever... Can't wait for the iPhone 6S!!! Hopefully I can get a preorder in

Hi! Where I live the nearest Apple Store wasn't an option, so I mailed mine in on August 25th. I was beginning to feel like it was taking a long time, but there was a long weekend in the middle of everything. However, today I just received my 6+ back and they didn't fix the camera, they replaced the whole thing! "After thorough diagnostic testing, it has been determined that a replacement iPhone is necessary." is what was written on my AppleCare Service papers. I just thought that was interesting because I certainly wasn't expecting that! :)

Send mine in for repair and received a new one. Maybe issue was not resolved with just the camera replaced.

Juat came of the phone with Apple Uk they are sending me a replacement iphone and i have to return mine within 10days they have put a hold on my CC which will be released once they have received my old iphone

I expalined i needed my phone for work and could be with out so have agreed to send a new iphone well happy and pleased with the service . And even though a few days out of warranty have not charged me the £29 fee

This is what happened to me as well (except mine wasn't out of warranty). I had only very occasional camera problems but they didn't hesitate in sending me another iPhone (supposed to be here tomorrow). I was told it would either be new or "like new".
Pretty happy about that, nice to start out with a new or near new battery as well. I suppose it worked out this way because I don't have an Apple store within hundreds of kilometres of where I live. I guess if an Apple store were nearby they would have simply replaced the camera unit alone.

Are apple actually replacing camera modules or the whole phone?

As I have made another thread about a loose screen/ slight bend... But also my phone is eligible for the camera replacement.

Wondering if they are just going to swap out the phone. It's a 6+ that's about 9-10 months old

Well, as I said in my post above your's (and reading others as well), it appears if you are near an Apple store and bring it in, they will replace the camera module only.
However, if you are not living in reasonable distance of an Apple store they seem to have been replacing the whole phone. They ship you a new one out, and when you get it you ship them back (prepaid) your old one back.
Not sure about the "bend" you say you have in your phone. I know when I talked to them they did ask me about the condition of the phone to be returned (water damage, cracked screen, etc.).
Anyway, one thing when they exchange phones this way; they will want to put a hold for the value of your phone on your credit card to ensure you return your old unit.

Found this thread when searching for answers about my iPhone 6+'s sudden onset inability to focus past the 6-8" range. I live four hours from the nearest Apple Store, so I sent my malfunctioning, totally immaculate iPhone 6+ in to get its camera replaced, only to be told that it was being sent back to me without any service because they had determined that it wasn't affected (even though it takes badly blurred pictures past the 6-8" range, AND is in the list of potentially affected serial numbers). That didn't work for me, especially when I have almost two years of AppleCare+ on that phone.

I have spoken to ONE helpful supervisor at Apple, but they have still done nothing other than *say* that they would be replacing my phone. They have not shipped it yet or put a hold on my credit card (which they said they would do before sending a new one). I'm not happy with Apple over this incident. I'm starting to wonder if they are really planning to do anything at all. I have blurry pictures (which I have emailed to two supervisors), AND I have offered to go to ANY local business (like my Verizon store that sold me the phone) to have someone verify that I have again (3x) done a factory reset without the problem being solved. I've always had top notch service from both my Apple products AND customer service in the past, but they stink on this one--totally, completely STINK.

The real effect is MUCH more severe than that, basically blurry at any distance.
There may be some other issue, but it's not that one.

Focusing close is much harder than far (since depth of field is so small).
That's why again, this probably isn't the problem mentioned here.

Try to do the shot in broad daylight to see if there is a difference.
Since focusing is a lot easier in good light.

Again with this issue, there would be problem to focus even in very good light.
You could try to use a flash to see it makes a difference.

Use a tripod and do the same shot with one of your friends with a similar phone to see what the problem is.
Low light shots suffer from blurriness from high Iso? (also makes it harder to focus)
(causing a decreased resolution)
Are you using the stock camera app?
