Can anyone comment?

When a new music store comes online from another country - does it add more songs to the iTunes US library? And are most all songs that are available in the US library - also available internationally?

Good for Japan-good for Apple! The ITMS has become a huge music empire! Who'd ever thunk it?

Yet again I lament the stupid walls between "national" stores... I can see the store, but I'm not allowed to *buy* anything!

Doesn't anyone understand how dumb this is on a global network? How long do individual licensing agencies think they're going to be able to impose artificial boundaries like this?

Couldn't agree more!

And what's with Sony allowing iTMS to open in Japan but not in Australia?

Couldn't agree more either! I'm still shocked! (well, not really shocked, but more like surprised. Well, not so much as surprised, but confused, really)

I was just thinking that same thing. I can recommend some really crazy stuff for you guys, but you can't actually download it. >_<

No, but we can listen to the previews! Go ahead and recommend us some stuff!

I know Japan is ahead of most of the world in Time-Zone, but daaaang.

Well, this proves that Mac OS wins the war against Windows and Linux! We got a screenshot of a the future to prove it!
;)

I think Sony really, really want WMA in the store because their devices need it to play protected content. Once that's there it'll be a task of making iTunes sync with Sony's devices, although I'm sure there will be fisticuffs in the offices of Apple should this be brought up.
Sony want to cut into iPod's "Able to effortlessly sync with the jukebox that works" game, we get to be the lethargic, petty, expendable battleground.
Joy.

Reuters Video's Business channel has a rough cut of the launch with a bit of Beck, Steven Jobs talking and then some B-roll. They'll probably have a full report by mid-afternoon.

I don't know if this will work, if not the go to http://tv.reuters.co.uk , open up the business channel and it's in there.

EDIT: There is a report actually, right next to it.

"SonyBMG wants Apple to increase the number of digital formats supported by the store. This includes WMA and Sony's own ATRAC formats."

LOL! This is just too funny, the way Sony think they're still in control... WMA and ATRAC.... LMAO. :D

They can put their Memory Stick, Universal Media Disc (UMD) and ATRAC where the sun don't shine.

My doubt

I don't know it, but if you have a international Credit Card you can buy at ITMS/USA, can't you? Because I can buy something at Amazon, for example.

Someone can answer me?

Thanks!

I can't believe the released iTMS Japan without Bluetooth. That sucks.

Either I'm not completely awake, or it's a weird Mighty Mouse-related comment...

Your credit card billing address has to be within the U.S. Sorry!

Japan sure is a great market for almost anything electronic (cept the xbox :p ) so that should boost Apple itms sale even more!

By that logic, think if they added China.. wow  ..

Sadly there would only be 12 songs approved for purchase by the Chinese government. Can't have heathen western music starting revolutions you know. It sure would be interesting to see how many Mac users would defend Apple for cooperating with the Chinese govt's censorship program the way Microsoft has.

I want my J-Pop too!!!

Sweet, now when can I buy the flippin japanese songs in the US store!!! ;) I want my J-Pop!

You're not the only one! I spend a fortune on J-Pop, usually having to ration what I can buy because of the costs involved.

Ahhh, I love Japanese pop. It wasn't until I listened to a few samples that it informed me I had to have a Japanese credit card. Boo. :( For all you guys that like J-pop, is it because you watch anime or some other reason? I'm the former and was exposed to it that way.

That's great. Now how about having all the various international iTMSs out there start sharing their "stuff" with other stores. Its asinine that there is so much content out there that the American store can't see. Or content that UK can't see, or Japan. This NEEDS to be Apple's next focus. Get the damn RIAA's of the world to stop being ******s and share their stuff.

if everyone complains about how long ITMS took in various parts of the world, you can bet China will never come, (unless it is local content only)
They have the second largest web user base but with the way the government deals with corruption & copywrite/trademark infringements i would bet it would be an impossibility.

I'd rather rally for China to get their **** together to better control the annual flu issues they give the rest of the world than a ITMS-China.

I dont think Stevie has any connections that way though
