System requirements to work smoothly with 4 "real" track, 1 virtual drummer, 2 synths/keys?

Really excited for the new Track Stacks, that's always been a pain point. Drumkit designer looks nice for doing up demos quickly.

I agree with the skeu UI, but engineers always like shiny knobs, and at least now that there's an iPad Logic Remote app there's some parity there between control surface and visuals. Though "rotating" dials has never made sense to me as a digital UI mechanism.

It looks like there's sadly no mention of OpenCL, which makes me seriously question whether the new Mac Pro will be cost-effective for Logic users.

I've only had Logic Pro 9 for a couple of months (so can't complain to Apple about giving me a free upgrade), so I was just going to stick to 9 for a longer while.
But now I just saw there is a companion iPad app to control Logic! That is cool, and can see how it can make some controls more intuitive. Now I want it!!! :(

Awesome... but honestly I hate the new trend with these dark interfaces and reversed-out letters. I've been a graphic designer for 20 years... and I hate the dark UI's. I have to squint to read everything. Adobe does this too. Not a fan.

At least in Adobe's case it makes sense. The neutral background helps to avoid unintentional color casts. If that isn't a concern then you are free to change the defaults.

This is like... when you have a crush on a girl and after several years she finally give you a kiss and you get all exited! Well, the same thing.

And it comes with arpeggiator!!! 20 years later!!!

Agreed, in most of the Adobe apps I've used as well as Media Composer a user can adjust to an all black letter on white background UI.

I personally don't mind the dark elements, I just need them to give us the option to adjust text size in the overall UI. Not every developer does this yet.

My only complaint is that it forces 10.8.4

A release compatible in 10.7.5 would have been wonderful for all the people still straddling the fence.

$200. Amazing. For those people that just bought v9 for $200... it's still a deal.

Allegedly this opens projects from v5 and on? I'll believe it when I see it working.

Still, happy to see development. Looking forward to see if all the score features work in 64 bit..and if they've mimicked DP with this "arrangement markers" feature. I sure hope so.

I didn't know v9 was only 200. I paid 500 a few years ago.

Never understood how people get so upset when new software is released because they purchased a previous version "several months ago" I could understand if it was within a few days but ostensibly you've been benefitting from the software and just because the new version is out does not suddenly make the old version worthless. Logic Pro 9 is still a fantastic piece of software.

And I never understood why people complain about people complaining. It's their reality, and they're basically saying, dang, wish I waited, this looks better. I'd you bought some Levi's, and the next day they went on sale, you'd probably say the same thing. Geez, I just bought some yesterday at full price!

This confirms the trend: Apple is updating their Pro apps to X one by one. Given the long delay in the launch of an Aperture 3 successor, and signs of life with regular updates to Aperture 3, it's clear that they're rebuilding the app from the ground up.

I'm most looking forward to an Aperture with an iOS companion app as they've done here with Logic Pro X. Sorting and tagging photos is the most tedious part of editing and I'd rather not be in front of my computer doing this. Sitting back on an iPad sorting images or doing so on location by downloading the JPGs to the iPad and then syncing changes to Aperture on the Mac would be awesome.

After much resistance, I was starting to consider the possibility of switching to Lightroom but this release today completely reset my patience and I'm willing to wait it out. My guess: it's coming with the Mac Pro release this Fall when the entire Pro lineup will come full circle.

Huh?

Let me be clear, the author states that he/she would like to see more attention paid to a certain part of the program, of which they almost never use? OOOOOOKay.

Has anyone seen any impressions/reviews that cover MIDI surface compatibility? Specifically Hypercontrol on the Axiom Pro Keyboard? Hopefully it is backwards compatible with Logic Pro 9 surface control maps?

And... I'm not sure why this is SO exciting to people because Apple is VERY late to add them.

It's basic stuff now-a-days.
Because it wasn't before and now it is... having more needed features without having to switch apps is generally considered more convenient. I'm not sure why it's SO important to be a buzzkill.

Wow, virtual Drummer sounds a lot like Jamstix. One of the few Windows-only plugins I'd like to see on the Mac.

No buzzkill intended, just a reality check to let people know that Apple is not always cutting edge as they may believe.

If someone has their buzz killed it may be they were high-on-hype.

Anyway, enjoy!

This is awesome news! I will probably snag this at some point. My Eastwest collection is getting lonely since I've been off in 3D land for awhile.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the dark interface. I'm so glad more programs are switching to that. Its so much easier on the eyes especially on Apple's LED screens. (I was getting headaches using Houdini until I learned how to customize that.)

The grays interface is one of the reasons NeXTSTEP/Openstep was so admired.
