This is a dumb question I know but if I use someone else's computer to check my email (xxxxx@.mac) where do I now go to sign in? There used to be a much easier way to get the the webpage to log in. Where is it now? I don't care about all the iPhone integration crap. I just need to be able to check my email using other peoples computers. Where is the log in screen now? I can't find it anywhere.

agreed...is there another link to the login screen other than me.com???
How are you people logging in?

www.me.com

They fixed the authentication issue i was having, i can login now but get redirected to the placeholder, rather than the 'invalid username/password' error i was getting before, so when it does come up finally, i'll be set.

Question for the non-Leopard users out there still running 10.4.11 - did the Software Update for MobileMe ever appear for you? The only thing that showed up for me this morning was iTunes 7.7. :(

Sorry if this has already been asked - I've been following this post for the past 5 hours and haven't seen anything on this subject...

I thought you were just trying to spell Mail backwards! :)

Yeah, there was already a liam@mac.com, I originally tried to get it but ended up having to add my surname. I was gonna try & get liam@me.com this time around but I missed it. Well done Liam,

Liam!

And I wonder if we'll ever find out exactly what went wrong. It would be interesting to know what the cause/solution was.

Seriously? Not that it matters, but I cannot think of a single disruption in the last 5 years or so. Maybe I just somehow missed the disruptions. I use .mac for my email.
Seriously. I don't know how you missed seeing all of the irate posts on the Apple forums regarding all facets of .mac that have had serious problems, most of them affecting me. Maybe I'm just unlucky, but .mac has been a near disaster for me. I can't imagine a for-pay service with as many problems and outages as .mac has had in my short time with it. In theory it's great, but the reality is much different. If they can't even make .mac work, why should I think that they can make .me (a much more complicated system) work? I am afraid that Apple has grown too fast and they are having severe growing pains.

WOW its now 5 hours late.

Some serious bugs!!!

Surely they got this 100% ready and all they needed to do was upload it to the server??? So why so buggy?

Hopefully they have a lot of servers to sync. If some where running the old .Mac software, the results would be unpredictable.

They may also be testing the service one final time. Things don't always scale from internal -> external as well as you plan. The best laid plans of mice and men, you know.

We all know the stories about how tolerant Steve Jobs is of people who don't provide perfection in their jobs.

Oh to be a fly on the wall in whatever room Steve is in right now.

It won't be so bad if we can get to our email at me.com but the log in screen had better be on the front page of me.com, in large letters and easy to find on that page. I am sick of Apple making things hard to find on their website. I am not going to have the time to search around for what should be a simple log in screen. Apple should make it easy for us. Not cryptic and difficult to find which seems to be the way they operate these days

When it goes up. Its under work at the moment. We keep refreshing, and it comes up every once in a while.

Wait till tomorrow, and you can get in.

new update on apple's support page:
MobileMe Launch 7/9/2008, started at 8pm PT All services except the web apps on www.me.com have been restored, including the following: Mail, iChat, iDisk, Sync, Back to My Mac, and all published pages, including Galleries and iWeb sites. The web apps on www.me.com will be available as soon as possible. As part of the MobileMe launch, www.mac.com has been taken offline at 8pm PT on Wednesday, July 9th.

Very true

But still 11 hours to sync the servers is a long time...maybe there having hardware issues...like us lot trying to log in at the same time!

I'm no expert on this, but I imagine that with the AppStore launch, MobileMe and software updates all at the same time, their servers just might be a bit overwhelmed.
Seriously, I often picture the Apple network guys shaking their heads in disbelief and joking about how we freaks don't have a life and keep refreshing their website during keynotes and product launches... :)
