Exactly - if you don't know your password, how are you supposed to pick up your email? (unless the password is saved in Keychain, which you can find it from anyway)

Well wouldn't you still be able to pick it up via mail.app or outlook on a pc?
I'm not disagreeing that it's wrong, just saying the only way out would be via those 2 options until they realise/get informed of the error.

In order for mail.app or Outlook to talk to your me.com account, it'd need:
* The server address (probably IMAP protocol)
* Username
* PASSWORD

Without your password, you can't retrieve your email and therefore can't retrieve your password reminder :)

What they should've done is send the password reminder to the "existing email address" you set up when you first sign up for the account, but obviously they picked the wrong address.

Of course you can still use option 2 (type in your secret info thing) to reset your password, just seemed funny.

Holy crap! no I did not read every single whining post before mine in this thread, but I can see that this is the place to be today lol.:rolleyes:

Apple rules. This will all turn out ok. :cool:

Damn, you'd think Apple would have a smoother launch. They are notorious for huge physical launches - why not implicate that with a HUGE mobileme digital launch?

Day Before @ 6:00PM - Message Boards/Chatrooms open up on MobileMe homepage

Like 5:00PM - you can sign up for trial/renew

6:00PM - grand launch

Apple really should have marketed and prepared this better.

I've spent ages organising my iPhoto albums, emails, contacts, calendars and bookmarks in anticipation for this (can't sync them to MM until the SysPrefs pane decides it wants to authenticate me).

Suppose it was long overdue, anyway. I wish we still had web access to bookmarks with MM. Maybe there's a way through the iDisk web interface.

Yes even I guess so:D. Hopefully when it does, it's flawless and doesnt fail everyday (Like .Mac)

P.S.: It better turn out fast! BTW... You think Apple will offer us all 1 day free ie: increase one day for paid subscribers of .Mac. That would be nice:)

I tried it two hours ago and got it. Could see my mail, but when I switched to Calendar it froze. When I retried me.com I got the ad page again. I guess I was able to slip in during one of the many "It's UP! ... Oh No I down" stage
;)

What I saw looked nice. Question though. What triggers the update to change the System Preference .Mac panel to Mobile Me? Is it done through Software Update? I have checked a couple of time and only saw the iTunes 7.7 update.

Download, quit mail, ABook, iPhoto, etc. and run to install:

I wonder if they are even still working on it. It's gotta be up by the morning for everywhere else getting it, but NZ & Australia already have it! They have the new iPhones made for taking advantage of MM right now! I just wanna see it go up tonight, and if not, at least something to tell us it's not so we can all go and do our own thing instead of being a bunch of crazies glued to our computers(or is it just me?)

People are getting hysterical. Of course they're still working on it - they're going to be working round the clock until it's up and running as it should have been.

The lack of push is a good thing. Shouldn't be long now.
