The EPIC FAIL continues.

This is the biggest black eye Apple has had in a while.

Glad to see the news appear on MSNBC. I have no sympathy for Apple, since they choose to never give anyone the true story of what's going on. It's either silence or denial, but usually more of the former.

Heh

I couldn't have put it better myself!

Apple.com has a mailing list up that will notify you when me.com is up and running...I don't know if that means it'll notify every time it goes up...or just the last (read: permanent?) time.

Eh?

Give me a break! It's not even supposed to be released yet.
What a bunch of whiners. (or worse)

From the prospective of a network admin I would say it definitely is an epic failure... If you take down .mac and tell your customers your update window is four hours and 24 hours later you fail to bring the new system online, that would be considered a failure.
Keep this in perspective.
If I made a blunder like this at my job, one of two things would happen. 1.) I would be REQUIRED to bring the old system back online for the users.
2.) I would be fired...
End of story

Any word on the remote app working through an Airport express connected to an iTunes library?
Thanks in advance

Hey 007, I did the 2.0 firmware upgrade and downloaded the freebie remote app to the iPhone. It's actually quite slick. The phone gets paired with iTunes in much the same way as :apple:TV pairing (gives a magic code, iTunes recognizes device on network, type in code, et voila, all enabled). Get an iPhone/iTunes like interface to your music library - select a song on the phone, iTunes plays it magically. Yes, you can tell iTunes which "speakers" you want the sound to come out of too (office/bedroom/wherever you have your Express). Pretty darn cool - control the music while you're sitting on the John. Or whatever

bjeff6 - on the money - this is a failure - fanbois are slurping down the Kool Aid

If it's not supposed to be released yet, why is it that as a paying customer, I cannot access products and services that I have paid for PRIOR to something not being released yet, being released!

I've been paying for .Mac for several years now, and I can't use it.

I've been told I'll be upgraded to MobileMe with the launch of the new system. But no where, and I mean NO WHERE does it mention that "oh, by the way, we have the right to shut down the entire system for what ever length of time we chose and not give 2 hoots if you're paying us or not. By the way thanks for choosing to buy .Mac and Apple products and services"...

I think now we have an almost 24 hour downtime. This is totally unacceptable. It doesn't matter if this is a consumer service. Apple shows that it is not capable of managing IT Services...

Would people please stop saying that mobileme is not supposed to be released yet. It IS supposed to be released. The phones went on sale almost 24 hrs ago for goodness sake.

I think it's up for good now!

SERVICE IS UP! I was able to log into the MobileMe service through the System Prefs Panel and sync... I think that is the signal it has finally been restored! So, now, everyone can relax and start the calls to Apple support for some free goodies for the blunder...
I did and I got a free upgrade of extra online storage, not much but it's a start...
Never mind, although I can connect to the server through the system prefs panel, i still can't get to the login screen through safari so i guess it's still having issues...

iDisk Preferences still don't work

The website is still being redirected to the www.apple.com/mobileme site...

It doesnt work yet!

They aren't related. The iPhone release, the app store and .me were never advertised as magically appearing at the same instant. This is a major undertaking, take a chill pill and check in the morning!!

LMAO morning arrives and...... still down!

Can log in through System Prefs though at last and see the account status. With a bit of luck they'll extend the trial by a day or two!

It's up here now, except for the Mail, just like eh... 10 hours ago?

It'll be down in 2 minutes, I'm sure.

And it's down again. I was able to create a gallery though! Wow.

Anyways, can someone tell me if it's possible to use other mail accounts within MobileMe? Can you fetch mail from POP3-accounts? I couldn't find anything in the settings-tab on me.com in the short times that it was up, maybe in the not-working mail-tab?
