I think all the beats too much bass. Don’t think ‘studio’ and Beats go together but lots of companies throw in hi fi terminology for their marketing.
It depends on the type of music you listen to if you like hip-hop, r&b or most modern popular music Beats has the ideal sound profile.

Why comment on things you clearly know nothing about? Higher number doesn't mean newer and better.. Apple W1 is bluetooth, Apple W2 and Apple W3 is bluetooth+WiFi and is not meant for headphones....
Well, to be fair, the W3 has BT 5.0 which has twice the speed, four times the range, and even lower energy usage which means longer battery life. BT 5.0 has been shipping in iOS devices since the iPhone 8/X. Having a W3 chip without WiFi for headphones would be useful and something we're likely to see in future AirPods.

Still trying to pay off that Beats acquisition I guess.
Beats is a cash cow that paid for itself years ago. They were doing 1.5 billion in revenue before Apple bought them.

Apple bought beats mainly for Iovine, Dre and the streaming service. The headphones were a freebie that have since generated billions. An outside the park home run.

I'm not a beats fan but does anyone know of any other decent brand(s) doing something in these types of color palettes?

I don't give a fawk what y'all think, that powder blue and gold combo is *drool*

No thanks.

Still uses USB-A. Switch to Lightning or USB-C for charging.

Still uses Apple W1. Apple Watch Series 3 has W2, Apple Watch Series 4 has W3.
You might be wrong about the wireless chips as the other poster suggested. I don’t know enough to comment about it. But you are definitely right about mini-USB... one of the worst connectors in relative history. Make a decision, Apple, Beats Solo and Studio are either USB-c or Lightning, but pick one FFS. mini-USB on a $349 pair of headphones from Apple heading into 2019 is just lazy.

Who says we can not innovate anymore??..... a quote last heard in 2013.... still waiting for proof that someone can innovate.... lipstick on a pig is not innovation.....

I just ordered a pair of Beats studio 3's. My Master & Dynamic MW60's broke (the microusb port broke a pin). They quoted me up to $300 to repair the broken pin.

Like everyone else, I was not a fan of the "beats" sound, but I listened to a set of Studio 3's the other day in a couple different stores (Apple and best buy) with different music and spoken word sources, and they are good enough for my purposes, and seemed a better investment than putting the money into fixing the M&D's that may break again in 2 years. I think the sound got a lot less bassy between the studio 2's and studio 3's. At least if the beats break I won't feel as bad. And having the W1 auto-switch between my mac, iphone and iPad will be a treat.

Am going to miss the non-plastic M&D's, though :-(

Wow.
I am a fan of Apple but their prices are getting stupid. I mean really stupid.

These headphones cannot possibly be worth this much money. Reviews abound about how Beats in general are just 'meh' in sound quality.

So, the only reason is the name?

With Beats it's always been about the name. They sound cr@p compared to headphones half the price from Sennheiser or AKG.
Why do you think Apple bought them? A product with ridiculous profit margins.
