I think you're on to a great idea here. Instead of sending reviewers new products to evaluate, we should send them old models that are actually broken and ask them to review those.

In other words, I am utterly shocked that you think they're not good headphones, given the ones you tried were old and broken. Shocked.

I believe they are referring to how poorly they held up in 1-2 years, which could be a big deal when making a $350 purchase.

They are most definitely not worth the price. They're plastic, they have a terrible sound signature, and they're dreadful when wired. For the same price you could get something truly amazing.
The top ANC headphones are horrid when wired. These are priced the same as they are, and they are plastic too.

lol the notion that kids still view Beats as a premium brand is hilarious. Kids now view them as old man headphones.

Does anybody honestly buy Beats headphones anymore other than to satisfy some aesthetic appeal?

In my opinion, they feel really cheap and flimsy and the ones I've had in my hands (1-2 years old) were really damaged and half-broken, the cord's isolation all ripped and the hinge feeling absolutely horrible.

Why not invest the same money into real quality headphones from the likes of Beyerdynamics or other similar manufacturers? 350$ can get you some really fine Hifi-gear...
I picked up a pair of brand new Beats X at Best Buy a few days ago for $75. Totally worth it for easy pairing and charging with a lightning cable. I wouldn't pay the full price $149 or $119 for them, though.

I have only used cheap/sub $100 bluetooth head phones before and the beats blow them out of the water.

I also have custom in ear monitors for playing live music (used to be my job), and the beats sound nowhere near as good, but, for every day knockarounds, I'd say they are fantastic.

(Translation: Those are ugly. Here’s an awesome T-Rex.)

With Beats it's always been about the name. They sound cr@p compared to headphones half the price from Sennheiser or AKG.
Why do you think Apple bought them? A product with ridiculous profit margins.
Out of curiosity, which AKG or Senns do you recommend at half the price with the feature set of Beats Studio 3?

Meh, still not buying until they replace that god awful cheap material used in the earpads and earpad covers. I'm yet to see a set of headphones that beat my beyerdynamic 770's, I can wear those for hours, but beats just give me a headache and sweaty ears after an hour or two

I love mine, but it really should have come with USB-C or at the very least a lighting port. Otherwise, they are pretty close to a perfect pair of headphones.

That price tag is a joke, right?

Why? They are competitively priced to similar quality headphones on the market.

Beats is a cash cow that paid for itself years ago. They were doing 1.5 billion in revenue before Apple bought them.

Apple bought beats mainly for Iovine, Dre and the streaming service. The headphones were a freebie that have since generated billions. An outside the park home run.

Agreed people that think beats was a dumb acquisition are such strange creatures. Usually they also think Tim is incompetent.

I clicked through to read the comments even though I know what I’ll hear ranted and raved! That’s right, JUST FOR THE SALTY COMMENTS!!!

Never mind about the butterfly since it won’t show up here! represents serendipity in this context. Maybe I’ll hear a complaint I’ve never heard before in these forums.

Not that I would purchase these...Beats. They’re far more about the style than the kind of sound I like—personal preference—not judging others.

$349 isn't a lot of money for quality headphones. I first listened to a pair of Beats Studio a couple years ago and thought they were really great. However all it did was put me in the market for a decent pair of headphones - so I bought the Sony MDX 1000 which I still contend is superior to the Studio *and* the Bose QC 35 (or whatever their current iteration is named).
