I'm surprised Apple have done this, I still feel battery cases are largely a niche, I certainly don't know anyone who owns one, and I have no use for one.

I had one for my 3GS. After a year, the 3GS started dying after ~10 hours of sleep. If I used it at all, it would die after 5-6 hours. Getting a battery case doubled its battery life for me, back to about as good as it was for the first year.

My 4S didn't have the same problem of the battery having serious problems after one year, so I never needed a battery case for it. 6+ has also been problem free.

My particular 3GS might have just had a defective battery, and it didn't become apparent until I had already owned it for a year.

Should Apple stick with making devices instead of accessories? I like their iPad Smart Covers...

Could be one of those "it's better in person" type of products, but I'm not holding my breath.

What about adding 1-2 mm thickness to new iPhones and having good battery life right out of the box. IMHO unfortunately that case looks ugly.

No thanks. I'd much rather have a thinner phone, as it is now. Then, should I (or others) need more battery capacity, say for making a lot of videos or whatever, it's nice knowing that option is available.

I have no issues at all with current battery life and do not want to endure a thicker phone as a consequence. Apple has found the right balance for most people. That's something Apple does very well overall.

Not that I want to make my 6 Plus larger, but I'd definitely buy one of these over the Mophie - and I like the Mophie.

Make it so, Apple...

I literally face-palmed when I saw this.

Apple: knows there's a problem with lack of battery power and makes ugly battery pack case instead of fixing the source of the problem - creating products thinner than the last year and sacrificing battery size to do so.
There is no battery life issue with the iPhone. If you want extremely long battery life they have a solution, the 6S+. If you want a smaller more pocket-able phone they have a solution for that as well the 6S. The 6S still beats similar sized android phones at battery life and is nice and thin. Adding a millimeter or two isn't going to give you another 5 hours of battery life, bigger batteries means bigger phones (aka 6s+).

Very interesting. As far as design, why not just make the baby bump/battery longer, and make the entire case that width? Maybe then the battery itself could be thinner. What's the point of tapering the top and bottom like that?

And CHARCOAL gray and white? Are you kidding me? Why is it not space gray? Why no gold or rose gold? This really just seems like a last minute gift type of thing to try and get some extra sales.

I'd be much more interested to get see a USB stick external battery from Apple that you could use to get some extra juice. You could just throw it on your keychain or in your pocket and then use whichever phone case you wanted. That way you could charge any Lightning device that you had with you.

For most people according to you. Everyone's use case is different. Personally, I would rather a slightly thicker phone with better battery life. Some of the newest phones (Android and iPhone), to me, are too "brittle" in feel. Solid phones. But I like to have a good grip on my phone. If there was one "aesthetic" I would trade on any phone it would be in regards to power. Fast charging, removable battery or a little thicker.

Battery life is fine for me. The issue is it takes too long too charge. Faster charging would be better imo although obviously you can change that now.
Not sure if someone else has replied already but you can charge your iPhone 6/6s(+) device faster with 2.1 amp 12 watt charger, (iPad charger).

Just another sign of misplaced priorities at Apple. Next thing you know, they'll be parading celebrities around in their underwear to sell garbage like this. Oh wait:

Completely agree. Apple has an unhealthy obsession with phones being thin, even when it compromises battery life and actually makes the phone harder to hold. Did anyone complain about the 5S being too thick? I doubt it.

I only saw the a few comments on this thread, but I don't think anyone has said anything positive about how it looks. What a half-hearted attempt by Apple.

why didnt they make the area bigger, like from camera start to bottom and made it a slimmer pocket?
