For my 2012 MacBook Air, the free upgrade link just gives a 404 error page. Anyone else yet have success participating in the free upgrade program yet?

What a bunch of idiots not being able to get that right. ****ing freaks. And thatb is not because of server overload, that is simply some one not pushing the right buttons. As they pushed the wrong buttons yesterday by launching it too early. You wanna make 38 billion bucks profit and you don't wanna spend money on a few IT guys to get this right?

I am sorry but it irritates the hell out of me. I could have predicted this two days ago, with the off line online debacle of the update form...

Aple should be proud of its product, but it is becoming more and more cocky.

Noob Question Alert :)

Noob question alert: i wont be charged for mountain lion if i keep pressing the purchase button and the error comes up?

I am holding off on buying ML until I hear how it performs on an Early 2008 17" MBP.

To all the people complaining, I have to ask why you're in such a hurry to download this OS? I mean seriously, letting everything die for a day wouldn't hurt anyone.

WOOT downloading for me :) everyone else seems to be having issues. It says its gonna take 7 hours to download though :(. Its times like this I wish we still had physical media.

I think you meant to say "Not a surprise". It's the same each time. Apple do it on purpose to over-egg the demand. They do the same when they release the iPhone - throttle the supply and you have queues outside shops and therefore free publicity.

Actually these days supply is not that bad on launchday I can walk in after school on a launch day-8 hours minimum after launch- and pickup whatever i want in 5 minutes. But wait now your going to say it's because android are taking over and no one wants iPhone anymore.

Seriously Apple can't win against you haters.

Your probably going to call me a fanboy, but really who's the real fanboy, your group of "fandroids" have posted the same rubbish for the last 5 years on these and other Apple/tech related forums regardless of fact, Apple fans are simply spending their own money on stuff they enjoy.

it's not possible to buy an item more than once with 1 apple id....

Well it could go wrong because of glitches etc, but i seriously doubt that. And IF that would happen - apple would just refund the money.

I wonder if Apple would ever consider releasing the updates like this at say noon local time, wherever you are. That way they could spread out the initial hit to the servers. Of course, if you care that much about getting the latest OS in the first hour, you probably know how to fake your location, but it has to still help them out a bit!

People aren't downloading from the same servers. Mine is coming from Akamai which is a content deliver network. They serve WAY more companies than just Apple. They have numerous servers all over the world and tens of GB of bandwidth at each peering location.
