Only took 57 tries...

...but now downloading.

Notice how the blog sites posted the news of ML's availability 2 minutes BEFORE it showed up in the Mac App Store? (At least in my case, that is.)

Mine still says "Downloading" in Launchpad. Anyone else experiencing this? No downloaded %?

EDIT: Nevermind it's showing the amount downloaded in "Purchases". Around 3MB/sec ~ 35 minutes left!!!

The Up-to-Date app isn't working though. Getting the 404 not found error.

For my 2012 MacBook Air, the free upgrade link just gives a 404 error page. Anyone else yet have success participating in the free upgrade program yet?

In Canada, no issues with downloading (yet), it's almost 1/2 way done and it's coming in quite fast (>2MB/s).

why would they do that?

I don’t know, compatibility perhaps? The App Store is the only source for Lion, without it, customers who cannot upgrade to Mountain Lion anymore are stuck with an older system.

My MBP is too old for Mountain Lion and I've held off on going to Lion since Snow Leopard has been just fine for me. Now that iCloud is becoming more mature, I've been considering upgrading to Lion. Unfortunately, it appears that they are still charging $30 for Lion when ML is only $20. I know $10 isn't a big deal, but I was hoping they'd drop it to match ML.

You can upgrade Snow leopard straight to Mountain Lion.

Edit: I can confirm OSX lion is no longer on the app store.

I'll wait until the crazies go away and the servers aren't getting gang banged.

Same here, not a good start

I think you meant to say "Not a surprise". It's the same each time. Apple do it on purpose to over-egg the demand. They do the same when they release the iPhone - throttle the supply and you have queues outside shops and therefore free publicity.
