Here is my experience:

iPhone 6S TSMC / iOS 10.1.1 / sn: xxxQG…
Unexpected shut downs and random battery draining

November 21th - Replacement process started through Apple Technical Support (third option)
November 22th - Received the box via UPS and sent it back to Apple (EU)
November 29th - Received the phone. Apple replaced the battery (0 cycles) and, surprise, the camera (I don’t know if back or iSight. Both working perfectly before sending).

Hope it helps. Will report if the shutdowns or battery drain are still occurring.

The Apple service in my country is no where near as good. I will have to wait several weeks until the battery has arrived then I will have to personally take it to the service provider, leave my iphone there and grab it whenever the battery has been replaced. On top of that their working hours are very narrow and conflict with my own schedule. A real mess.

Apple replaced my phone yesterday because I made a good argument for my suffering after they told me batteries were back ordered by 2 weeks.

Here in NYC, I was told by a Genius Bar representative when I brought my phone in that the earliest they would get in replacement batteries was Dec. 8th. So I am just waiting...

Intersting about Batteries being OOS until late December.

My phone was Delivered to Apple/Checked in on Monday, but did not ship out the same day. (Apple is usually really good at shipping out same day)

I believe I have a call back set up for tomorrow, so I will express my concerns with stores being out of batteries, and ask for an ETA as i'm currently using a Motorola Razr..lol (long story short, I don't trust sticking my adaptor/sim into my jailbroken iPhone 4, and don't want to risk having to take the phone apart if it gets stuck).

Anyone else being told their Apple Retail stores are not able to get replacement batteries?
[doublepost=1480416212][/doublepost]Side note, I don't know if you guys remember when the 6s came out, and there was the drama about which chip you got, and if you got a Samsung or a TSMC chip, the phone I sent back to Apple with unexpected shut down issues was 100% a TSMC.

Well, I'm based in Singapore currently and the service center was out of replacement batteries as well just this morning. ETA was set at around 2 weeks and they mentioned that they would contact us if the batteries get shipped in earlier than expected.

The batteries are OOS at most stores by the looks of it. A lot of people are claiming the issue and batteries are being replaced even is they don't fall into the timescale, as far as I can tell from hearsay stories.

I had the same problem in a 20 month old iPhone 6 Plus, and wanted a battery swap back in June. After an hour wait in a local store, they changed my complete iPhone for me, which was a nice surprise. I sold it a few weeks latter for a lot more than I could have got with the original as it was "as new" rather than with usage marks and scratches :)

Waiting for an appointment, even with walk in, is a pain in the backside, but it was worth it for me. YMMV of course.

Never happened to my 6s Plus 128GB iPhone until the latest iOS. But in the past 3 weeks it has happened 4 times. It died on me twice around 10%, once at 12%, and once at 21%. It does not happen every time as sometimes I can get it all the way to zero. When it has died on me (early on the battery indicator) as soon as I plug it in it restarts and is up to the percentage it was at before (I believe each time)....but definitely not the slow start up when it's absolutely at zero and is getting going again.

Back in the PowerBook days I had this happen to my 17" (1st gen of the 17" ever) and it was blamed on the logic board. They had to replace the entire computer. I doubt this is the battery so I'll wait this out for a bit.
Yup, same here. It just started happening recently & now sometimes the phone shuts down when I get around 15% battery. It's happened 3-4 times this week.

And... my Serial number tested negative on their site. Not one of the ones supposed to be affected.

Stupid...mine is one of the affected, but not accepted in the replacement program. Fail. I suppose I should sell it back to them and simply say the battery is 100% and let them deal with it.

Same here. Mine is not a serial number listed. B/T this and my wifes constant bluetooth and phone signal issues on her new iPhone 7 I'm losing quite a bit of faith in the iPhone product.

$150

lol

I smell class action
For a free replacement service, why would anyone even want to sue? Me thinks you didn't read the article...

Is this repair free? Are we talking about an Apple product?
Yes, the repair is free. The article has all the details of the affected products, together with a link to check your serial number.

Me thinks you didn't read all the comments.

Clearly there are people who are having issues with their phone, but when entering their serial number, are being told they are NOT included in the recall.

Apple can say a "small amount" of phones are included in the recall, but what is a small amount. 1-2
million phones?

Update on my Battery Replacement:

So my phone was received by Apple on Monday, and I got the repaired phone back today (Friday).

Apple not only replaced the Battery, but they also replaced the LOGIC BOARD!!! (as well as removed my screen protector), they also assigned my phone a new serial number. (due to replacing the Logic Board)

I find it strange they didn't just replace the entire phone with a warranty replacement.

Restoring from my iTunes backup, then I plan on testing it thoroughly.

I knew it couldn't have just been the battery! There's no way!

"me thinks" - intentionally condescending, or neckbeard?

also if you read the article you will discovered that many people are not covered for free and are required to pay $150.

It seems like the only mention of a fee was in a reference to the Touch Disease program, which is different than this one.

Gawd, don't get overexcited or anything.

Do people read or does everyone just panic these days?

"Apple has determined that a very small number of iPhone 6s devices may unexpectedly shut down. This is not a safety issue and only affects devices within a limited serial number range that were manufactured between September and October 2015."

Actually, this is a good thing, they are honoring a problem with early 6s iPhones AFTER the warranty has run out. Not many companies do that...if a problem occurs after the warranty runs out, you are usually SOL.

So, if you have AppleCare on your 6s, this would be covered for free, but, if you don't, then apple still takes care of this issue.

I had a day one 6s and it would shut itself down once in a while. One day the phone freaked out and shut down, couldn't get it going again, this was about a month before the warranty ran out. I took it to an apple store, they checked the phone determined a logic board issue and gave me a replacement 6s, no hassles. They have the best customer service in the industry IMO.
If you had read the second sentence of my post, then you would have seen that this happened to me on a Plus model. It is more devices than what they originally were saying. Look at the article today - they are expending it to more phones.

The particular cause of this program seems to be limited to the devices that are mentioned in the program, as for other devices experiencing similar symptoms, it sounds like Apple wants to see if there is something more and/or something else behind it when it comes to those.

Launch day iPhone 6S 128gb experiencing shut downs at 50% battery for several weeks. Handed in the iPhone yesterday for repair under the battery replacement scheme. Walked out of the Apple Store with a new iPhone today, they said the 3D Touch / display was also faulty after they ran the diagnostic test, still nothing to pay! Sweet.

Just joined the forum and i have to say that my iphone 6s plus started to shut down today at 10% and im getting constant notifications that i may get charged for i messages... im from mexico

I just got the battery replaced but is there a way to check whether they installed a brand new one? Unfortunately in my country official service reps are not known to be super professional so I wouldn't be surprised if the technician installed a used one and kept the brand new to resell it.

I scheduled an appointment at the Walnut Creek , CA Apple Store today. When I showed up the Genius Bar rep told me they didn't have any batteries. The rep the went through the process of ordering/reserving a battery for my daughters iPhone 6s which has been powering off when it gets to 30% battery remaining. The rep stated it has been taking approximately 1.5 weeks for the batteries to arrive. Once my battery arrives I will need to return with the phone and they will need approximately 90 minutes to complete the battery repair. I was disappointed as I thought the appointment implied the battery was available. This was ofcourse an assumption on my part but still it was disappointing making a trip that could have been handled over the phone (ordering the battery). I would recommend you call and verify they have the battery before making the trip.

Mine went a couple of weeks without it happening but did so again today. I was traveling and at 50% battery at the airport when it kicked off. Tried turning back on and got the 'plug in' graphic. Tried again and got the apple logo but never came on. It would give me either randomly when I tried turning it on.

As soon as I plugged it in it immediately came on and was at 50%. I didn't charge it any longer and have been using it since w/out issue. They need to add more phones to this. Obviously their initial list doesn't suffice.
