My iPhone XS Max Smart Battery Case quit working in May last year. I contacted Apple and it took several phone calls to get someone to help. When I finally found someone that could help the case was backordered with a shipment date weeks out. I kept calling every few weeks but the shipment date kept getting pushed back. Eventually the senior advisor let me pick out anything in the Apple Store for under $300. I ended up getting a free HomePod and the case ended up shipping the next week. Good luck getting that type of support from any other company.
Part of the reason I don’t bat an eye paying more for Apple products—-the Apple "tax" is for the excellent service.

I don’t understand how y’all didn’t just take it to an Apple store for a swap. Took me all of about 15 minutes.
Not everyone lives around one? 🤨

Another useless replacement program that is another slap in the face to the consumer. Just got off the phone with Apple. The defective case must be taken to an Apple Store. I bought mine online since the nearest store is 300 miles away. It would cost more to drive there than the case is worth. Guess I will have to to deal with another Apple fail.
So, they are not going to take it in the mail?? WTH!

My wife had her's replaced in store about 6 months ago. The original arrived DoA. It's been going strong ever since; looks like hell though.

Personally, I tried one and it's too bulky.

Will take advantage of this for sure. Don’t use mine much partly because it adds more bulk that I want in my pocket, partly because I’ve experienced these issues and don’t trust it implicitly. Mostly pack it as a back up for grip situations. Heck, I’d take a refund as I bought a Mophie Juicepack Air a few months back when they discounted the Xs/Xs Max line down to $25. It gets the job done.

I feel for you, your car must get really bad mileage 😟

my gf has been having this issue but uses her case with her iPhone X, not the Xs, any chance they'll give her crap about that instead of just replacing it?

I’ll let you know tomorrow

I’ve had this issue with my iPhone 8 case. Also, the 7/8 case is not as strong as the 6 case. It’s been cracking and flaking.

Welcome news. I’ve been searching for months trying to find others with my issue. The case will not charge, SOMETIMES, and the phone charges first to 99% but the case doesn’t. In other situations, the case is listed as the product code in the Notification Center instead of “Smart Battery Case”. And as it’s in my pocket it will vibrate like you’re plugging it in over and over. Then weeks will go by where nothing appears wrong, then it happens again.

i can’t reliably reproduce the issue, hopefully they swap it out anyway. This is an XS Smart Battery case.

same here! I was going crazy not finding posts about it :) I have an X and thought that was the issue but everyone was saying it works fine with X. I’m finally relieved. Going to the store tomorrow.

Oh thank god, mine has the issue where it charges it intermittently. And also, something weird happens where it shows the model number name and says “A1921 100% charged”.

Apple support might be able to tell. I think with one of the broken cases, it's pretty apparent when there are issues. Mine just refuses to charge my iPhone sometimes. If issues pop up later, the program runs for two years.
When I first got mine, maybe a month ago I was having a couple of issues with wireless charging almost seeming intermittent. Chalked it up to bad placement on my part. But I have noticed a few times where the battery on my phone is draining even though the battery case has plenty of battery left. Removing the phone and putting it back in usually solved it so that's why I'm curious if I am actually effected.

Is there an Apple authorized service provider closer to your home? If the phone rep said that you can only go to an Apple store, then they were wrong, according to Apple’s support page.

There is a authorized service center about a 180 miles away from here but given the costs of a round trip it’s just not worth it and with the snow not always an easy drive. The senior advisor spent a long time researching the program and said it had to be taken and couldn’t be mailed.

Wow where do you live?? Not even a Best Buy around you? Are you not in the US?

Where are you, Fort Kent?!? lol

If so, what’s Doris’s like since the new owners took over? Mmmmm, the Mooseshack <——Homer voice

It is supposed to be a bad case anyway, because continued charging a full battery.
But I presume most will buy it anyway because of it’s sheer beauty...

Yep, I’ve got this issue. already replaced it once, at least. Ow maybe they have taken care of having a proper functioning version

These are exactly the issues I've been having. Intermittent charging of the case or phone or both. I was going to call in next time I was passing an Apple store but having seen the replacement programme, I've just booked an appointment at my local Apple store for tomorrow afternoon to get it replaced. Thanks for the heads up.
