All this complaining: the double basic Ram is awesome, they can only do so much until Intel gets its **** together, and 90 % of you aren't going to buy either way:)

You need some sleep. They were redesigned 2 years ago.

About the updates...

This is why Apple needs their own solution for their Macs. Say what you want, but Intel will focus less and less and less on such CPUs and does aren't worthy that much anymore.

Apple can't wait. The potential for their own SoC is huge.

The redesign was obviously so insignificant that I didn't notice. I want a change from Silver and Black.

They can't move their pro machines from Intel to ARM. They could buy AMD and develop their own chips but they won't because they don't give a damn about the Mac line any more. Even the CEO says we should all move across to the iPad for our day to day computing.

They'll probably gradually introduce new and larger iPads over the years to replace their consumer Macs one by one. The pro Macs are so insignificant to their sales and profits that they'll keep them with Intel as it's simply not worth the effort to develop their own pro level processors.

The 8GB of ram is nice but the price kind of reflects that, doesn't it? I mean, you're paying for the extra ram, they aren't throwing it in to be nice.

Still loving my three month old rMBP as is. It's as good as any of these new ones. Whatever.

I think the fact the new optional top end CPU for the 15" Model turbo boosts to 4GHZ is craazzzeeee.... 4GHZ, in a laptop as thin as the Mac!!!

But looking at the top spec MB Pro 15", it is pretty much take off the shelf all you want now, can't see many people opting for an extra 300MHZ of CPU clock speed?
As others have said, it's a shame the GPU's are so old now.

16GB RAM standard, price cuts (for the UK at least) and a processor bump. For an iterative update, it's pretty good.

Now just have to wait for Broadwell - hopefully the RAM and price points will stay the same.

Not for anything, but the price scheme on the 13" is a joke.
Upgrading to a 256GB SSD now costs twice as much, which means that unless you stick to the lower capacity drive the price will remain the same.
I have been looking for a (low tier processor)/16/256 setup for a while now and the price is the same for both new and old versions.

Might as well as just buy the "old" one.

WTF Apple? In the Czech Republic prices wen up. For example, top 15" model now cost 200 EUR more, and even the RAM is the same - 16 GB. So, basically it's 200 euros just for 0.2 GHz CPU speed jump!

Nice, the 16GB ram, should stop all the discussion and angst over the ram configuration.

Considering many people use Windows on Boot Camp or Parallels, it would be quite a bold move, wouldn't it?

Nice that you got price cuts, in czech republic the price is almost 150 euros more

Are you sure you're reading it right? In Poland prices have been cut on all models, I think. Maybe it's because polish Apple Store was much more expansive than any other I've seen in Europe to start with.

It's a good trend, because last year prices were cut significantly aswell. In a few years maybe everybody will be able to afford a new rMBP. :p

What redesign? The 2012 version looks identical to the previous version just a bit thinner. Not a new design in my view.

Its thinner lighter and more compact.
Maybe you need a different material than aluminium to make your statement ?
If were liquid metal instead aluminium than it would been different right?

Even Happier with my 13" i7 Retina purchase last week from the refurb store. should do me for the next year at least.

I'd hazard a guess for those who've seen price increases that your local currency is weaker than the dollar at present.

I know in the past when the £ has been weaker than the $ that prices over here in the UK have increased.

Basically the line line just got cheaper. I can now get the 2.6GHz 13" for 100$ less. I wonder what the performance is of that 3GHz model...
