Are you sure you're reading it right? In Poland prices have been cut on all models, I think. Maybe it's because polish Apple Store was much more expansive than any other I've seen in Europe to start with.

I can confirm this: prices went up. Base 13" is now 3000 CZK more (~110 EUR) but got additional 4GB RAM and 200 MHz CPU speed, top 15" is now cost 5000 CZK more (~180 EUR) an got just 200 MHz speed bump.

The redesign was obviously so insignificant that I didn't notice. I want a change from Silver and Black.

They can't move their pro machines from Intel to ARM. They could buy AMD and develop their own chips but they won't because they don't give a damn about the Mac line any more. Even the CEO says we should all move across to the iPad for our day to day computing.

They'll probably gradually introduce new and larger iPads over the years to replace their consumer Macs one by one. The pro Macs are so insignificant to their sales and profits that they'll keep them with Intel as it's simply not worth the effort to develop their own pro level processors.

What makes you think the Intel cross-license survives an aquisition of AMD?

And what makes you think design is all about color? Have you seen the rMBP in person? It's significantly different in design from the unibodies, inside and out. About the only thing that's the same is the color. By your argument, the MacBook air has the same design as the MacBook pro, and i don't think most would agree.

Prices actually went down by $100 on the Non-Retina Version and the Higher End 15" Retina Version, but other than that, prices remain the same.

yes but only for those 2 models...i think in October the Clasic will be gone

That sucks, the price went up $50 in Canada

Check your exchange rate. British pound has got strong compared to US$ recently. But typical human behaviour is that you look at Canadian prices when the $Can is weak, and at US prices when it is strong.

Its thinner lighter and more compact.
Maybe you need a different material than aluminium to make your statement ?
If were liquid metal instead aluminium than it would been different right?

No, but maybe a little change. Don't you think that our beloved Jony has more in his secret design studio? I think there is a lot of prototypes we will never see.

Regarding the current design, it's dated. It's nice and I love it. But maybe there is room for some change and maybe improvement.

- Less sharp corners - maybe something more rounded
- Changed corner around the display - black since 2008 (I am a MacBook Pro only user)
- different colours: at least black or anthracite. I know it will wear and tear but this doesn't kept Apple from producing a black iPhone, a device that experiences more wear and tear than a MacBook.
- anti glare should return (not really a design change) (I often use my machine open air)

Too bad. :/ But it's still cheaper in Czech Republic (example on medium shelf 13" rMBP):

EDIT: So I guess they're trying to balance it worldwide.

I may consider exchanging - if I don't exchange - will I have poor resale value with the 2.4ghz/8 gb ram / 256 gb flash storage.

I usually refresh every 2 years. I've bought a 15'' rMBP high end in August 2012. I'm hesitating to refresh now or wait 1 more year for maybe more drastic changes.
What do you guys think?

Unspectacular.

We will see where the geek bench scores go, but it won't halt the fact that Apple still offers insufficient 128GB drives on ANY Mac. Apple makes a joke of their relatively expensive low-end models. Not a lot of care is being given to their Mac line these days. Chaining themselves to Intel is now a detriment.

Apple should build their own Mac cpus.

Does anyone know what are the international model designations for the updated 15 inch macbook pros? The late 2013 ones were ME293 and ME294

I think its a very solid refresh, despite all the unrealistic demands people here have (32GB and Fusion drive? Really? Educate yourself first before suggesting these ridiculous things).

I am a little disappointed that there is no 850M in the 15" (which means no update for me), but the significant price cut across the line here in Switzerland is very nice.

Well I'm from Denmark, and I can see that the low-end 13" model is still 108 USD cheaper in Czech Republic than in Denmark. The low-end 13" model is even 49 USD cheaper in Norway than in Denmark. Denmark is so expensive:confused:

Though I'm actually happy about the upgrates. Previously I was about to get the mid-level 13" model, but now I might get the low-end model instead for 200 USD less:p

What's really annoyed me is that they have 8GB standard, but a €200 jump for 256, whereas it was a €200 jump to go from 4/128 to 8/256.

They should've had a price drop for such a piss poor refresh, or failing that 8/256 standard.

I literally yelled out 'boring'.
It's so sad to see such an incremental update. Surely shoving a 800 series graphics card would sustain them well into 2015 even if they have to redesign the logic board before Skybridge. Kinda like a plan B. The competition is surely owning it hardware-wise.

I'm surprised the legacy 13' is still there. What are we in, 2010? And the low end models really are quite unspectacular - people looking at that price range are willing to settle for an equivalent Windows computer.

Lastly, who's with me for Apple to release a 14' with discrete graphics a la razer blade?

----------

I want one! Even though I don't need one. (Does that mean they won?)

They only win when they take your money.

I don't understand why Apple is still keeping this old non-Retina MacBook Pro 13" from 2012 in its lineup? It's way too expensive for the outdated hardware it offers.

Normally, Apple is known for being very radical in getting rid of old products and services. The future clearly is the Retina MacBook Pro line, so why still offering the old thing that's two years old already? Even a MacBook Air would be pricier for the same display size. The only argument for the old MacBook Pro would be the SuperDrive and the bigger internal storage... but who still needs an optical drive? And HDDs totally suck nowadays. I would never go back from SSD from HDD.

Obviously it's still around because it sells. Same reason why the iPad 2 is still around.

I've never seen so many wrong comments in statement before. So a real redesign is not a redesign in your opinion, but a change of color is? Go get it vinyl wrapped if you want a different color so bad.
