It's the year of SOMETHING every single year. This is a ridiculous argument.
It's a twelve year cycle. But the Chinese zodiac is also paired with their five elemental symbols: metal, wood, water, fire, earth.

Unlike the Western zodiac where your symbol comes for a month annually, your symbol doesn't come for twelve years in the Chinese zodiac so it is more special.

With the elemental symbol pairing, it's really a sixty-year cycle for your specific combination to come up. Let's say you were born as a Metal Dragon. When you are 12, it will be the Wood Dragon. 24 = Water Dragon, 36 = Fire Dragon, 48 = Earth Dragon. It will be your sixty's year when it is again the Metal Dragon.

It's a bigger deal for those people (mostly Asians) who follow this astrological calendar.

Most Westerners don't get it.

Politics and cultural debates aside, has anyone gotten theirs yet?

I had a set ordered and on its way thanks to a friend in China, but I’m curious to know if they come with an extra sheet or something in the Packaging, like how the red iPhones used (still do?) to.

I don't care if it's a big deal or if we get it or not.

My point that it's the year of something every year still stands. They can choose to make something special for the year or not but it's not like they have to just because it's the year of the Ox.

Not mine, but found these pics on Chinese Twitter
