Did he say anything he didn't say before? No!
Did he call them to comment? No!
They Started a similar campaign last year almost to the day. Were they running in fear then? No? Do you really think they decided to create the current ads which continue the theme they did in the last ads in a couple of days? Not!
Creative does not move that fast.
Do you really think that a company as good at marketing as Apple has not planned long in advance what they are going to do. Keep in mind Television is booked well in advance this time of year because of Basketball and Golf.

I gave my opinion, I think they are feeling the pressure. They are resting on their laurels, IMO, and the iPhone 5S isn't going to bring much more to the table.

Yup. And if you write anything against them, the forum moderators ban you.

That's because flame wars and h8ers generate lots of page views and clicks. Don't think for a second that this site exists to serve the Mac user community. It exists to MAKE MONEY. Controversy and hate are profitable.

Or how about people that just believe in using the best device that is available at the time of purchase?

I don't know why anyone is devoted to any brand unless they own or work for the company.

Not saying the iphone is a bad device its still top notch but no longer the best smart phone on the market since the iphone 4.

Even if they opened it up and let developers create apps that can customize the device, let me set what I want as my default app, keyboard etc, release imessages with regular sms and mms capabilities so I can use my computer to send messages to non iphone users, create that same imessages app for a pc, let me read and write what I want to the 64gb. The let me do this with my mac why can't the let me be a big boy and do what I want with my smart phone?
Boated confusing software does not make the best phone. Specs are only as good as its usability. To need twice the power to perform on par with the iPhone does not make it better. I'm sure Samsung laughs at getting Americans to fall for the giant screen move. They really did it because they had no choice. They could not make a smaller phone with comparable battery life and smooth performance so they needed space for a giant battery to support the processor running at a high clock speed and a bigger screen. I'm Samsung put there best optimized software on the phones at their release but the demos show it to still be slow to respond. What happens when its letting apps run in the background.

Funny I don't remember saying anything about Samsung in my post I just said what I want to be able to do with a smart phone. Preferably an apple smart phone. I also don't care about processor clock speeds as long is the phone works and performs well which my S3 did. Also battery life is similar I find. You can also get android devices with a smaller screen I believe the S3 mini is 4" not sure if its available in all countries though.

I wasn't trying to argue Android vs iPhone. I was just pointing out what I think I should be allowed to do with MY smart phone.

I've haven't used a windows phone or the new blackberry but I'm guessing they are somewhat closed as well?

If I could do what I mentioned in my original post with an iphone 5 without jailbreaking I'd own one right now! I find jailbreaking brings with it glitches and makes it a pain to update ios.

For some of us its not about hating apple and ios its about how apple limits us with ios.

Love my macbook but if it was closed like ios is I'd be a windows pc user. Thankfully its not. ;)

So, Samsung releasing another giant phone when the last one was suppose to kill the iPhone, and only out shipped it one quarter. we still have no idea how many they actually sold. We do know they sold about 25 million phones in the US between 2010 and June of 2012.
interestingly the quarter the S3 supposedly out sold the iPhone 4S Apple sold 26 million phones to end users not shipped in the pipeline. I guess we are suppose to believe they sold as many of these phones as they sold in two and a half years in one quarter. If so, why was the 4S able to beat it the next quarter, with a new iPhone out as well. The S4's upgrades amount to less than what the 4S brought. Its much easier to go big, small requires innovation. Apple has never rested, even when Steve was away. Remember this was when newton came forth. It was just the wrong timing and cost too much. It was that device that the ARM Processor was developed for and now nearly all Smartphones use the design. If Apple had kept their 47 percent share of the company in 1998 and used it for the first iPod we would even be having this conversation because Samsung wouldn't have access to the efficient ARM processor for their own phones.
Never under estimate Apple. Innovation is not making changes for the sake of doing so. Its only making them when it will improve the experience significantly. Until then incremental change to refine what is already effective and satisfies 96% of their customers. Thankfully they continue to ignore the vocal 4% who they could never please anyway. They just released an amazing iPhone 5 that I waited 3 cycles for because I like the feeling of getting a completely new phone just by Software update for free. My 3GS is on iOS 6 and still works too. I use it as a touch now. I think you mistake Apple's silence for weakness. The reason the others are making so much noise is they are afraid. The rumor mill is not as open as it once was. There were getting a free early peak and now they are not sure what to expect. Kind of like the 6 months before the first iPhone.

Says you.

I thought I stated that what I posted was my opinion. Not to mention that all the rumors about the 5S seem to indicate a better camera and maybe a fingerprint sensor. Just like the 4 to 4S brought Siri and a better camera, not much to crow about, again, IMO. The rest of the industry has been playing catch up and they are much closer than they were 2 years ago. Much closer.

You are free to think and believe what you want, just as I am. I stated my opinion, you stated yours. I respect yours and I'm not knocking it at all. Mine differs, that's all. Schiller bashing Android is very un-Apple like, again, IMO.

Why don't you go start your own FORUM where you allow no one to post what they think.
And see how successful you are LOL.
I hate the damn post from people like you crying about people posting their thoughts on a product. If someone hates a product why can't they post it?

So....what the heck are you still doing here? Legitimate question. If you've "moved on" then why still on Macrumors?

My guess is you still pay just as much attention to Apple news, you've just joined a different crowd that follows Apples every move to criticize it. For whatever reason it may be, no matter how irrational it is. You can find flaws in the most expensive diamonds if you look hard enough for it. People who have convinced themselves of something will do just that.

What has Apple done that they "only have themselves to blame?" Anyone who's been following Apple closely for the past 15 years, know that not much has changed about their approach or actions. Apple is still Apple. Although that illusion and allure of Apple once being the underdog has quickly faded away.

It's funny, isn't this what old Mac users always wanted? They evangelized Apple products very vocally, and now that the world has caught on to what they were saying 10 years ago, their attitudes have changed. Some people just love rooting for the underdog.

how is this a promotion? Apple gives out FREE Next Day shipping on iPads and iPhone like it's candy.

as Yoda once said "hmmmm...the answer no will always be, if don't you ask"

You'll probably find most of these people were once Apple devotees; but like myself, have become so disillusioned with Apple they've not only started to go elsewhere, but also backlash against the company just as they once did against Microsoft. What goes around comes around, but apple have only themselves to blame.

Sincerely, windows 8 user, ex iPhone 4!

Never read so much rubbish.

Um didn't apple make the iphone 5 bigger? Bigger screen = less innovative is such a weak argument. I wonder what apple fanboys will say if apple comes out with an 5" screen. I'm betting it won't be "oh this isn't innovative. Going smaller would have been."

Agreed that the S4 isn't a huge leap from the S3. It was similar to the change that apple made from the 4S to the 5. At least the S4 seems to have improved the quality of the display higher dpi.

Of that 96% most probably just want basic smart phone functions that work with ease, which the iphone does in spades. Nothing wrong with that and the iphone will continue to be successful since that is the largest market users. Others are probably brand loyal and or never given any other platform try. NOt that there is anything wrong with that if they are happy.

Apple has and may continue to lose market share to the more power type users and no company likes losing market share.

I still think most of us in the forum are apple fans and even iphone fans. Some of us just don't look at everything apple does with rose coloured glasses and don't understand why we can't give our opinions on what we think are shortcomings on certain apple products.

If you go back and watch the keynotes for the last 2-3 years for iphone or iPad the message is the same. As far as his tweets, someone needed to do it. Even this was sensationalized. He didn't even mention what was in the link. He just said "be safe out there". There are tech heads pushing people to buy Andriod devices because they like them and can tweak them, but the general public who never had to worry about being able to download malware from the official store. They have no idea how bad it is. I find it odd that there were quite a few reports from different sources done on this subject and before this one by as much as a month, but non of the Apple User sites that almost seem to promote Samsung and Google, posted any of them. As a matter of fact a Google search for Macrumors Android Malware only pulls up the article about Schiller and from before January 2013. Mcafee even had a report from Feb 10 2013 that was silenced. In December the FBI warned about the platform but Google apparently is willing to spend whatever it has to to keep the truth of line. All the Andoid lovers came out to deny theres a problem. Apple has seen this play out before with Windows. This is just a lot faster. The techs who support the platform denying theres a problem, so little Johnny consumer is out there naked as a bird until the sky falls and theres no escape. I remember friends trying to warn me and bring me into safer waters but I was an PC tech guy in denial and keeping others from salvation by talking them out of macs. Either Google will lockdown Android or the house of cards will come crashing down in the next year or so.

Being the rebel against the big brothers give many people a thrill. I hope iPhone loses just enough marketshare to go back to that underdog condition.:D
