Finally had success. Shut down my iPhone and watch at the same time. Restarted them both at the same time and now the download has dropped down to a more reasonable one hour. I did remove the Beta Profile from the iPhone prior to restarting the iPhone.

Ok got my X on 12.0, iPad on 12.0, backed up iPad, downloading tvOS now on my two apple TV's so now I can install this. This probably was longest download and processs time. And then in verify first time it failed (phone is close and watch on charger). fortunately let me verify again and now its installing on my Watch 3. Was not beta tester but never had verify fail before glad I did not have to go back and download or something.

I didn’t realize it was a separate app in the store. I thought it would just magically show up after an update, like some of the other apps.
Yea. I'm a bit confused too. But the new Siri shortcuts don't appear to be an app exactly. Instead you access it through the settings app. I'm sure it will become clearer once I've been able to play around with it.

"Reading and Reference" is a really dumb ScreenTime category for the Waze navigation app which, obviously, I use for hours at a time whilst driving.

What can we do about this?

We're just talking about raising your watch to you mouth and saying "hey siri..."? Because I do it all the time with my Gen 1 when I am driving...
ahh ok, the new feature you dont have to say hey siri, you just talk

No. It's raising your wrist and giving Siri a command without saying "Hey Siri" first.

Can I install this on a Series 0?
What's a "series 0"?

It can be installed on a 1st generation watch. Anything before that would have to be some sort of internal prototype and nobody here is likely to give you (or be able to give you) an answer.

WhatsApp now appears in Siri watch face settings.

Anyone have this work for them & if so what ?

Cheers

Anyone tried the music app yet? Does it still auto play the first track of a playlist and not let you scroll through it?

Sorry no, it is not compatible with the first-generation Apple Watch.

More details at the bottom of this page https://www.apple.com/watchos/watchos-5/

The original Apple Watch is known as the series 0. When the second generation was released, they also updated the original and sold that as the Series 1, alongside the Series 2. The new Series 4 is actually the 5th version of the watch.

I’m not having any luck. Deleted beta profile from phone, have restarted both devices multiple times. So frustrating!

I'm having similar issues - I have two identical Apple Watch Series 3 LTE's both paired to the same iPhone. One has updated fine (they were both on the beta, as was iPhone), but the second one won't update at all. iPhone is set to auto-switch between the watches (this happens when you put it on and raise your wrist)

The only difference is the one that won't update had LTE enabled (the other is a LTE watch but you can't have two LTE's enabled for a single iPhone)

So to confirm I:
- removed all profiles for watch and iPhone from Watch app and also Settings on iPhone
- restarted watches and iPhone
- had the first Apple Watch on and switched to it on iPhone (then turned off auto-switch)
- put this Apple Watch on the charger and that updated to the release watchOS5 perfectly.

Then I
- Turned off the newly updated Apple Watch
- Switch iPhone to the other Apple Watch
- made sure there were no profiles installed.
- restarted both Apple Watch and iPhone
- Check for software update for Apple Watch - nothing :(

No rhyme or reason there I'd say. Seems to be just luck of the draw...

Ian

P.S.Why do I have two watches? testing...

I'll have 2 watches here soon enough....... I usually sell mine when I get the new ones but I'm considering keeping my series 3 when the 4 arrives...... We'll see :)

So the new watch faces are a nice addition (getting tired .... No actually got tired LONG ago off the current ones).. But why did they have to limit the area so much for the fire effect on the old watches compared to the new ones? The area for the graphical effect is a circle in the middle and on the new S4 it's a full screen effect... Almost as they want the old watches to look like they have even smaller screens than they have

i updated both iphone x and watch series 4, no walkie talkie app to be found.

cool thingy tho. in the control center on the watch, their is a 'water drop' icon. it forces water out of the speaker(s) with a high pitched sound. neat!

i found out how to get the walkie talkie app on your watch if its missing after updating.

re-download the facetime app on your paired iphone. restart both watch and iphone. walkie talkie app will appear.

Incorrect. watchOS 5 requires Series 1 or higher.

I am not seeing the walkie talkie app. I downloaded OS5 via the beta profile.I deleted the profile and restarted my watch and phone, still not there. Running a Series 3 watch.
