Walkie Talkie is a hot mess. I have the series 3 cellular. I have watched the videos that open to the contact cards...mine opens to contacts list. No choice to make my self available, locks up. Not ready for prime time.
Killed the app, and it tells me to get started, add contacts to my iphone. Really? I have many. Cannot get beyond this screen.

How did you get the series 4 so soon?

Tried to re-sync data on my iPhone under the Watch app....I touch it and nothing...rebooting watch.

In walkie talkie, anyone I have ever mailed is in my contacts. Any fixes/suggestions for this?

It's a mess....I finally got my contacts to show up...and as I scroll, it freezes. Should be able to add them from the phone. Disaster.

"...Holy crab, they've released it!", I thought to myself, reading this news post. I wasn't keeping count of the days post-conference, since I'm upgrading to a Series 4 anyway as soon as it is delivered to me. "Gotta put it on charger & update now!"

Then 1 second later: "...Dammit! I can't! OG Watch isn't supported!" :(

First time I can't update an apple device when a new OS hits. Oh well. Maybe I get my new watch on friday. Well, a guy can hope at least.

I have a series 3 GPS + cellular and my contacts aren't showing up. Also, my Messages aren't syncing. Is anyone else having this issue?

i updated both iphone x and watch series 4, no walkie talkie app to be found.

cool thingy tho. in the control center on the watch, their is a 'water drop' icon. it forces water out of the speaker(s) with a high pitched sound. neat!

If this walkie talkie app works well, I might grab a new S4 and give my S3 to my wife. Mmm... wife will be able to contact me anywhere, anytime... on 2nd thoughts!

The water dispersement is on the S3 and I'm guessing if the S2 is also waterproof then it is on that as well. But yeah, it's cool. When you start the swim activity it automatically puts it in water mode.

My messages are syncing....only issue for me is Walkie Talkie...freezes scrolling through contacts...should be able to add contacts from the iPhone app...

The watchOS 5 update runs on all Series 1, Series 2, and Series 3 Apple Watch models, but it is not available for the first-generation "Series 0" Apple Watch models.

Arrgh. Read through the whole article just to find that blurb at the very end. So all that information was useless for me since I have a "Series 0".

Maybe next time MacRumors should lead with that?

Still nothing. Says watchOS 4.3.2 is the latest. Who did they release 5.0 to?

EDIT: Of course. First gen isn't a series 1????? WTF. Sucks.

The original Apple Watch is known as the series 0. When the second generation was released, they also updated the original and sold that as the Series 1, alongside the Series 2. The new Series 4 is actually the 5th version of the watch.

God, that's a screwy numbering convention.

Why can't WatchOS connect to a public wifi network? They could have implemented that instead of all those new useless features.

But that could cannibalise the cellular watch...

"Series 0" isn't even an official name put out by Apple, it's just one that users tend to use to imply it came before the Series 1. Before the Series 2 came out (simultaneously with the Series 1) there wasn't a reference to any Series at all in the naming, it was just the Apple Watch. Nowadays, Apple seem to just call it "the first-generation Apple Watch" which is perhaps even more confusing than calling it Series 0.

I got my contacts and messages to start working, but now my Walkie-Talkie app is completely gone. Bizarre.

Walkie talkie is missing in watchOS 5 on my Series 3.

Is Walkie talkie limited to Series 4?

I'm also missing the Walkie-Talkie app. it was there when I first upgraded, but now it's missing.

I’m missing it as well! ‍♂️

So my S3 LTE Walkie Talkie app is stuck on "Inviting" Contact. I can't get it off of that screen, even after reboot, open up Walkie Talkie again and it's still stuck on "Inviting" Contact.
