according to todays call they are not giving out estimates anymore as to when someone will get a box and there are still 55.000 service requests unfulfilled. I guess it'll be a loooong wait.

Has anyone in the US received a replacement? I am just curious what they are shipping out as the rumors have been pretty varied. Or, if any replacements have been sent out at all.

Finally

I only got around to registering mine today.

There was the Nano sitting on the dresser. Hasn't been used in years, but the wife was saving it because of the inscription.

Bought the original one as a Valentine's Day present when you could first pre-order them with "Beth...I love you soooo much!!" inscribed on the back (remember, this was the first time they had the laser etching available).

The unit was stolen and the replacement was inscribed, "Beth...I love you soooo much!! (...again)" as a joke...and that's the one I have.

I guess I'll just take a picture of the back as I don't want the battery to explode at some point in the future and not have the sentimental Nano OR a new Nano.:(

I filled out the request for a replacement November 13 and they finally got
around to shipping out the box today (December 9). A bit longer than the
two days that was mentioned in the Product Replacement email but at least
it was sent.

does anyone know if you have to pay a cent at all? Cause the email I got was like I was repairing any iPod & if anything happens I have to pay... Also, my screens cracked will that affect the replacement process?

It says it can take up to 6 weeks to recieve your replacement. It's been 3 weeks for me too.

I've been waiting 4 weeks now.. with no communication from Apple... I tried calling them but they really weren't interested in it..

It was my old one which I'd just given to my 6 year old son (with a speaker dock) as a present for doing well in school... 2 days later I read about the replacement. Post it off and now 4 weeks later son is still without his present!

Just got my "send to Apple" shipping box yesterday. I filled out the form to get it as soon as it was announced. We'll see how long it takes to get the replacement.

Why are you mad? Apple said 6 weeks, so give them 6 weeks.

Apple is not aware of your 6 year old son and his present. They are just giving you a refurb for free and have asked for 6 weeks.

Hmmmm

For what it is worth, and I am not making this up, I just received notification that my replacement iPod has just shipped, included in the email is a serial number of the replacement product, when I look up that serial number in Apples technical support tool, it lists a 6th gen iPod Nano. I will believe it when I see it.

I have a plastic front/metal rear ipod, I put in my serial and just got my box. However, the letter in the box says to send the ipod in for repair as if I'm needing to have Apple fix/repair my iPod. That doesn't sound like the 'recall' or 'replacement' language that gets posted. Is it possible I have a plastic/metal nano that isn't part of this recall?

I might have to swing by an Apple store to make sure. The serial is soooooo small that I had to take to photo of it with my iphone and enlarge the photo to see the letters. lol, I'm getting old.

What did the enclosed letter say?

Signed up for the program on 11/12/11. Received shipping envelope 12/17/11. Shipped ipod 12/18/11. Now we wait.

That would be a nice surprise.

Same here. I sent the request to Apple on Nov 17th, they sent me the return box about a week later. Just today I was notified they're shipping the replacement unit, and the email included the serial number of the old unit, and the serial number of the replacement unit they're sending me, noting that the new unit had a different serial number than the one I sent them. The new serial number comes up as a 6th generation iPod Nano and the FedEx tracking number indicates it will be delivered on Dec 23.

FWIW, the Nano I sent them, although scratched up as they are known to be prone to, was otherwise undamaged and completely functional.

Registered the day I got the email, box came 1 or two days later, sent it back the next day. Yesterday a silver 6th gen nano arrived fed ex!

Apple received mine nov 21. Product replacement has been pending

Same here.. Got the email yesterday that it shipped. Following the lead here, I looked up the serial number they provided and I'm getting the new gen Nano :)

I think its crazy that people seem to think a product should last forever and be perfect no matter what they do to it, or that they should get something new even if there is a problem. When you have a problem with a tire, they pro-rate the use and give you the balance.. They should do the same with consumer products after the normal warranty... the Nano is long past its normal lifespan, but hey, I'm thrilled to be getting a new nano!

I registered on November 12, and received shipping box in 10 days. However I did not get around to sending the nano in till two weeks later and Apple received it on December 13.

They shipped replacement out today, and it is indeed a 6th generation nano. Shows under warranty till December 22, 2012.

I am glad I waited to send that old nano back to Apple!

My 6th gen nano replacement just arrived with UPS. Got 8GB. Nice. It was pre-used. Not new. Definitely not new. Even formatted for a PC and had some french sticker on the back and some scratches on the top. The warranty is saying that it last until Dec 26th 2012 so thats good. I had quite some iPods failing on me in particular the shuffle with the same form factor so I am not too pleased about that.

iPod replacement showed up today. Unfortunately, it showed up during the only half-hour I wasn't home. Signature REQUIRED. Called Fedex to see if I could pick it up at a nearby Fedex location. NO GO. Apple doesn't allow this. I can't even sigh the door tag telling them it's ok to leave it. Apple doesn't allow this. So I'm basically held hostage tomorrow till it shows up which could be any time. This for a 6th gen 8GB iPod of which I already have one that I don't use since I got my iPhone. Maybe I could sell them. :(
