A nice move, but I see it more as the direction of where CBS All Access is heading. Merging CBS All Access with Showtime is a logical way to compete against HBO Max ($14.99) and Peacock ($4.99 to $9.99), both of which are leverage their broadband/wireless customers to increase marketshare.

they really do need an all in one subscription. i'm cancelling my TV+ when free trial is over, already cancelled arcade and news. music and icloud storage are the only ones i'm keeping so far.

$34.99 package to include 2TB of iCloud, Music, TV+, Arcade, News for the family would be fine.

Fair price, but can we bump it up to say 4 or 5TB? With family taking more photos/videos, especially anything with kids, I'd like high storage option.

5TB is reasonable. I get 5TB of OneDrive for being a student.

once data shows a bunch of people hitting 2TB, i'm sure apple will start bumping the storage plans. i suspect not many are hitting the 2TB yet, even on the family plan.

personally, i set my parents phones to use 1080p since they don't have a 4k monitor anywhere in the house.

(1) I don't think so. (2) So far only the commercial-free version was available as an Apple TV channel, so I guess that's also what will be in this bundle.

I hope this holds true. I have commercial free CAA now and have zero interest in moving to the ad version. If it is ad free, I’ll switch to Apple channels and basically get Showtime for free.

You don't like it? Really? I think AppleTV+ Up Next is one of the best UIs out there. Live content is customization per user and is highlighted at the front because it will go away when over. Really the only issues I run into is when App Developers are lazy and just throw something together.

Maybe things are just broken in tvOS public beta, because nothing I watch gets updated as watched, but then this now happens in APV as well.

Either way, an app that throws up a little bit of everything from everyone is not very pleasant to me, though it seems the only way to get to ATV+.

(Edited because autocorrect messed with my Englishment.)

it almost always starts the wrong episode for me. at times it will be a couple episodes behind. completed movies on amazon stay on as if i barely started them etc. it's not reliable at all.

It shouldn't be adding a little bit of everything from everyone. It should only be things you have listed as I want to watch, things you are in the process of watching, or the next episode of shows you recently watched.

Do you have other people sharing the same account?

The only issue I have seen is when shows are available on different services you subscribe to but the episodes are either in a different order or there is a different number of episodes (such as with Stargate).

This is gonna be tempting if this is still around during Champions League next season. I'm on a free trial through the end of the month for CBSAA.

Me, too, was already going to bite the bullet for CL games, plus I like the Star Trek series on CBS so it's a win. I need to read what others are saying though about having to watch through the TV app or if I can use the CBSAA app itself. And what if I already have a CBSAA account that I let lapse after binge watching Discovery and Picard? I need to read up on this thing.

I can confirm that you can use the CBS app with an Apple TV channels subscription. Although it was hard for me to figure it out. I had to google a bit. I don’t think you can watch Champions League through the TV app, so the CBS app is required. If you can watch it on the TV app, I haven’t found out where it is.

Yea 1080p is a good option as well. I want to do 4k since our kids are young, by they time they are old enough to really enjoy these, 4K should be the norm. That's kind of my thinking...

The not updating watched episodes appears to be a bug in tvOS 14 public beta, because it works fine in tvOS 13.

Quality on the way!

I might pay $10/mo for all three, but I can’t see myself paying that on top of AppleTV+. Not for Showtime and CBS. Toss in Epix or Cinemax and it’s a deal.

Reactions:erniefairchild1 What are you disagreeing with? Are you suggesting that CBS is worth paying for? That Showtime is somehow worth 66% of HBO?

If this is all tied to the Apple TV app, then I’ll have nothing to do with it. Finally signed up for my free ATV+, and I like the shows, but the app really, really sucks. It doesn’t tag shows as watched after I finish watching them, I can’t put them into a list except Watch Next, which worthlessly contains movies I already finished watch. And then adds baseball on front of that.

The software is just atrocious. Amazon Prime Video is better, and that sucks.
You can turn off the Baseball in the Sports section to prevent it showing up in Up Next.

Shows are indeed marked as watched (there's a check mark on the store page visible after watching). Netflix sure doesn't have that feature.

How many actually use and like the content on Apple tv+?

I see their commercials all the time and nothing interests me.

I love TV+. My favorite shows of 2019/2020 were almost all exclusively on TV+ (with the remainder on HBO, like Perry Mason and The Plot Against America).

I wouldn't know what to recommend for you to watch without knowing more of your taste in TV/movies. I personally love thrillers, mystery, sci-fi, and whodunnits, so TV+ has me covered. I enjoy their comedies also. And their docu-series/movies have been stellar as well. Greyhound was a solid movie. Banker too.

Same thing here. I just do not find anything on Appletv+ to watch. And after that free year I got. It would be I think $5 a month. Just for the bundle discount.

I would be more interested in other bundles. Like Apple Music with let’s say Apple Arcade together. Or perhaps maybe if they bundled Apple TV+ with Apple Music, arcade etc. I may consider that.

HBO MAX is included with my AT&T cellular plan. Small win on that front.

ATV+ is still in its infancy and with production slowdowns and stoppages, and of course it isn’t as robust as it could be.

Perfect Time for that marketshare increase.

Apple is planning to launch an Apple TV Channels bundle that features CBS All Access and Showtime at a discounted price, reports Bloomberg.

apple_tv_channels_cbs.jpg

The bundle, which aims to spur usage of Apple TV+ and the Apple TV Channels feature, will be priced at $9.99 per month. It is set to roll out as early as Monday, and will be available to those who have an Apple TV+ subscription.

Apple already offers access to both CBS All Access and Showtime through Apple TV channels. On a standalone basis, CBS All Access is priced at $9.99 per month and Showtime is priced at $10.99 per month, so this will be a significant savings for those who choose to subscribe through the Apple TV app.

Introduced last year, Channels is an Apple TV app feature that lets Apple device users sign up for and watch various subscription television services right within the Apple TV app.

Users still need to pay for the streaming services, but without the hassle of downloading an app and signing up separately. Some of the Channels available in addition to CBS All Access and Showtime include Starz, Nickelodeon, Mubi, The History Channel Vault, Epix, Comedy Central Now, and more.

Channels is offered alongside Apple TV+, Apple's $4.99 per month streaming service that houses Apple original content.
