I am sorry but what is the big deal in just mentioning that it got 1 GB RAM or 2 GB RAM. I want to change my phone and I am waiting for new iPhone for last 3 months. Now they haven't given the RAM size and I am getting confused. If you got any confirm source about the RAM size please let me know. I need to decide now that should I still wait for just by Samsung Note 5 with 4 GB RAM.
Even with 4GB of ram note 5 apps still refresh just so you know

In confused, did they rename force touch? Or is it only called 3d touch for the iPhone? What's the difference?

I get the feeling the hardware guys called it force touch, but then the marketing guys got the hold of it and renamed it to 3D touch. Even Phil Schiller nearly called it force touch and had to correct himself.

w/r to the f2.2 lens. There really isn't going to be all that much difference between F2.2, F2.0 and F1.8. It's about 1/3rd of a stop difference. The difference in light collection is negligable, the difference is depth of field is also negligable. An f2.2 lens is also likely to be smaller, lighter, sharper than an F1.8 lens. It's really not something to get caught up about.

Regardless, without knowing the size of the sensor, the iPhone 6S f2.2 lens may capture more light than the competitions f2.0 and f1.8 lenses anyway. I'd be interested to know what the T-stop of these lenses is relative to their marketed F rating.

We know the size it's 1/3, the pixels are now just smaller.

And there is a huge difference between f2.2 and 1.7, I notice it easily on my Sony camera when I zoom.

Also, I thought the Apple iPhone a year program looked very nice if you like to keep up with the latest models and the cost seemed pretty much in line with what you pay with the carriers. All good in my book.

The best part about the upgrade program is that the "contract" for the phone is with Apple, so you aren't carrier-locked, and you can shop carriers and plans as often as you like!

You still need to store the data temporarily before it gets uploaded to the cloud. If you have any apps or other data on your 16GB iPhone 6s, you won't be taking much 4k video before you're out of storage and have to wait for it to upload.

Can't you use your local storage to offload, this is pretty damn fast for me...

The point is that in the 16GB model loaded with apps and other data there's just not enough local storage to store even slightly longer 4k videos while waiting for it to sync to cloud. And if you referred to using a computer's storage, I'm not taking my Mac mini or my work rMBP everywhere I carry my iPhone.

They typically don't mention it for just this reason! How much RAM an iPhone has vs how much a Samsung has is rather irrelevant. In the past, Apple typically gave a BETTER user experience with far less RAM than the competitors.... so if you're Apple, you don't exactly want to advertise you have less RAM, because people will do just what you're doing here.

How much RAM an iPhone has vs how much RAM a different iPhone has, however, is relevant. (Because they use the same OS.) And, unless they drastically optimize iOS 9, 512K doesn't cut it any more and 1GB is borderline. Most of us probably don't want a new $700+ device to be borderline. (But, the new Apple, driven by spreadsheets rather than user-experience, might want your new device to be borderline so you buy the next one more quickly.... so many of us want to know.)

Even IF you have local storage space to do so (and if you have a 16GB model and use your phone at all, you'll have little of that), you aren't going to be able to hold much of it, even temporarily. And, if you start off-loading it via cellular, you'll burn through your data plan in minutes.

Sorry Apple, the cloud just isn't ready for prime-time.

Optical Image Stabilization, it's also on the iPhone 6+ but not on the iPhone 6

I see. I wonder if it's actually worth it. Price isn't a concern for me, but I would prefer the smaller screen just as a preference.

Looks like Apple Care Plus has gone up? Here in the UK it's going from £79 to £109.

The site's live:

http://www.apple.com/iphone-6s/

If we take a look at how Apple portrays the 3D touch tech, it looks more and more it's some form of OLED. If it is, I'm really curious as to why Apple didn't tell us about it.

Also looks like the 6S+ is the only one with OIS. Bummer, but somewhat expected. And is that a new Space Grey color I see?

They bring up OIS on the website's main page, when they are talking about the camera in general. Then after you click on "Learn More About iPhone 6S Cameras'", They mention the OIS with the 6S Plus when shooting video in 4K. So, I am not sure if it has been added to the 6S, or only still only on the Plus. Damn, I would like to know.
Then again, there are a few questions that I would like answered. I guess it will take a tear-down in the coming weeks to get these questions answered. I think the biggest question of all is, how much RAM???

I don't believe Apple ever states (admits) how much RAM the processor has. I don't do think we get that until the breakdowns and someone pulls out an electron microscope (or something geeky like that).

Gary

No, I don't think they do either, although, if you look on Apple's site and see the spec's for the iPad Pro, it shows 2GB of RAM. Why wouldn't they
Actually they never list that information on the site. These aren't Macs. They don't talk about that—even though they brag about a desktop-class processor. You have to wait for confirmation via Geekbench reviewer or a teardown by iFixit, etc.

They show the amount of RAM on the iPads. It's a IOS device, so why not iPhones? Damn, I hope there is the 2 gigs we are hoping for.

If what they put in there is more RAM than the competition, they'll list it. If it's less, they won't. Pretty simple. :)

I thought that the separate name was a little strange too. I thought at first it meant there wasn't feedback, but then they showed it did...

There must be something different enough between them that they see them possibly being used differently in the future that they wanted it to be distinct.

Gary

I think because of the name itself...Force Touch. Sounds a little...well...you know...intrusive. Who knows.

Hi everyone. I have a question for anyone who has pre-ordered an iPhone on the pre-order date. I want to attempt to pre-order the iPhone 6s Plus on Saturday. I live in the Eastern US. Is it worth me getting up at 3:00am to attempt to place a pre-order? I've read comments and stories in years past where the Apple store crashes on pre-order day and it sounds like a nightmare to try and get an order to process. I'd really like to get the new iPhone as close to it's release date as possible, but is it worth going through the hassle of trying to place a pre-order as early as possible on day one?
