At the prices Apple charge, they need a compelling product, and each iteration seems less so.

Thank you! the feature gap between Apple and others is shrinking (all major apps are on all platforms), next frontier? Price, we are already seeing excellent phones in the $300 unlocked region. With subsidy being called out by all four carriers now, there's even more pressure on either real renovation and/or price reduction

I wish Apple would just remove RAM entirely. Maybe even the CPU - I hear it's a big power guzzler too.
/s

No kidding! I don't care if the battery lasts 2 weeks if the device isn't usable. And, unless they did an *incredible* job with getting iOS 9 to use less RAM, it really needs more. (I'm not a spec person... up until about iOS 6-7, Apple was indeed doing more with less... then iOS 8 came along and pretty much bricked everything but the latest and greatest and even made that stuff feel doggy.)

That's because they rushed through the keynote, which sucked some of those Demo could have been reduced and more time spent on the iPhone, over 2 hours and barely 15-20 mins was of the iPhone

I thought they could have spent less time on the iPhone but that's just me. I don't think they had very many things to talk about and what they did have wasn't that interesting. There were the expected incremental upgrades and a few new features that have people scratching their heads. I'll keep an open mind but I didn't see anything compelling.

Does anyone know for sure whether the new 6s and 6s Plus have 2gb RAM? Ive seen a few articles that state 2gb RAM but several others that don't know.

I don't know for sure about the 6s (or is it 6S?), but 2GB of RAM has been confirmed for the ATV 4. I think that makes it much more likely that the 6s will also get 2GB of RAM. Like others have said, Apple never mentions RAM at an iPhone intro and it's up to others to find that out. I'm also hoping that means the iPad mini 4 will get 2GB.

yeah i'm very interested in knowing if this program would affect my unlimited data plan on verizon at all...if not, it's a no brainer for me to go through Apple for this.

Cant see why it would affect your Verizon account as you are paying Apple not Verizon for the phone. Apple is selling you an unlocked version of the phone. So it would make sense that Verizon should see it as you bringing your own device. So I guess you would also have a separate bill seeing as you are paying Apple for your phone. What I am wondering is if you would need to pass a credit check with Apple to buy the phone. That might be a bummer for me. When I was younger I had a couple of dings on my credit lol. But as far as my cell phone I never been late in 10 years so AT&T did the Next for me and even let me do an early next. So as more time goes on and more info is put out there we will see. But then again I wouldn't be surprised if Verizon was like oh wait you did the new Apple plan then bye bye unlimited. They are really trying to push people off of unlimited so badly.

So what's your gut feeling? My thought is that if Apple really did add 2GB of RAM, they would've announced it as an improvement. So, I hate to say, but I have a feeling it wasn't changed. :( Again, I could be wrong here.

They never say anything about ram. iPad Air 2 has 2gb of ram and they never mentioned it during the announcement last year. I am thinking that after seeing how much 2gb improved the iPad I don't see why apple wouldn't add 2gb to the 6s

When the iPhone 5 got a 1GB they didn't mention it. When the iPad Air 2 got 2GB and a tri-core chip, they didn't mention it. Apple never mentions their specs since for normal people they don't say anything. They want "x times faster" as a sentence, not "Has 3 cores and 2GB of RAM now". Us tech people have to wait on the benchmarks.

I feel it has 2 GB.[/QUOTE

Unlike Samsung and Co they have to mention it lol

Does anyone know if you need the 6S Force Touch in order to switch between apps by swiping from the edge of the screen?
Nope I can do that right now on iOS 9 beta I'm sure

***correction it's only wishin the app*** not multitask to other apps by swipe from the left

What's wrong with 16gb? That's what they have the cloud for.........
For me, 16gb means everything goes to the cloud.

You still need to store the data temporarily before it gets uploaded to the cloud. If you have any apps or other data on your 16GB iPhone 6s, you won't be taking much 4k video before you're out of storage and have to wait for it to upload.

Isn't the expectation of more than incremental updates possibly part of the problem? If I go to buy a new car and it has 2x the HP and uses 3/4 the fuel.... that would be insanely awesome, not simply incremental... even though it is.

On the other hand, while they put 32GB storage into the sub-$200 A TV too, but only 16GB in a $700 phone. So, I don't think there is much rhyme or reason going on here besides what the marketing department thinks they can get away with.

But, if it turns out that all the new stuff does have 2GB, I'd stay FAR, FAR away from any of the current 1GB models!

Am I the only one upset about the taptic engine in the 6s? That damn thing sits right under the battery and from that glimpse during the keynote, looks to be at least 3-4mm from top edge to bottom edge. Now tell me, is this engine really worth it? That extra 3-4mm could have been used to increase the battery size and thereby increase battery capacity.

I'm not bothered by the new taptic engine, but what you're saying does seem to have some truth to it. Here's the screen grab of the part of the "flyover" I saw in the keynote (about 91 minutes in on the recording):
iPhone 6s battery.png

It shows the battery capacity as 1715mAh. iFixit gives the capacity of the original iPhone 6 battery as 1810mAh.

This is only a graphic used for the keynote video for the 6s, not an actual image from an actual teardown, so the number written on the battery pack may be wrong. I seem unable to get a clear enough view of the watt-hour rating.

I'm not sure I'd say 'upset' but it isn't a feature I'd buy or not buy over. And, given that, I'd probably take the battery life. But, that's how I felt about Retina displays in laptops and such too, but it looks like this is just what's to come, so we have to deal with it. (i.e.: early adopter consequences) (note: I'm not opposed to Retina displays, but didn't like the trade-off.)

I think there are people out there who have to recharge their phone during the day. I'm not one of those people-- I get a full day's use out of it. When I travel, I carry a charge pack, but I don't think I've ever needed it. I've used it before long flight after a full days use just to be sure, but I'm not sure I would have killed the battery with the radios off.

At any rate, for more battery to be useful for me, it would have to last twice as long (a second day). And that would only be worth it if there was a reason I couldn't charge at night. I wish I could get a week of use, but that's just not in the cards-- growing the battery by a factor of 5 or 7, or cutting power draw by that amount just isn't feasible while retaining even the most basic of modern features.

If it slips below a day between charges, I'll be unhappy. I don't need much more on the upside though.

they don't mention things like that. It'll come on the site later
I am sorry but what is the big deal in just mentioning that it got 1 GB RAM or 2 GB RAM. I want to change my phone and I am waiting for new iPhone for last 3 months. Now they haven't given the RAM size and I am getting confused. If you got any confirm source about the RAM size please let me know. I need to decide now that should I still wait for just by Samsung Note 5 with 4 GB RAM.
