You must really know Apple quite well.Sounds like Apple wrote this, handed it to him, and said "Say this and we'll drop it." lol

Makes logical sense - silence the leakers and the others have nothing to write about.I suppose it's easier for Apple to go after the leakers than the people (e.g. Mark Gurman, Ming-Chi Kuo, etc) who write about the leaked info.
Well.. with his skills he can probably land a gig easily in other countries. It doesn't have to be here in the US. There are in fact countries that love hire him for the publicity he already has.Flipping burgers is harsh, but his days of working in the corporations is likely done. If this shows up on background checks, it will be hard. Best bet is to move to a state with strict protection laws against rejecting applicants for their past acts.
and there's no evidence that leaking any info actually harms sales.
The post text is sent to the ex employee as part of the agreement.
Last year, we reported that Apple sued its former software engineer Andrew Aude for providing journalists with confidential information about the company's future plans, including details about the Journal app, Vision Pro headset, and more.

As reported by 9to5Mac, the Superior Court of Santa Clara County on Thursday dismissed the lawsuit after Apple and Aude reached an agreement to resolve this matter. The court document for the case's dismissal does not provide any specific details about the agreement, but Aude issued a public apology on the same day.
In a post on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, Aude said leaking information was a "profound and expensive mistake."
Aude's full apology:Aude joined Apple in 2016, to work on optimizing battery performance, and the company fired him in 2023 after learning of his wrongful disclosures. For more details about the situation, read our previous coverage of the lawsuit.

As others have said, this was most likely crafted by Apple’s lawyers. The bit about lost career prospects especially sounds like it’s meant to be a deterrent to anyone else considering leaking, which is the whole point of this statement. This ******* is not even apologizing. He says it wasn't worth it.
More worried about relationships lost and career. Self-centered pig.
I suppose it's easier for Apple to go after the leakers than the people (e.g. Mark Gurman, Ming-Chi Kuo, etc) who write about the leaked info.
Well, obviously Apple wrote the apology. Do you have any idea how difficult it is to write or type with ten broken fingers?😁😏😏Sounds like Apple wrote this, handed it to him, and said "Say this and we'll drop it." lol
Apple doesn't have to legally go after them. A couple of burly men can pay Gurman or Kuo a visit, comment on all the fragile item in their office. "Oh clumsy me."Well Apple does not have NDAs as well as other legally contracted obligations and restrictions with Gurman and Kuo so there is no legal basis to "go after them".
I agree with this unless the Apple was violating the law. In this case they weren't.I think he got off easy. If I was on the prosecuting side I'd go full throttle to teach him a lesson that stealing trade secrets and leaking to media is a cheap tactic to make a buck.
I didn't follow this story originally, and I wonder where he leaked to?
Yup and it's also targeted at other Apple employees: "do this and you'll suffer the same fate. Keep your mouth shut or we'll make your life a living hell"Sounds like Apple wrote this, handed it to him, and said "Say this and we'll drop it." lol
GOOD! Now continue to find the other leaker who keeps spewing secrets to Gurman. Shame on the leaker and Gurman for making a living in a dirty and dishonorable way.
I love how Apple treats something like the Journal App like it's The Manhattan Project.
FYI, some leaks are unofficially sanctioned by Apple to gauges interest in new ideas. More importantly, it gets people talking.GOOD! Now continue to find the other leaker who keeps spewing secrets to Gurman. Shame on the leaker and Gurman for making a living in a dirty and dishonorable way.
Probably same with every MR members. Why else would we subscribe to a "rumors" website and comment on the "rumors" threads?I’m not going to criticise or condemn this guy because that would make me a hypocrite. I enjoy reading these leaks.
Andrew Aude: “Forgive me for the harm I have caused this world. None may atone for my actions but me, and only in me shall their stain live on. I am thankful to have been caught, my fall cut short by those with wizened hands. All I can be is sorry, and that is all I am.”
Tim Cook: “I don’t think you meant it… Again.”
Makes logical sense - silence the leakers and the others have nothing to write about.
They didn't find it, they paid the person who took it $5000 for it.Remember years ago when Gizmodo leaked a new iPhone when they found a prototype in a bar and what happened to them?
