I thought I was the only one to instantly think “extra small” when seeing XS ... I’m planning on getting the 6.5 inch screen and it just doesn’t sound right to call it Extra Small!
But the 2018 X will be the 5.8inch OLED, so what does that make the 6.5 OLED?

XL? :D

I know theres threads about this but given the plus is the new 'ahhh' factor since the XS is a refresh of last year,

what is your guys' ceiling on what you're willing to pay for a XS Plus, for those in the market, assuming Apple redlines the price instead of pulling back a little?
Everyone will complain how expensive it is then go out and buy it so it really doesn't matter. If you can afford a $900 phone you can afford a $1200 phone. Plus that only means a few extra bucks per month on contract which people are ok with. Unless the thing is around $100 added to your monthly bill ($2000 off contract), no one will care. Hence Apple getting away with it.

If it has a better camera I sold. Otherwise, I might just hold on to my X another year unless the Xs Plus is 1000 flat and not 1200.

Someone previously stated that the Xs cameras will have dedicated ram. So that's an improvement right there. I'm kinda hoping for 16mp with big pixels.

In Europe you get “L” for large, “M” for medium and “S” for small, so “XL” is extra large and “XS” is extra small.

It's pronounced ten, not x. So the joke doesn't work.

Apple is testing their video stream right now for their Sept 12 event

So it was the iPhone and Apple Watch, did they stop the stream or are they the only products they will be announcing as nothing else seems to have been leaked.

Should've waited with the X. I'm lining for the larger screen. Mistakes were made thiguh and ill live with it. Probably going another two years with this one.

That's the beauty of upgrading every year. Been loving my X since launch day, and really looking forward to getting my 6.5" Plus version in a couple/few weeks.

This is the first time its been this close to the event and I haven't heard a single feature that will separate the new phones from the iPhone X.
What am I missing?
The only reason for me to upgrade is the bigger size but I'm not sure that is enough. I'm pretty happy with the X as it is.
I'm sure they will push the colors and the better camera but any features that are exclusive?
the plus phone will have a bigger battery and potentially dual SIM, upgraded RAM, other than that not much else. For me its the size of the phone alone that is getting me to upgrade; i need a 6.5" screen to view videos in the best possible way. The gold color helps, on top of the fact that Face ID 2 will be better and the bigger better battery. 4GB RAM is good to

Can you imagine if Apple removed the notch, now that every other manufacturer finally has caught up with them and replicated it

If Apple had their way, they'd want to introduce the product themselves, on a stage where they can control the message and have maximum impact on the tech news cycle. Having people comment and judge their new products based on images released two weeks before the official announcement isn't good for Apple from a marketing perspective. I mean, in the grand scheme of things, it probably won't make a big difference, but I still don't think Apple wanted it this way.

Didn’t someone in their marketing team post a video introducing the iPhone 7 on twitter about an hour before their September keynote of that year?

This is getting to be a habit.

And... the name.

I can’t wait for the pun onstage when they introduce it ‘XS/excess’.

I guess we shouldn’t be surprised at bad names in an industry where a seemingly random selection of alphanumeric characters commonly forms a product name!

The phones look great though :)

you realize it's TEN right? X means 10. It's the iPhone 10s. Just like the 6s, 5s and 4s before it.

The name XS for both makes total sense. I don't see how the 6.1" LCD iPhone will be called anything with a X in the name.

The XS... “Excess”

This has to be the dumbest name - it’s bordering on repulsive. They should have used this opportunity to simply switch to ‘iPhone’ and ‘iPhone Pro’. Hopefully this is just journalists' guesses and not Apple's official name for it!

Ugh
