IMO, putting another letter after “X” will just further increase the amount of people that call it “ex” instead of “ten”.
When I see “iPhone Xr”, I don’t see “10r”.
And when I see XS, I of course see “extra small”. Very bizarre naming scheme.
I guess if you're not going to "sell sugar water" you can at least name your products in a similar fashion...

They should just drop the numbering, as they already did with the iPad. No Apple product other than the iPhone, the Apple Watch, and a handful of accessories has a numbering system. It is not the "MacBook Pro 5" or the "iMac 9"; it is the "MacBook Pro mid-2018" or the "iMac mid-2018". Simple. Effective. Elegant.
Naming doesn't really matter to me. But consistency does.
If Apple really thinks these are good names some people clearly need to be let go in Cupertino.

Similar posts/comments have been posted before, I don't get the connection, Coke is food, an iPhone...well you guessed it...
Yes, because similarly to the examples I mentioned above, Apple would not advertise the model name of the new iPhone as iPhone (2018), it would be advertised as "iPhone" (the iMac is simply advertised as "iMac") and only specified—using the year—if and when necessary. The average consumer would not notice or pay heed to the year in all likelihood. They would only know that someone had the "new" iPhone.Phones don't work like this. Do you really think apple would be caught dead selling the "2018 iPhone" for the better part of 2019????
Is it 10R or ExR?
Is it 10S or ExS?
Consumer upgrade cycles are different for the iPhone, iPad, and MacBook.
Why force consistency when there isn't natural consistency?

Exactly the point. You do get it, you just don’t know you do.
There should not be ANY kind of connection between sodas/food and something with a $1,000+ price tag - and yet, Apple is making a good run at it with this crass naming strategy.
Yep, you were right. R was indeed the budget.Well according to you perhaps but others may like those names, just as some people may like your given name and others may hate it and think it is the stupidest name ever for a person to be called.
Each to their own then.

No offence but they are not going to upset to the XR as that is the so called budget model, they would upset instead to the X Max as that will be the high end model.
Please grow up. iPhone X is a premium device and appropriately priced accordingly. Apple does what a premium brand company always does. I am very satisfied what Apple does by putting their foot down to their premium product with proper price. If you do not like it, get other brand or get a lower price one and move on.iPhone X Retarded
