A new video from uravgconsumer. Go to 9:30 where he shoves the iPhone 12 with leather wallet in and out of his jeans pocket and it doesn’t come off.
I think with a cover the wallet will have a strong secure connection. This video illustrates that, you can hear a nice snap. It’s without a cover that I’m worried about, the MKD review illustrates a weak connection without a cover. Eager to see reviews when wallet arrives to people.

I'm keeping my two paid wallets and the one I got for free :) Those doing reviews of the Apple Wallet with only the MagSafe Case and without the iPhone 12/12 Pro are useless as the magnet in the phone itself is stronger than the one on the case.
To be honest it looks the other way round to me, that without a case the magnet doesn’t seem as strong in the phone when the wallet is connected, but when the case is on the phone, the magnets in the case seem to connect much stronger. I seem to be one of those rare users who don’t like covers so I’m hoping you are right, that the wallet without a case has a strong solid connection.

While we wait for our apple wallets, curious what type of wallet does everyone currently use?
I carry a Magpul daka edc wallet - with 2 cards, DL, & 2 bills.

Funnily enough, the apple promo videos at apple.com show the phone, without the case, connecting to the wallet and it seems to have a very strong connection. So who knows, would they fabricate a video 🤷🏻‍♂️. Looking forward to hearing what you all think when you receive the wallets.

Any concern with pulling your phone out of your pocket and this thing falling off your phone? Hopefully it's a really strong connection.

Now the youtube reviews are out, its interesting to see how one guy demonstrated how easy it is for the wallet to detach and fall on the floor when sticking your phone in your back packet

Yeah, I just watched the MKBHD video and it really got me 2nd guessing it. Canceling my order now.

I agree, I expected it to be wayyyy stronger, thought it would really snap into place.

When I first saw the wallet I knew it would be best for people who keep their phones in a purse, bag, etc. Not practical for those of us that like to carry our phones in our pockets.

I think it was the MKBHD video where he put the wallet on and it didn't seem to snap strongly in to place like I was expecting - it was on a bit squint and didn't seem to snap in to place.

Do you mean the MKBHD video? I have seen others (e.g. uravgconsumer) and they have not reported any issues.

Brian Tong video. Trying to slide the phone into your jeans pocket without the wallet coming off would be a constant chore.

..this is a quick demo of how weak it is:

...that's because half the wallet is already in his pocket when he's doing the up and down motion so of course its not gonna come off.

The point is, is that when the wallet is wholly not in the pocket, then it will come off!

Would it be possible to make a shortcut to send a push notification to the watch if the wallet "disconnects" from the magsafe back of the iPhone?

I am planning on ordering a Pro Max in a few weeks when pre-orders opens up and my ideal setup would be no case, with just a MagSafe wallet. I've seen a total of two vide reviews that mention the wallet and one shows it falling off when he puts it in his pocket while the other shows it sticking very firmly to the back of the phone. Does anybody think that fist review might be a defective product? Or does the wallet just stick better to the back of a case than a naked phone?

I guess none of these have shipped yet and only a few reviewers have received them early so far?

I think it definitely looks like it sticks better to a case than the naked phone. But no ordinary users have received these so we’ll have to wait for some real life experience. I tried looking for YouTube reviews and couldn’t find any either

Currently I’m using a tan Bellroy card pocket. I’ve had it for a couple of years now. It’s held up great and I haven’t lost a card yet. The zipper has gotten smoother and easier to open with time which is a good thing.

If I order the pro max in a couple weeks with the wallet, will apple delay shipment of the phone until the wallet is available (like they did with the leather band for my Apple watch) or will they ship both separately?

I ordered my Saddle Brown immediately on release and am slotted for a November 3-10 delivery.
Are you saying you ordered the wallet and had to wait until November for the wallet, or are you saying they delayed delivery of your phone so they can deliver phone and wallet together in Nov?

If it's the later (phone delayed) then I'll order my phone and case separate because I would like to get my phone asap even if I won't have case/wallet.

Apple will ship individual items from an order as they become available. What you are describing only happens with watches because it's the same line item (Apple Watch+Band in one line item).

Oh ok. For my watch that didn’t happen. I ordered on release day but had a huge delay because I’d the band I chose. Guess they don’t want to ship a watch without a band thought.

That's a different scenario though. When you order a watch with band you only add 1 item to your cart, the watch+band. With the other scenario you add 2 items, phone and then a wallet. They won't break up an individual line item.

I was in a local store and they had wallets and cases to try on your phone. I tried the wallet on a bare phone and on a magsafe silicon case. I walked away sort of not really impressed with the magnetism of it but the wallet DID add a nice feel to the 12 Pro and make it more comfortable to hold.
