Then sue Apple, I'm fed up with people finding things to have a go about. It's the same material as the 6s, be it sapphire or not, I've never heard anyone complain about a scratched lens cover before.

You haven't heard of anyone complaining about a scratched lens cover before BECAUSE THEY USED SAPPHIRE. Now that it appears Apple isn't using sapphire, or a less scratch-resistant version of it, the complaints will start. Only time will tell...

On my 5 and 6 I always wiped the lens with my shirt knowing it wouldn't scratch (and it never did). I hope the same will be true with the 7

I await the non-existent flood of complaints about this issue. Only time will tell I guess, but I'll be the first to apologise should Apple actually be misleading us (I very, very much doubt it).

Exactly. Jerry Rigs has a 6s scratch test on his YouTube people can see. And he confirms the 6s has Sapphire with a scratch test. However, the 7 DOES NOT. So And that means lens will get scratched easier.

it used to be Sapphire on previous iPhones and it only makes sense that is Sapphire now on the iPhone 7 as well

Did they lie? I don't even remember them mentioning sapphire now that I think of it. Either way, it be bad for them to lie, or even just quietly not using sapphire anymore.

You'd be surprised how much companies mislead and deceive consumers with gimmicks. They ultimately care about money no matter how they present their product. It's all about convincing the public with top tier
Marketing. Apple makes good products but they have gotten lazy lately.

Does he scratch the 6s cover with the same tools? No he doesn't. In his 6s video he only uses the blade which doesn't scratch either phone. Please re-watch what he actually does.

It will be fine, this youtube idiot is a nobody without his precious internet fanfare. When an actual expert chimes in with opinions that matter, then it will matter.

Until then, wipe, flush and don't look back....

It's on their page. Tech specs for the 7

Not exactly. He only used a razor blade to test the 6s. The 7 didn't scratch with a razor blade either. Only the calibrated pics.

DID HE ACTUALLY TEST TO see if it's sapphire or scratch it with a razor blade!?

He should actually test it instead of speculating with say a hardness pic pr better yet a diamond tester that senses rare conductive materials such as diamond and sapphire.

Do a test since you're so confident in apples words. I'd trust jerry Rigs anyday over a bunch of Apple fanboys that will ignore the evidence.

I find it very difficult to believe that in a year where the upgrade focuses on the camera, that they would publish detailed specs indicating sapphire lens cover and not follow through.
http://www.apple.com/iphone/compare/

I would need to see more compelling fact-based evidence to believe otherwise. My opinion of Jerry is that he is a narcissist publicity nut and not unbiased in his reviews. Others can believe what they wish and sell their phones or not buy one in the first place.... the crazy with this phone release is like nothing I've seen before.

I literally can't watch the death and dismemberment of a new iPhone model until supply catches up with demand. It bothers me that people buy them to destroy them, when it could have gone to a loving home. :(

No freaking joke.

You are a very ignorant person. At this point, nobody is arguing whether or not it's legitamite sapphire. It's impossible to conclude if the 7's lenses will scratch easier than the 6s based on the two videos by Jerry. The only tool used in both videos provided the same result (no scratch). It's entirely possible still that the 7 uses the same material as the 6s, WHATEVER that material may be.

Then what are you going to do about it? Since you're outraged and disenfranchised. You starting g the class action suit? Or is this more a slacktivism thing where you only express outrage and then do nothing?

EDIT: If people are really carrying around objects sharper than razor blades with their iPhones, they'll have more to worry about than whether the lens cover is sapphire or not.
Sand can easily be harder than a razor blade and easily finds it's way into pockets of active people. That is the only reason I use glass screen protectors.

You're the one that doesn't find truth in the facts being presented. So I challenge you to back those words up. Clearly not....
So moving along.

All I'm doing is presenting a problem. Perhaps I'm educating people in a way so that they can avoid damage to their lens.

Maybe they just went with a cheaper variant of synthetic sapphire or something not as hard.
Apple also conveniently forgot to mention that their telephoto lens did not have OIS and had a smaller aperture when they were boasting about the bigger aperture from last year and the fact that the smaller phone now has OIS.

I'll try once more then I can't do this anymore. As has been said, whether it is sapphire or not, we can't know from those videos. It is not an apples to apples (get it?) comparison. He couldn't scratch either with the razor and he didn't scratch the 6s with the tool that scratched the 7. We don't know if the material is the same, whatever it is, because it is not comparable in scientific terms.

May or may not be sapphire, those videos don't inform us either way.
