Along with unveiling the next-generation iPhones, the revamped Apple TV, and new Apple Watch Sport bands at its September 9 event, Apple is also likely planning to introduce the updated iPad mini 4 and the much-anticipated larger-screened iPad Pro, reports 9to5Mac.

While the event will see the debut of the 12.9-inch tablet, Apple does not plan to ship it until November, following late October pre-orders. A September introduction for new iPads is not in line with Apple's past iPad updates, which have come in October for several years running, but Apple may be introducing the iPad Pro several months early in order to give developers time to create apps for the new device.

Apple also plans to introduce the iPad mini 4, a significant update that brings the 7.9-inch tablet in line with the existing iPad Air 2. It appears the 9.7-inch iPad Air 2 may not be updated in 2015, with Apple instead focusing its attention on the iPad Pro and the iPad mini 4 and pushing the iPad Air 2 update back to 2016.

New Macs are also not expected to be included at Apple's September event, and with the iPads being debuted this month instead of next month, it's unclear if we will see two fall Apple events in 2015 as we have in past years.

Today's report warns that while Apple's plan is to unveil the iPad Pro at the September 9 event, the company could choose to delay its introduction until October.

In addition to a larger 12.9-inch display, the iPad Pro is expected to include an A9 processor, 2GB of RAM, a Force Touch-enabled stylus, and perhaps USB 3.0 ports that will support peripheral devices. The tablet will run iOS 9.1, an update to iOS 9 that will debut in November when the iPad Pro launches.

ProPad & Stylus looks interesting, if the price point is right.
Putting the touch sensitivity in the stylus make the product line easy.

Can I use the AstroPad with it?

Another question to pose about new iOS products is the usefulness of “Music” streaming on a wifi-only device.

Explains the larger venue. And if there are no more Mac announcements scheduled for the year it doesn't make sense to hold an event just for the iPad pro.
So, iPhones 6S, iPhone 6S+, new Apple TV, iPad Pro, iPad mini 4, new keyboard, new magic mouse, new Watch sport bands .... anything else?

This will be an expensive month!

You don't have to buy it all you know...

When did we stop reporting RUMOUR and start saying things like "While the event will see the debut of the 12.9-inch tablet"?

Still extremely dubious about an "iPad Pro"

Dear Apple,

The iPad Mini is not the toy of the iPad line. People such as myself actually enjoy using a smaller iPad size when traveling. Please stop using yesteryear's chips in them. Please bring the spec of the Mini up to the Air's standard.

Wow! That would be one busy as heck event. Think about it: they would be announcing the iPhone 6s, new Apple TV, the iPad mini 4, and the iPad Pro (I predict this will be announced as "one more thing"). All of the devices mention are iOS-related devices, which leaves Apple to possibly hold an October event specifically for Macs.

No Air 3? :(

I'm not trying to complain because I know there is a lot of built up excitement for the iPad Mini and Pro, but I'm finally ready to upgrade my iPad 3. A mini is too small for me and a Pro would kind of defeat the purpose for me.

I'm very skeptical of this, although it would be a pretty awesome event.

Those are a LOT of new products to be announced at once, and the attention would be heavily divided between the 4 of them. Guess we'll find out soon enough!

WOW . this sounds like going the way of the iMac . eliminate the 24" and only sell a 21" and 27" model.

Not offering a NEW iPad Air would further diminish MY eco-system experience . and it's pretty low already.

I can see myself using an iPad Pro for work. Two apps on screen at the same time: one for meeting documents and one for my note taking app.

I see the iPad Plus being introduced this year. Apple could have released it years ago, instead they saved the larger screen hype for the 6+. iPad Air and Mini hype is dying, here comes an iPad Pro. Apple is phenomenal at marketing.

Air 2 is already overpowered, so I can see it remaining the same a little longer—although having it updated for a hypothetical first-party pen would be nice.

Maybe that update will happen early next year, avoiding bottlenecks in production of the pen digitizers for the Pro. And at the same time, making the pen (just at first) an option that sets the Pro apart.

I'm definitely wanting a larger iPad! MOBAs at 13" with direct touch!

A little big for e-reading... so I'll simply keep one of my old iPads around for that. (Or if I didn't have any, a Kindle would do the job. Seeing as how iBooks still has no deal with libraries, and Amazon does.)

What if the iPad Pro is simply the next iteration of iPad that would've been the "Air 3"?

I'm eagerly anticipating an iPad Pro. But so far everything has been rumor and the rumors have been all over the place.... so I can't get too jazzed up over it yet.

I hope this is true, with so many iPhone leaks and so little solid information about the iPad Pro, much less a stylus, I've started to lose hope. On that note, what does "Force Touch enabled Stylus" even mean? I'm kind of confused how this technologies are related.

But yes, please Apple, ALL I want is a QUALITY stylus with the iPad form factor. Otherwise I will be migrating to the Surface 4.

Normally, I would say hogwash....BUT Apple is renting out a 6000 room (basically) for this event. There is going to be some serious products being talked about/introduced. I actually think this makes more sense right now vs the TV part. I still think its possible they both get announced, and we have 3 new sets of products released. This isn't going to be just a normal apple event, IMHO

Tim Cook: "All right guys...now that we showed you the iPad pro and Apple TV....I want to thank you all for coming....and ONE MORE THING"

Everyone is whoo-ing-

Tim Cook: "We want to tell you that.....EVERYONE IS GETTING FREE U2 ALBUM!!!"

Everyone is boo-ing.

Tim Cook: "Thank you, have a great day!"

What a load of crap. If it's two well known rumor products are coming for this event...I'll be throwing tantrum at Tim Cook. "where's my computer...where's my mac pro!!"

Unless the iPad Pro runs Mac OS, it does not deserve the "Pro" moniker.

Really? They'll need the Mac OS to become cash registers in a frozen yogurt store?

That's a "pro" use and iOS suits it just fine.

Most people around here seem to wear "pro" like some sort of I'm-better-than-you badge. Like, my job is so important it's PRO.

All pro means is "business use." Next time you see a TGI Fridays waitress enter your order into an iPad, remember, that's "pro" too!

Maybe that is Apple's way of introducing pressure sensitivity?

I'm with you on that. But I'll end up buying the latest non-Pro full-size iPad instead (rather than the Surface 4)
