Anyone notice how it’s the cheapest phones of each generation that aren’t getting it :p This is apples way of punishing you

Jokes aside I guess the minis aren’t getting it due to the screen side and the XR and 11 due to the lcd screen

I believe jailbreak community made it possible and beautifully so back in iPhone X era, probably implemented in the same way. Now we get it, and apple says “no, these devices, just no”. Like why? Those percentage numbers are small anyways.

Having the battery percentage exclusive to select iPhones is one of the dumbest things Apple has ever done.

Sometimes I believe Apple thinks with their butt first then their head.
It's probably one of the smartest moves if you can turn it into a "new" feature only available on the latest iPhones, or at the very least, exclusive to a range of newer, more expensive iPhones while omitting it from newer iPhones that are less expensive, are smaller, have less expensive displays, etc.

The iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 both get it. The 11 doesn't likely due to its lower resolution display.
I'm sure it'll come down to something as trivial as Apple wanting this new percentage bar + percentage number combo to have a certain fixed size across all devices.

Giving it the same size on iPhones like iPhone 11 would make it illegible unless Apple makes the combo slightly bigger for iPhone 11 and similar iPhones, like the Xr? I don't know.

But you can always get yourself a new iPhone 14 and solve all your issues at once, just like Apple wants you to.

I always do what Apple wants...time to buy that iPhone 13 Pro Max to tide me over until the iPhone 14 Pro Max comes out. ;)

I have an XR and this is disappointing to me. If they can display "4G" in a tiny font next to the battery icon they can display battery percentage.
You would think that but Apple has other thoughts on the matter.

iPhone SE has a LCD screen and it shows the battery percentage...so why can't the iPhone 11?!?! 🤦‍♂️

SE2 user here.
My phone has always shown the battery %age on the lock screen, right from day 1 when I turned it on in preferences. And my 6S before it. And my 5S before that. And my 4S before that.
I had absolutely no idea this was a 'thing'.
Yes i'm running the latetst iOS.
Why is this feature implemented so differently across the range?
Notch issue, maybe?

Or maybe Apple is just lazy.

I do get that Apple has certain aesthetic and technical principles that have to be followed for iPhones to appear consistent overall, regardless of what model you get.

What I absolutely detest is Apple not allowing the user to toggle between the percentage number or the percentage bar if the new icon doesn't adhere to Apple's UI standards for certain iPhones.

If the percentage number with no icon behind it is allowed on the old non-notched displays then certainly. Then a green dot could appear when you're charging, or a yellow or red one when battery is low.

Toggling between the percentage bar or just the number should have been an option from iPhone X and forward.

Orrrrrrrr, we can wait another month and a half to see what all the other betas and the final public release has to offer. Maybe they’re still tweaking it on some models. Maybe they aren’t.

But if nothing changes after that, burn them at the stake, play William Tell, or make Apple pie. Whatever.

What about the iPhone SE??? It shows the battery percentage.
iPhone SE doesn’t have notch, so unaffected.
Uh, if it is newer SE I don’t remember. 2016 one unaffected.

Also, it would be great for you to use multi quote.

I’ll wait for the final release to comment, but I will say that Apple stratifying features in an arbitrary manner is not going to make me upgrade any sooner. Apple is guaranteeing themselves that I will now upgrade when I’m damn good and ready and they still aren’t going to be able to steer me to more than I can afford for some of these silly so called “features”. Again, I suspect this will be fixed in the next iOS 16 beta, but it gets tiresome to watch Apple continue to make simple PR mistakes in pursuit of the must have annual iOS release cycle. This is executive suite driven pure and simple, not engineering driven. It’s getting old, Tim, really ******* old.

Switched from the 12 mini to the SE2 now have an SE3. Didn't realise how much I missed the touchID and won't go back to FaceID as long as there is a touchID phone available. Of course, both the SE2 and SE3 never had the battery percentage removed, I'm totally amazed how Apple boxes itself into corners with these silly notch designs. Now they've brought this nonsense to their laptops and everyone is trying to explain why it doesn't really bother them that much and nobody is actually saying they like it.

Apple, please! Notch is terrible UI design!!!!!

Lol its a little embarrassing that we even are talking about such a trivial feature and that Apple is even commenting on it. Its freaking battery percentage...

Don't get me wrong, I'm amped about it too, but the Android Police have to be dying laughing at us.
