Apple's way of naming their processor is perfect. A1, A2, A3, etc and when there is an X at the end, you know that it is more powerful version of the same family chip. Nobody thinks that iPhone 11 is "too old" just because there is iPhone 12 now. This is off subject but I really hope Apple doesn’t name all of their processors the same way they do with iPhones, m1, m2, m3 etc. I’m sure a lot of people won’t care but at least with Intel they stuck with i5, i7, i9 etc for years even though they were updated and had other names.
It’s not a big deal but I feel like people will begin to assume their MacBooks are “too old” once m2, m3 etc come out and in a sense always feel out of date, where it wasn’t exactly so obvious with intel, maybe it’s just me though.
For years, hardware was released at WWDC. It’s most definitely not unheard of. Developers develop for hardware, after all. They were trolling silly people who thought hardware was going to get released at a software developer conference 😂😂
65% of WWDCs have had hardware releasesFor years, hardware was released at WWDC. It’s most definitely not unheard of. Developers develop for hardware, after all.
Ok why not iPhone 13, apple watch 6, etc? Even AR/VR, cant remmeber which, was rumored (not the glassed but a headset)Because there were no realistic expectations that any of those would be announced.
Most people think their phones are too old when a new version comes out, it’s literally why there are so many people who upgrade their phone every year for no real reason other than getting the newest.Apple's way of naming their processor is perfect. Considering they flexed how many viewers they had at last years online only WWDC right at the start of this years WWDC makes me think it’s quite important to apple to get as many views as possible.Ok why not iPhone 13, apple watch 6, etc? It's VERY specific to use a Macbook and unreleased chip name.
I dont buy "for the views" Do you REALLY think Apple cares about YouTube ad revenue or views? Especially for a dev conference for free software.
Actually, I spotted it before Max, but I just didn't report about it.The tag, first spotted by Apple YouTuber Max Balzer on Twitter
Somebody else mentioned that tags do get added automatically by YouTube.Probably just someone at Apple being good at SEO or Youtube literally self-generating tags based on recent trends.
Also, if that were true, why wouldn't they have also included tags for M2? I've seen people posit the name M2 as the name of their next processor more often than I have heard M1X. If the goal was to reach people searching for rumored terms, M2 makes more sense than M1X. I think what's much more likely is that they changed plans somewhat last minute because of the display shortages. The tags are meant to reach out to users looking at related videos. Youtube has been FULL of rumours that an m1x macbook was coming at WWDC. Someone at Apple's social media team is good at their job and used the tag to get more eyes on the video
I've seen M1X much more than M2, but yes I've seen both. Also, if that were true, why wouldn't they have also included tags for M2? The main things I have heard about are M1X MacBooks and iPadOS when searching for WWDC this year as they were expected to be the two main headliners… yet iPadOS wasn’t even mentioned.I've seen M1X much more than M2, but yes I've seen both.
I could go the rest of the year without having to read about another "Prosser Leak" on MacRumors. The guy is wrong 99% of the time but he still getspress like we are supposed to actually take anything he says seriouslyclicks as MR peeps love to debate everything he says.
A lot of people use iOS and iPadOS interchangeably, for obvious reasons. The main things I have heard about are M1X MacBooks and iPadOS when searching for WWDC this year as they were expected to be the two main headliners… yet iPadOS wasn’t even mentioned.
