well the twitter update is a little disappointing.. only retina display support, no bug fixes or UI changes.

It's so pretty. Anything that has CSS or Text looks epic. And when the images/icons are in retina - its just pure porn.

Retina is definitely the reason to get the new iPad.

Thank you Tesco for selling at midnight! :D

Looks like my retina update didn't make the deadline. Bummer, I was really hoping to make the iPad launch.

My apps are waiting for review since the weekend :( my alarm clock apps go into retina mode on the new iPad right out of the box, but no mention :( Maybe if we pool our psychic powers we can make the app approval demi-gods hurry up a bit...

I hope, now that the iPad's resolution rivals that of desktop displays, we start to see apps that, once purchased for the iPad, are downloadable in a form for desktops at no extra cost.

Considering the sudden tidal wave of retina iPad updates in my app library, there is no shortage of retina support even in the first week!

(Grrrrrr. Have to delete some music to fit newly-larger apps! Oh well... 128GB iPad in 2013! I’m almost glad there’s no 128 now—gives me a reason to keep my wallet shut and stick with my iPad 2.)

Apple expects the following apps to be approved by tonight:
Facebook
Flipboard
Roambi Analytics
Roambi Flow
Wired

None updated as of yet...

Good thing that's what happened, then.

What? Have internet posters completely misread an article and then blame Apple for that?

Yeah, it does seem to be recurring...

What is recurring are his posts consistently finding fault with A, so predictable that it makes skimming past them a habit. Still not sure why people love to spend time knocking, consistently, a product they rarely use. Like a wacky guy near my University who used to go into the Chevy dealer on Figueroa and rant about how good Toyota was, weekly, then walk out. My buds say it's people with time on their hands and axes to grind, and this is a free way to do it. Whatever floats your boat.

That link is misleading - it leads to a "download Itunes" link, not to a page about "The new Ipad" apps.

Works for me..

Nice idea, but I wouldn't hold my breath...Apple software can hardly be described as "Overpriced"

Yeah...I hear ya...I'm sure fanboys here will reply/scream "but it's not even released yet!!!!" but the fact is that more than 32 apps should be ready to go on Day 1. Out of the tens of thousands of apps (and yes, I know not all NEED to be retina-quality), we have a whopping 32. I was really expecting at LEAST 100 on launch day of iPad 3.0. This seems to be a recurring theme with Apple since Apple was born....release something new/cool/exciting and have almost nothing 3rd party ready to launch with it. :(

I think you are overreacting. There are 32 that Apple is calling out right now. A lot more will be updated quickly. In the meantime, they will look no worse than they do on the current iPad.

Twitter is already updated. Facebook will take a real long time as they always do I bet. They have some secret beef with Apple.

Their beef with Apple is a secret? I thought both said have been pretty obvious with their disdain for the other.
