Possible. Proportions and positions are about right. We can't see the artwork present in the lower half of the box in the video though.

Black fill-in is the easiest around.

My guess is a lazy graphics person at Sony wanted to say "Hey! I used Shake to do part of this!"

I wonder if Sony use an in-house Graphics/Design department or if they outsource it completly.

An hour already and Sony still hasn't pushed the big ABORT! button. They could simply and quickly remove the "smoke" layer from the animation methinks.

Seriously this should be front page news

Check this out

We called Sony's PR and, after a few tries, they finally saw it, too. They were as surprised as we are. After finally seeing it, their response: "that's f---king funny." The PR firm is looking into it. We'll keep you posted as the story develops.

Im sure it was just someone being lazy who decided to use the same smoke effect.

Still there for me.

Blatantly just Shake with watermark. Foolish Sony flash designer.

Rich.

[update 2: According to the PR firm, Sony will be making an official statement later today. We'll update as soon as we get it.

Can't wait to hear the spin. ^_^ )

Quick, everyone jump to conclusions!

Although it would be good, just imagine.....

Sony PS3
Mac Pro
30" HD Cinema Display that can play PS3 as standard

All for some crazily high price :D

oh man, I missed it by less than an hour.. :(

oh well, it's not like this is the first time sony have cut corners.

The cost of Blu-Ray must be really putting the squeeze on  :D

Ok. Here is my bet on how Sony' PR will explain this:

"The smoke/Apple layer was a temporary placeholder. It was meant to be replaced with our original filmed footage but a disigner forgot to switch it before it went online…"

:p Should work.

Anybody has a better idea?

I blame it on the gnomes... always messing with those darn flash files... Crazy little buggers

Can you imagine if Sony packaged, say, a $1000-$1300 version of the PS3? Say with the following specs:

Cell Processor
2 gigs of ram
250gig hard drive
Blue Ray of course,
HDMI and DVI out
Built-in wireless
Oodles of USB ports, maybe firewire on the side
OSX Tiger Preloaded

Toss in a mouse and keyboard, an ACD and imagine the possibilities. Who wouldn't throw down the cash for that? A PC replacement with Mac Pro gaming power at iMac pricing.... It would murder all Apple hardware sales, which is why this will never happen, but I can't help but think of how amazing this would be. I'd never leave my desk again.

it seems like it was Photoshoped to me.

have you been reading anything here? It was actually on sony's site first of all; second, it's an animation, not a still image; you can't photoshop an animation.

as had been already said here, it matched up perfectly with a default shake animation, so it was probably nothing more than the guy making the video being too lazy.

next time, read the thread before replying. is that so hard?
