as had been already said here, it matched up perfectly with a default shake animation, so it was probably nothing more than the guy making the video being too lazy.

Well, others have said (in the digg link) that it looks like they just used a MBP box to blow smoke at so it would fall evenly.

I think a multi-billion dollar company like Sony can afford to buy its animators real copies of software..

actaully wasnt there a rumor that sony was debating on weather to use panther or linux instead maybe they also worled out somethin with apple to let u put osx on there? who knows maybe will hear somethin in august?:)

" we hear you..."

could this have something to do with Jobs comment about the apple DVR/media center killer.

Would make so much sense for apple and sony. A shared enemy, a premium product.

All sony would have to do is to say they will let it run OSX legally. Apple can do the rest.

So the guy who was making it grabbed the nearest box, and it just happened to be an Apple box. *shrug*

Animator messed up, it's gone now. Nothing to think about other than "I hope the guy doesn't get fired!":)

now its pretty hard to see... but it isnt completely gone. it took me a while to realise that it was there. it actually fades away slowly makin it really really hard to notice it. it's really just a little mark now... its still kind of funny... but i dont think it means anything at all

Well, it is very clear what this means... the PS3 is actually the new powerbook, and it will be released next thuesday

and THERE in THAT building, we have been developing the PS3 together with our friends from Sony.

well that not Cool. If Apple were to support/pair with any game companies it should def. be Nintendo.

Would be Nintendo just for the profits.

Too bad I missed out on all this. was out swimming yesterday so I missed everything. haha. excellent though.

Could someone upload the original swf? I don't see any smoke or something - they removed everything. So it would be interesting to have a look at the swf how it was before. So if your browser still has cached the old version please upload it here or something. thx!

Click me (zipped)

Load it in Safari but you may have to ctrl-click/right-click the animation and choose 'Play'.

In a recent update to the PLAYSTATION 3 section of www.us.playstation.com website, an external error was made during the upload process and the Apple icon was mistakenly placed on the site. We immediately fixed the problem and apologize for any confusion this may have caused.

Classic Sony explanation. In that it explains nothing.:p

Well, in any case, people with glossy screens can see it better, I guess, unless you're in an office or outside:)

(still trying to figure out wether I'm happy with my MB screen or not)

I have a hard time believing that this is meaningless. Of course it's a "mistake" because it was not supposed to be visible at that time but it has to have some kind of meaning. Perhaps it's something as simple as having iTunes (or even Front Row) pre-loaded on the PS3.

Historical note; the PS3 can run Mac OS X:

http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=25229

I wonder - we know Mach is probably gone in Leopard, Apple loyalists are defecting to Linux, Sony has stated more recently that PS3 will come running Linux, Apple and Sony are in bed, Apple needs more hardware driver support, Apple is hemming and hawing about kernel source for Intel, they say wait a little bit longer ...

Does this mean OSX 10.5 will be based on Linux?

Bring it.

I sure hope not. I just couldn't stand the sound of "Apple Mac OS X Enterprise Linux Client Edition." If Leopard ws based on linux, all apps would have to be ported to X11. Either that, or cocoa would have to implimented, would make it not be linux any more. Basically, OS X will always be BSD based.

well... we could start the same old definitions discussion here again (Linux is just the kernel) but perhaps some other time ;) Also, GNUstep is able to run cocoa applications...

This is what I Think

This is what I think will happen:

Sony will get a stripped down version of Leopard to run on PS3 and in return, Apple will get exclusive compatability with all PS2 and upcoming PS3 titles.

win win win.

imagine the ps3 being the missing link in the mac os media center. It will be able to record, download and playback tv and web content on your bigscreen as well as play ps3 games, blueray movies and streaming content from your mac or ipod.
