Very weird. I have not experienced any of these issues and I got my iPhone XS Max on laucnh day. Verizon here. Not using a case either (just in case that has something to do with holding it incorrectly).

He's technically right since he said "on Verizon" - they've exclusively used Qualcomm historically.

If a majority of the issues are on Verizon then you can be sure it has to do with their quirky LTE handoff / handover - Qualcomm had that mastered since their modems (and modem drivers, software, etc.) are on pretty much every Verizon device. Intel has little experience in that arena with Verizon.

Software tweaks will likely improve it. LTE handoff on Verizon was horrible early on and has improved significantly since LTE was first released, but is still very much imperfect.

It could possibly be a regional issue For Verizon. I have an iPhone XS Max on Verizon and have not had any issues whatsoever. My firmware is 1.07 ( or something like that)

LTE signal seems fine. WiFi on my 8+ after iOS 12 was nutsy and my Xs MAX has same issue so I don't think it is the Xs MAX.

After iOS 12 my 8+ would say I have 2-3 bars of wifi even though I'm sitting right next to my router... then it would drop connection, reconnect, drop connection repeatedly. My Xs MAX does the same thing on iOS 12. (Resetting network fixes this only temporarily).

LTE seems fine. Maybe a bit less, especially if under a desk or under a car dashboard - something I never really noticed before but ... if it wasn't for these macrumor articles, I'd probably never even notice. So I guess mine is good.

I have had this problem on my X on ATT, Apple replaced the phone in August - still continues so working with Apple today. Did a clean install of OS12. We’ll see if this fixes. Here’s what I saw on SpeetTest this morning.

It's happening on every carrier so it's likely bad hardware . Return your phones now before Friday ! Don't expect apple to fix these problems . Your 14 day return period is near !!!

Markets seem pretty worried as AAPL closes at an all time high.
Apple is censoring there support forums and the media for now.

Everyone report this to your local media ! Let's put pressure on Apple to do the right thing and fix these 1k plus phones.

Stop spreading nonsense. You short? Post facts on how many phones are impacted. For as many that have reported issues, there are similar stories of better or the same service. Also very little noise from overseas and very little noise in general.

Apple has probably already sold in the 20-30M XS models. This would be HUGE if it were a design/hardware issue.

It can happen, but it's likely limited to specific phones or very special circumstances. Otherwise, this would be a tsunami of complaints.

Again, stop with the nonsense. They are not censoring anything. They can't. If this were a huge issue, the voice would be too loud to quiet.

Watch this problem go away like the rest.

Why did reports of the charging issue go viral if apple was censoring everything on planet earth?! The answer? They're not.

I'm experiencing these issues on Verizon as well. Haven't had any trouble with Wifi but LTE is very weak and drops frequently. Did not have these problems with the X in the same locations. If I go into airplane mode and then re-enable it solves the problem sometimes but it won't hold the signal for long. There are definitely spots where I can get this to happen consistently. Hoping it's a software tweak to fix but we'll see. Right now LTE is definitely not reliable.

Apple is still nuking post left and right on there forum and banning people who post about it . What good does this do them when there are screen shots and proof of them doing so .

This seems software related. LTE performance for me in manhattan on my Max is off the charts fast. My issue is reconnecting to LTE when I temporarily go out of service like on the subway. My X was immediate. Even if LTE shows, things don’t always load.

I am so very happy for all you pioneers out there, taking arrows as you blow through the bugs, making noise and otherwise helping Engineering fix them. It's a hell of a good service.

By January it'll be safe for me to think about a new iPhone.

My WiFi sucks on the Xs Max compared to my Note 8 (Many times, it would say no internet connection where the Note is fine) . The LTE is also not as strong as my Note 8. Overall, it makes the phone feels laggy in comparison. I will be very raged if this can't be fixed by software... I want my refund. If it is fixed, I will be a happy customer.

By then Apple will have new Hardware that fixes the problem along with a new FCC report :)

Anyone having connectivity ( LTE ) issues with TMobile ? Occasionally, opening a webpage or even logging into an App takes a while, or just hangs.

Also, on WiFi, while the speedtest shows downstream/upstream speeds very similar to other devices, sometimes webpages take forever to open.

I will be calling Apple about this, just wondering if any other TMobile users are facing a similar issue.

My T-Mobile speeds are crap, but they've always been not-so-great. Perhaps a bit worse with the XS Max.

Consider yourself lucky. I am in Manhattan as well. My XS Max on AT&T is horrendous on LTE. ~1-3mbps download. Often shows no service. I had upgraded from a 7+ and the difference is mind blowing.

Again I think this further reiterates how there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to why some are having the issues and some aren't. If you read any of the other huge forum threads on the issues, it's impacting people across carriers and regions. Even those with the same carriers and in the same regions are having different experiences.

Like the article and others posting, I too have been in touch with Apple support/engineering teams. I have installed profiles for both cellular and wifi issue logging and have sent those to Apple. This is a huge PITA. I just want my phone to work as it should.

The team I am working with at Apple confirms there is a major problem . I am only posting what they are telling me .

Apple, perhaps the most secretive company in the world, have a "team" that are telling you they have an entire line of products that have a "major problem" that is "likely a hardware issue"? Is that really your contention here?
