We have been paying £15 a month for the Spotify Family plan for about 18 months now and I decided to give Apple Music a go due to them offering a free trial month.

Tried my hardest to use it for a week or so on the commute in place of Spotify but it just doesn't compare for me so regardless of the price, I just couldn't live with Apple Music for 1-2 hours each day.

Can you explain why it does not compare? Provide a bit of detail, so others can learn from your experience.

No, it is not included. If you want access to your own music, you need iTunes Match.

Incorrect. iTunes match is included in a Apple Music subscription. Apple says so themselves if you search for it.

I have never subscribed to iTunes Match. I have a family subscription to Apple Music. All of my old ripped music was uploaded and about 90% matched. Then I downloaded all of the matched files and deleted my old ones because the matched versions were better quality. They are not protected by DRM.

The only items that get DRM are downloads of songs from Apple music that you have never bought or ripped yourself. They don't want people subscribing for a month, downloading thousands of songs, cancelling, and then keeping them forever.
