Is Daniel Craig going to stop or not-stop being Bond? Every time I read how he hated it, an article popped up about him accepting the next movie.

In hindsight that was clearly him posturing for a pay raise. I'm sorry the powers that be took the bait. He is my least favorite bond.

If this means I can't buy or rent Bond films on Amazon, Netflix, or some other platform agnostic service then I'll be pissed. Apple, for all its hot air about net neutrality, is extremely hypocritical. They want unfettered access to the distribution mechanism yet want to restrict the content in order to drive consumers to their service. Here's a wild idea Tim, how about competing on quality rather than exclusivity.

As its hunt for original television and film content heats up, Apple is now reportedly looking to land film distribution rights to the James Bond film franchise (via The Hollywood Reporter). Warner Bros. is said to be the front contender, but Apple and fellow tech company Amazon are both in "hot pursuit" of the spy series.

Sony's distribution rights for James Bond films ended with the release of the latest entry, 2015's Spectre, leading to multiple studios and companies vying for the rights. Sources close to the deal said that Apple and Amazon are willing to spend "in the same ballpark" as Warner Bros, "if not much more," in order to beef up their respective streaming businesses. Besides these companies, Universal and Fox are also pursuing the rights to the franchise.

The deal is said to include the streaming rights to the entire James Bond film back catalogue, and potentially even "the future of the franchise." In recent James Bond news, Daniel Craig confirmed he'll be back to play the titular character in future movies.
Newly hired Apple executives Zack Van Amburg and Jamie Erlicht are said to be spearheading the effort to acquire the James Bond franchise on Apple's behalf. Those close to the deal estimate that the property could be worth somewhere between $2 billion and $5 billion.

I understand he's committed to the next one.

I only saw like 2-3 James Bond movies, but i would rather want Amazon to win the bid and get the full library as i already have Prime subscription (or Netflix). Even though we are %100 Apple household, i have zero interest in subscribing into another streaming service, especially Apple since they do not offer anything that would interest ne

Or better yet, make iTunes media available on other platforms like Amazon, Netflix, etc.

I suppose the only reason for Apple to do this is so Amazon doesn't get it. I love James Bond but the franchise is dead. The new stuff is an embarrassment.

It puzzles me though why Apple would bid on this and did not on NFL streaming rights. Live sports is the only growth area in TV right now.

I heard that money may have affected the quality to some degree, at least that would explain some of the weak parts of Spectre.

The main advantage of Bond over the NFL is that it's more international and they likely think has a certain prestige to it.......as well as opportunities for product placement, it could be particularly useful in the Chinese market.

Somewhere inside Apple Park sits one Edward Cue, envisioning a world with him as Bond, with Bond driving a Ferrari instead of an Aston Martin.

Should have went for Mission Impossible instead. Seeing them go to use Surface Pros as there only computers in Rogue Nation put me consistently on the edge of my seat waiting for them to rage quit and throw it like the NFL players did or have updates 1 of 300 installed haha

Hahahaha! I can't stop laughing at this. Would've been hilarious to see.

Apple would probably want Bond to wear the Apple Watch, use the iPhone, the MacBook Pro, iPad and then possibly drive the Apple Car instead of the Aston Martin!
Finally would come the black turtle neck top!!!

Guess he'll be using iPhones and Q will use Macs in future films instead of Sony devices hahaha.

However, my only gripe is I wish Apple would reinvest this money back into their services like Maps. I want Maps to succeed but it needs much more work to catch up to Google Maps. Funny that India and China are huge focuses for them, but their country maps are still lacking.

You tend to change your mind when someone pulls up to your house with a dump truck of money.

If it comes down to Apple vs Amazon, I'm guessing Apple will prevail. Amazon just spent $14 billion on Whole Foods, which represents about 6x their annual net revenue and almost half their equity reserves. Their board will consider that. Apple has so much more cash than Amazon it's silly, and is laser focused on banner content. Even though Bond has become somewhat of a caricature of itself, distribution is certainly an income generator and the new films (sometimes explicably) continue to make money. Good move.

I hope this doesn't happen.

"So Q, what have you got for me today...?"

"Nothing today 007, but just wait, we have the most amazing gadgets in the pipeline, honest!"

"But that doesn't help me today Q... I could be dead by the time you finish work on these new exciting projects"

"Why are you so stuck in the past 007! This is the FUTURE we are talking about! Don't worry, your next set of gadgets will be the thinnest, most beautiful gadgets ever! You'll want to show them off to every villain you meet before you even use them!"

"OK, what've you done with the real Q?"

*Q pulls off face mask to reveal his replacement, known only as 'I' before running away*

Apple, focus on your current products that are already lacking!! And release the new modular Mac Pro already! My goodness...
