You are quite correct...

It's either a case of Apple not understanding, dare I say, honor and the UK Court - or just not caring (which would indicate arrogance on their behalf)

And for those just tuning in. I know this thread is long. But here are two things to remember

1. This judgement has nothing to do with whether Samsung copied Apple or not. This judgement is about Apple contradicting the verdict publicly and the UK court reprimanding them for it.

2. And this can't be emphasized enough. Apple CANNOT just post whatever they want in their "correction." The court has mandated the exact wording down to the font and font size.

Or Apple could just say NO. They've already won a law suit in the US. They aren't obligated to do business in the uk. If people like their products in the uk there are other countries people can buy them from.

And this is why the rest of the world sees American's as they do. You really don't portray yourself in a good light.

This is hilarious. Apple, say your sorry! Is this an adult court or did Apple sue in kiddie court? Did the court find that Apple just made up the complaint? Just to spite Samsung? If Apple is of the opinion that a competitor copied their products, don't they have a right to take them to court? Win or lose, its their right. An apology seems like they did it just to hurt Samsung. Clearly they both have lawsuits against each other all over the world with both sides winning some and losing some. Obviously there is an issue, it wasn't just made up. An apology is absurd. I'm sorry I think you copied my product? This judge is a moron, and I'd say that no matter who apologized to who. That isn't how law works.

If the situation was reversed, you'd be praising the judge and talking about justice.

You can bet your life on that too, the fanboys on macrumors have an unhealthy obsession over Apple, its been going on for YEARS at Macrumors:

Not a good day for judgements in Apple's favor...

http://www.zdnet.com/uk/us-judge-orders-apple-to-reveal-profit-margins-7000005999/?s_cid=e589

Lucy Koh just ordered Apple to reveal profit margins
I like the way this is going. Backfiring lawsuits with increasingly unexpected and weird rulings all across the globe might encourage Apple's legal juggernaut to take it down a notch with this lawsuit madness.

"The court rules that Apple must replace its corporate typeface with Comic Sans in all publications and advertising material for no less than one year, and that the only background music allowed in televised advertisements for Apple products is 'Friday' by Rebecca Black. Also, chief executive Tim Cook shall at no time be allowed to wear pants or any manner of garments below the waist line when appearing on stage during keynote presentations."

Where did you pull those stats from?

First quarter, world wide shipments of smartphones: Samsung 42% Apple 35%

http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/01/idc-q1-2012-shipments/

First quarter... Do I even need to point out that excludes nearly 30 million iPhone 5 sales?

I think that the world is bigger than US teenagers

Read that again, NORTH AMERICA. Canada, United States, Mexico. That's a good quarter of the world right there.

----------

Shipments does not equal units in customers hands.

Hahahah excellent! Thank you for also providing logic

Shipments does not equal units in customers hands.

Exactly, Apple's earning miss should have thought us that. If you ship too many units in a quarter and report record "sales" of 35 million units of iPhone products, you could have a QtoQ drop to 26 million units in the following quarter, were we learn that the channels had too much inventory and thus shipments were reduced...

Oh wait, if channel stuffing has an impact on the following quarter, how is Samsung posting such high numbers quarter after quarter ? Maybe it's because the phones are actually selling to customers and the channels need to be replenished ?

No, that can't possibility be right, only Apple actually sells phones to customers, no one else can manage to move any units at all..

Read that again, NORTH AMERICA. Canada, United States, Mexico. That's a good quarter of the world right there.

World Population : 6,973,738,433
Mexico Population : 112,336,538
United States population : 311,591,917
Canada population : 34,482,779

By what weird definition of a "Good Quarter" is 458,411,234 a quarter of 6,973,738,433 ? Heck, that little known hellhole known as Europe (you might have heard of them) has a population of 739,165,030 ...

Please post a valid source with the claimed stats or do yourself a favor and tap out. Please post Q4 stats... oh wait, Q4 isnt over yet. Bummer.

I´ve posted hard facts, all you´ve posted is made up numbers. Same stats counts for Apple.

So whats next step here? You claiming that 90% of all iphone owners are 99% more happy with their phone then galaxy owners?

...maybe in land mass, but 40% of all teenagers in North America doesn't even cover a 10th of the worlds population.

Of the world's population no you're right. But of the smartphone using population? A significantly higher number.

World Population : 6,973,738,433
Mexico Population : 112,336,538
United States population : 311,591,917
Canada population : 34,482,779

Yes, excuse my ignorance. I arbitrarily decided landmass = directly proportional to population. (Serious remark, no 'biting sarcasm' here)

True. And Apple could still appeal to the next higher court, the Supreme Court.

I think they've already exhausted their legal means in this case. As far as I understand it, this was the last instance.

Good for consumers.

The UK continues to be the laughing stock of the EU. Such an infintile outcome.
The Crown Jewels used to be something. Now they're located under the bombastic Judge's belt line.

Pathetic.

How's that karma doing, apple?

LOL, wasn't steve jobs a Buddhist? He should know the concept of karma biting you back in the ass if he was still alive, running apple.

This seems ludicrous to me. Companies get their reputations damaged all of the time by other companies or individuals. I'm not saying it's right, but it seems to be the way of the world. I've never heard of a company being forced by a judge to publish notices that another company didn't rip off their designs. That, to me, doesn't seem like the sort of thing that should be within a judges power.

I'm waiting the day when Apple will provide pressure-sensitive pen support for its iDevices. Will Samsung sue Apple?
