Anyone else seeing "we're making a few updates" when checking store stock?
Yep same here. I keep refreshing. I expect two things to happen. Either more phone will be avaible or more likely the IUP and in store reservation will be shut down for the night until the morning either tomorrow or Saturday. That's how it was last year. Having to check every morning at 8 A.M. to see what came in.
 
Yeah, I'm picking up my iPhone 7 tomorrow then returning it when a plus comes in. I normally wouldn't, but my rep encouraged me to when I called in...plus my store still has stock available.
I canceled the one I got yesterday. It was a Gold 7+ 256gb verizon. I could have picked it up tomorrow at 11 a.m. But I really want black (jet or Plain). I compromised last year for Gold. But since I put it in a LifeProof case color really didn't matter. But since the 7 is not water(proof) I don't need the Lifeproof case and can get a slimmer one.

IUP seems to be up again at 5:00 a.m. the 16th. Still no 7+ black 256gb Verizon at my store:(
And down again at 5:11? maybe I got though before on a fluke?
Backup at 5:20 but now says if the phone is not in stock check back at 12:01 a.m.

Do not just do a refresh of the web page. I keep getting different answers. I using the Apple store app on my phone. I have to go all the way back to the begining of the order process. To get IUP for current IUP users

Man this thing is changing constantly. Now it has an option to fill out a short form if you can't find the one you want so a specialist can help you. Damn it now I'm going to be doing this all day just make sure you go back to the begging and not just refresh the page

Apple has created an endless stream of free publicity and attention like they do every year. Nothing like chaos and drama to grab headlines. They built a billion dollar company off hype.

I got that email too. Said they got me the 256gb 7+ in matte black that I requested (I both called AppleCare and filled out the website request form earlier this week)
So I decided on a whim to check the iPhone upgrade reserve site as before bed it was making a few changes. Then I managed to see the 128gb ATT 7+ in jet black was available today and ready for an appointment. I bit the bullet and chose it, I'll just have to conserve my storage space a little better for the next year. (16GB left on my current 128GB 6S+)

Storage would be one thing I won't compromise on. I'm still pissed that the 256 gb iPad Pro come out later. Hell if they sold a 1TB version I would buy it

Yes, I got that email an hour ago, even though I have a reservation to pick up a phone this afternoon. I assume my existing reservation supplants this email?

Yeah it should. If it's the one you want that you can get today then get it. I'm still trying to get on today or tomorrow. If not I'll wait until Monday. Put still no Apple Watch for in store pickup

I am wondering what kind of availability there will be for 7+ 128GB in Matte Black for IUP peeps after launch day. I finally got the call last night from Apple Store person in Austin in response to my initial inquiry about IUP on Monday. Got the usual story that I will receive email within 72 hours with info about when my phone will be ready for pickup at desired location. Hopefully the wait won't be too long...
 
I reserved a matte black 128 gb 7 plus on Wednesday for pickup on launch day after being put on the IUP "list" after waiting on hold for 3 hours Monday. I received an email this morning saying my phone would be available by 9/26. Lady at check in just said sorry. I don't get why they would take reservations if they didn't have the inventory.

This is what I'm afraid of, especially considering I have a 45 minute drive to go to the Apple Store. I wonder if it's worth calling about my reservation before I drive down there?

I don't think it's available for pick up right now. The email says "We will email you as soon as your iPhone is ready for pick up". They are just giving us a time frame of when to expect the phone in store for pick up.

Blah. Considering I also got the email reminder about my Friday reservation this morning as well, this is just all sorts of fun and confusion.

Check your Apple Store app. Is the Reservation still there? I canceled mine for today on Wensday because I didn't want to settle for Gold again. I got my new E-mail this morning saying a Jet Black 256 GB Verizon 7 Plus will be ready Monday the 26 with a follow up E-mail coming late for when it's ready. I'm still trying to get one sooner though. There is a Plain Black one available at another store but I don't feel like driving 2 hours each way. I may do it tomorrow though since I'll have time. But hopefully one will show up at my store.

It is! Thanks for the suggestion! So, I might as well make the drive. Worse comes to worst, I'll just have to go back Monday or whenever they email again. Thankfully, rose gold is what I want. Good luck in trying to get a jet black yourself!
 
I got an email too... but it was for a Jet Black 256GB iPhone 7 Plus on Oct 3rd... I had requested a Jet Black 128GB iPhone 7 Plus. I think I'm just going to stick with my reservation for a matte black 128GB iPhone 7 Plus I have for today. If the scratching is apparent as they say it is, it would drive me insane and the thought of smudges would be annoying as well. I wish there was a way for me to contact them to so that they will relinquish the model to someone else who wants it.
 
I got the email, for the 7 when I requested the plus. Had another reservation, so just trashed email and talked to store so someone can get the phone.
