Its a super sweet set of things specific to their project (not some nice pen set). I'd love that if I worked on that project.

Here in the U.S., I haven't had to fall back to Waze (Google) or Google Maps for years now, maps has been great...of course they'll keep updating the places and ways its not up to snuff yet.

As a cartographer the quality of the maps is abysmal. After all this time the idiots still don't get correct text placement.
One would think, as a professional and ‘Cartographer’ as you claim, you wouldn’t insult Apple employees over a discussion Internet forum calling them ‘idiots’, but yet, share your direct experience through Apple Maps feedback link. That’s what a real professional would do, as Apple is open to suggestions and user feedback for improving.

Junk like this would motivate me if I was still a kid, kind of like those gold and silver stars that teachers would place next to your name on a chart when you were in kindergarten. But as an adult, I see it more as an insult.

Want to thank me?

Yeah whatever just give me the bucks n keep the medal except if u made the medal with gold in that case give me the medal and the bucks u know what i mean
I would assume these gifts are extra bonuses in addition to the standard pay and Christmas bonuses. I would only be upset if it was in place of those.

Money is necessary for to live in today's world, but it's the little things that makes living worthwhile.

Still don't trust it over Google Maps.. might have some cool graphics but when it comes to navigation, traffic, rerouting, I still trust Google Maps.
That's because Google Maps' eco-system has WAZE to thank for the traffic and route updates. I'm still use and print out Mapquest maps along with my Thomas Guide.

How do you know @G4DPII didn't submit feedback already?

How do you know Apple didn't ignore @G4DPII's feedback and suggestions?

Why can't @G4DPII do both?

I didn’t indicate that user didn’t, nor did I suggest they never had. I made the suggestion that’s what a real professional would do. So in light of that, that said user can now expand on your questions to openly admit if that’s exactly what they did by providing feedback.

Thanks for expanding on this. And if that user did provide feedback, I’d love to know personally what it was and how constructive one can be in light of improving, not ‘name-calling’ for the sake of being derogatory. There’s no need for that.

That’s true, but the best job Google Maps is doing is not to drive you through your destination, but to provide your data to Google. So I try to use Apple Maps every time I can.
Apple maps really isn't bad anymore. I fully agree that upon introduction and through 2018-2019 it was not great. but they have steadily made improvements and its really decent. I will never use google maps, as I don't trust google with anything.

Yup. #CanConfirm. I reported an error and it was fixed within a week.

And that’s called constructive feedback. In some cases, Apple even replies to the user with Feedback with further questions or clarification if needed. That’s how you make a difference in exactly what you did. Props to you.

If true, that’s because their cost of living is much less than the cost of living in the US, presumably.

BTW, as someone who used to get gifts like this in Silicon Valley, the universal reaction by employees was “just give me money and keep your tchotchkes.”
"tchotchkes" lol. (yes, I know it is yiddish)

Apple has been revamping its Maps app over the last few years, with the updated experience providing more detailed coverage of roads and buildings, faster and more accurate navigation, 3D views of landmarks in major cities, and more.

In light of those efforts, Apple recently sent a unique gift to some employees working on the Maps team, according to a LinkedIn post shared on Reddit. The gift package includes some custom Apple Maps pins, stickers, and imagery, along with a small card thanking employees for their contributions to the Maps app.

"Each and every one of you has your fingerprints on Springfield," the card reads, suggesting that "Springfield" might be Apple's internal codename for the revamped Maps experience. "Thank you for all of your distinct contributions to this product and for building on the legacy of great work here at Apple," the card adds.

Apple's revamped Maps experience is available in the United States, Canada, Australia, UK, Ireland, Italy, Spain, and Portugal.

"The map has been rebuilt from the ground up, with better navigation, richer detail, more accurate information for places, and remarkable features that only Apple can deliver, like Look Around, Share ETA, and more," said Apple's services chief Eddy Cue, when the revamped Maps experienced rolled out to Australia. "Now it is easier than ever for users to find the places they love and get to where they're going."

To be fair, with the amount of issues and adjustments I’ve had to report, I feel I deserve one of these packs..! ?

Apple map is better than Google map on iPhone now. But hope it add offline map download.
It's better as a map. But people expect more than just a map from their maps app...

- Search is still better in Google. Both are imperfect (and Google now continues to display more dead businesses than Apple) but I usually feel that if I can't find something in Apple maps, I will find it in Google.

- Google is MUCH better (as in *the only game in town*) for showing you how busy a location is -- very helpful for DMV, Post Office, that sort of thing.

- Both are pretty useless at what should be obvious extensions of their basic job. It's not especially easy/successful in either one to look for, eg
+ parking
+ a mailbox (so I can drop off a letter)
+ a publicly accessible toilet

It's nice that Apple is making Maps pretty with Known Features and suchlike, but this seems like a continuation of Apple's single biggest problem right now -- an obsession with prettiness at the cost of functionality. It's nice to see some Landmark rendered artistically, but how about Apple apply some brainpower to making Maps MORE USEFUL, starting with the suggestions I have above?

You know, Apple Maps gets worse and worse the further you are away from California. When it reaches Japan, Russia, and China, it's... not that much better than trash.
Really? New Zealand is quite a long way from California, and Apple Maps works perfectly here.

Yes, it’s a solution, but not so handy
It's not that much extra work, and I'd way prefer it to letting Google Maps sit in the passenger seat and watch every move I make. For most of the places I go, I have them on my calendar already with the address pasted in, and they show up automatically in Apple Maps at the time I'm ready to go.
