After just over two years of stellar service from the old one, I just setup a fresh new 27" Retina 5K P3 model. It's 3.3 GHz / 32GB / 2TB Fusion.

Besides actually doing resource demanding work to justify this model, it is nice to have the performance of this configuration.

You don't think the upgrade to i7 is worth it?

That's someone in charge of marketing for ya... They'll make it accurate in every turn and point our your faults. *rolls eyes*

At least we can agree HE is always correct then.... we all make mistakes... no need for a grammar lesson... We know what they meant, but obviously it frustrates someone enough to go public and teach.

They've really lost control of the names... It has become so convoluted with so many iPad and iPhone variants. They should just market the phone as a single iPhone 6S, coming in three sizes S, M , L. Same with the iPad, something simple like that would make it so much easier.
I do not think it is cool to say : I have the Large iPad? or the small iPhone? But I agree that they have to come up with better names.

Dare somebody tweet back saying "One should also never have products with 16GB storage capacity in 2016"

"iPads Pro" obviously sounds wrong,no one talks like that..but iPads,iPhones, etc sound very natural and correct..
buttom line is who cares really..

Come on Steve, it's iPad Devices!

"iPads pro" is clearly wrong, but I think I'll stick with "iPhones", "Macs", etc when pluralising.

Sorry Schiller.

Of course, the plural of "Court Martial" is actually "Courts Martial", and if you're really picky, it should really be "Gins & Tonic" when ordering drinks....

He's fighting a losing battle. Give it up. If I'm referring to more than one iPhone, I will call them iPhones. What he's suggesting is just stupid.
....and that is how marketing works. Rightly, Apple marketing should implore using "Apple iPhone devices".

Gotta love Apple in the post-Jobs time. Less focus on original product development, more focus on semantics and LGBT promotions...

This is a talk any good IP attorney will give you. For a trademark to continue, it should only be used as an adjective.

To keep a trademark, a company should never use marks of trade in other parts of grammar for public communication. Using a trademarked term as a noun or a verb dilutes the value for the mark.

Trademarked terms such as Xerox and Kleenex have been compromised because this diluted use in ads and press releases.

I think you meant to say mark of trade phrases, not marks of trade.

I don't understand the people saying "Oh, this is stupid" - it's not stupid, it's how Apple likes things referred to. I've seen so-called "long time Apple customers" refer to iPad as:

~ IPAD
~ I-Pad
~ iPAD
~ i-PAD

etc.

If you were taking inventory of a stock of iPad units, you would say "There are 1,289 iPad Pro units in stock" which is effectively the same thing as Schiller is saying; he is clarifying that the product brand name DOES NOT and SHOULD NOT change, because it is a brand name - the singularity is "iPad Pro device" and the plurality is "iPad Pro DeviceS" which ensures the brand name for the product does not become muddied and confused.

It's perfectly good English, and I am an Englishman telling you this FROM England, thank you very much.

Oh, and lest I forget - it's LEGO, not LEGOS, because, in the same respect, to change from this is to alter the brand naming. Do you call more than one grain of rice, "riceS"?

I am truly impressed with your efforts to support Apple. Your love for Apple must be very deep! One of the best Apple apologies I've seen yet.

Well people, let's not forget Phil Schiller is the man who said the iPad Pro is a device meant for those 'sad' people using 5 year old computers, 5 year old computers that are still more capable then their iPad Pro that is..

So it's not surprising seeing someone as obnoxious as him tell you how to speak and make pronunciations, he would fit right in as a leader in a dictatorship country eh?

Okay look people, no one here is saying that Phil is incorrect about how the devices are to be referred by his employees and on official forms, we are saying that it was horrible of him to make it public. Obviously this has had an effect on many people because this is not the only forum talking about it.

I think people are upset because looking at it in a more extreme view, we have had two world wars to give us our rights to freedom of speech we all enjoy today, and that includes modern day proper pronunciations, no one is going to say I have several iPad, it's stupid.

Uh oh...
I don't think Phil would like that "S". Better find a way to rephrase that if you want to get a decent mark on your AppleSpeak™ test.

Of course, concentrating where the S goes is so much more important to Apple than upgrading the macbook pros, or increasing the minimum storage on their devices.

innovation at its best
