No thanks. I would assume the price point would be high enough to justify a refurbished MacBook Air instead. I'll stick with my iPad 2 and it's form factor for now.

A larger tablet makes sense.

A larger phone does not.

No amount of trying to rationalise it will change that, either.

Disagree. A larger phone does make sense.

Older people with bad eyes or even those who use their device more for its smart features vs the voice features, that want to see more information on the screen but still want it to be pocketable.

A Note2 will fit in a persons pocket unless they like wearing skinny, tight jeans. Apple probably won't go that big even though the iPad mini is portable it won't fit in a persons pocket unless they wear cargo pants/shorts.

Why does a larger tablet make sense? More so if it's only going to continue to run the iPhone OS and not change the OS to take advantage of the screen size or do split screen multitasking. I still don't get why Apple hasn't added split screen to the iPad

It may would make sense if a hospital type setting but I think it's pushing it for the home user.

Include a phone on the ipad mini and I can finally only have one device.

True. But buying one device that does it all is counterproductive for a company that wants to sell you three devices that all do the same thing at varying sizes.

Yeah, since we all love those phablets....

Far more educated and well informed people say we do. YOU may not, but there's 100's of millions of dollars of consumer cash going to say that dumb big phones are a very successful niche.

I think you're the only one saying this.

I'd agree, if you can show me a 13" tablet that's doing extremely well in the market, and a 5.5" smartphone . . . . say one made by Samsung, that's just tanking.

AT LAST!!!!! ... some innovation from Apple ... although more of a good idea than true innovation!

That aside, I'd buy it - the size difference between my iPad 2 and mini doesn't really justify owning both, but this and a mini would cover every base!

Of course (I'm sorry to say) being Apple, I doubt we'll see it, because lets face it, when have they really given us anything we want (they just make us believe what they have given us is what we want/need!).

If it does come to fruition though, for gods sake Apple, give us an SD slot not expensive memory options, give us NFC (even my new TV has NFC!) ... and maybe even wireless charging ... think hgow much you could make Apple on a charging pad (yeah, thats got your atention ow hasnt it :) )

Thats your opinion, one that millions of Android users don't agree with, including all the millions within that figure who jumped ship from Apple because Apple didn't give them a bigger better screen (the EXACT reason why I jumped from a 5S to a Nokia 820, Galaxy S4 and now Note 3).

You may not want a bigger screen, but just because you don't want it, doesn't mean a larger screen doesn't make sense (thats just a silly statement to make) ... and no amount of trying to rationalise it will change that, either!!!!

If you guys think holding a device that's bigger then 10" is too much, I hate to see what you guys look like.

Imagine if you have a desk job and must use the filing cabinet. OH NO THE HORRORS! THE FILES ARE BIGGER THEN AN IPAD!!!

I think you're wasting your time reasoning with people who post comments like this. Ironically this reasoning obviously also exists within Apple ... the result being a reduced stock price and millions of users moving to the competition!

Even at that size, iOS 7 will limit folder view to 9 apps....my only complaint with iOS 7 on the iPad....

I actually love the idea of it. It would go perfect with an iPad Mini. iPad Mini for portability, and iPad 13" to watch or play games places like airplanes. Paired with a MFi controller. Awesome.

It will be a real pleasure for the guy seated next to you in the airplane ...

Uh… iOS 7 surpassed iOS 6.x installations over 2-1/2 days ago. You might want to give it a try, see what's in there.

I have installed iOS 7 on my iPhone and iPad. When you tap a folder it only shows 9 apps on either device; you can page through it, but that doesn't take advantage of the large screen of the iPad which could easily show many more.

Btw I like iOS 7 a great deal, just being snarky.

Why stop at 12 inches?

Finally the iTray! So I can surf the web and carry my lunch.

I cant see it getting much larger than 12 inches though. Lugging those things around would be a chore. 17 inch laptops could fold and protect the screen.
This would need a pretty sturdy cover to avoid cracking the screen with anything else you might dare to carry with it.

I was making a joke. And yes iOS 7 limits folders to show only 9 apps at a time on the iPad.

That's just sad! That much screen real-estate and only 9 apps in a folder? So you essentially have to make two folders for 12 apps?

Bring back 17" MacBook Pro machines now, dammit! We're not getting any younger here.

Please don't make me cry! The 17" had the best of both worlds. I've been drilling into the PC market and the only company that "gets it" is Razor and it's Blade, but gaming rigs just aren't my thing.

The Retina at a higher resolution comes close, but I don't want to have to squint at UI elements to get the same space.

Because there haven't been rumors of Apple testing larger iPhones...

Please. What compels people to post this negative, knee-jerk crap?

Calm down. There have been plenty of rumors of a larger iPhone.

Why?!

Seems absolutely pointless to me. The point of the Ipad is portability and being able to carry it around. That's why the iPad mini is so popular. They would need to at least add USB to it

Apple got the domain iPhone.org in 1999 and rumors persisted from then until 2007.

First real iTablet rumors came in 2004, and persisted until 2010.

Real innovation takes time, patents, registrations, etc. There is no way the idea of something like iWatch or iTV won't get out, but it's the details that Apple has always surprised us with.

No it don't take 3 years to make a damn TV. And telegraphing all the new stuff in R&D and letting everyone else come out with it first... Keep trying that method and see how much more the stock will fall. Since tim "Doubled Down" on security leaks.... You know every detail before it comes out. And for your info... The iPhone was thought of then... but you assume it was in development that long? Lol... NOT. Just because they filed a patent don't mean they were developing it... they weren't. they dropped the project completely untill 2005. Don't tell me apple is not slipping. the amount of leaks is ridiculous

And yet they can't make a larger iPhone....
And that is a very good thing. Phablets are good for no one.

Apple did it's research and they worked out the best size for an iPad is the one we have now. I don't know what the **** Apple did to allow the mini. But meh it's here. And larger is not always a better seller. The 17 MBA didn't sell well enough so it was axed.

This is just some random analyst saying what he wishes from Apple. That's all.

This is a joke right? You forgot the /jk at the end.

A convertible Retina Macbook Air w/touch that runs OSX and iOS apps would be interesting lol. That would never happen though. I'd love a bigger tablet for sheet music though
