this mockup looks terrible. the edge to edge display won't go to the very end of the curves.

I agree but didn't have much time. I gave it another try and updated my post. Still, I'm no 3D designer and have to deal with raw 3D renders from illustrator and images I found on Google.

The real risk of a slightly thicker iPhone would be longer battery life resulting in millions of additional happy customers...

By itself slightly bigger battery doesn't mean longer battery life. If you ad some hardware or software features that will eat up that extra battery.

Oh and web os sucks as a tv platform.

Why do you think that? Have you tried WebOS 2.0/3.0 on a relatively recent (2015/2016 model) LG TV?

In my experience it beats every other Smart TV interface I've seen.

Don't need to bother. I'm not going to show you research proves that the world is round either.

Either do your own research or have enough humility to bite your tongue.
Cheers ;)
Shouldn’t. Have. Bothered.
Do your own research, If you don’t know I’m not going to tell you etc. etc. the answer of someone that instead of backing up what he/she claims, has nowhere to go.

Seriously. That’s the best you can do?
A bigger battery capacity means longer life whichever way you look at it.

Yes.
Sadly not to me, I can tell you it's not the worst interface I have encountered. Never get a Loewe. Serious pos.

I’d rather have pure black given the choice. I watch a lot of movies on my phone and this is especially apparent. As for whites, I suppose they do have an importance but I already think the iOS interface is excessively white.
Sure, blacks are more important....

Does this remind you of something ?

You admittedly have an iPhone 5S and you watch "a lot of movies" on it. On a 4" display...
Ok... :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

It's not this forums purpose to educate you.
Why should any one take you seriously?

I don't understand the basis of these reports citing these types of major changes to the case during an "S" year model. I'm not saying it's not possible, just that the people making these predictions don't make much of a case -- no pun intended.

I just feel that all Apple have done is release the same products year on year for the past 5 or so years, or since Jobs passed away. I'm not saying the two are connected, but there was a picture making the rounds a week or so back which showed Apple's product line up over the past couple years highlighting how similar the all were. What I'm saying is Apple need to bring something new to the table with iPhone 7. Although it's Apple we're talking about and they're bosses at sustaining growth, I think people will begin to switch off if we don't see something new soon.
This is just an urban legend... My iPhone 5 was substantially different from my iPhone 5S that was substantially different from my iPhone 6 that was substantially different from my iPhone 6S.
I could bet iPhone 7 will be substantially different too.
I didn't regret any iPhone I bought. I did regret every other manufacturers smartphone I had to use in the meanwhile.
I'm not going to switch any soon.

Not sure I’d go that far. The iPhone works well and is nice. Sure it could be better but I think the term garbage is a little OTT.
He was referring to Samsung...

about 2 years too late. I cant believe they are releasing the same model as the last 2 years this year. They knew that the 6S was having sales problems and they needed something new.

Wouldn't be surprised if we get iPhone 6se this year with slightly simmer body, better camera and no headphone jack.

Then next year iPhone 7.

A totaly black iPhone with a seamless OLED screen? Please, take my money! Cant wait to see a moving wallpaper on a device like that!

Edit:
I couldn't resist to make a quick mock-up about my idea of a totaly black OLED iPhone. Would love to see it blacker than black.

Looks great - I assume by 2017 they will have found a way to maybe cut off the chin and forehead, even though unlikely can you mock it up in a way that the top and bottom non-screen areas are reduced, might look gorgeous if the screen were to flow around the home button?

Don't you realize how absolutely inane that statement is? You could use the same logic to justify an 8GB iPhone. After all, if you need more you can just pay $100 to double, another $100 to go further, etc. right?

A phone with a 4K camera simply should *NOT* have 16GB of storage. That's just pathetic. you can shoot barely 20 minutes before you have COMPLETELY filled up your storage. Wow. Especially when it would have literally cost pennies for Apple to have put 32GB instead. No joke, not even a dollar. NAND flash has gotten so cheap but Apple seems stuck in 2011. It's sad and pathetic.

But worst of all, a $750 phone with 16GB...???? Come on now. There are Android phones less than HALF that price with 32GB. What a joke.

I used to be an iPhone guy even since the first back in 2007. But these days the iPhone is an awful joke, a punch line.

I hope that this year, when Apple does move to 32GB (it really just had to at this point), I hope their profit margins take a HUGE dive because they truly deserve it.

its not about how much it costs them but how much they can make off of you. It might only cost them a few dollars to put in the larger drive but they know they are getting $100 if they dont so why would they.

Upgrade cycle for the massive # of people on the apple upgrade plan will not be as big of a deal. Many have resigned to paying the same monthly price and always knowing they get the new phone each year. Those customers would welcome a 2017 full redesign because they are entitled to it.

In addition the customers who chose that plan but will actually skip the swap at end of year one and wait out the full 2year pay - are also up for a big renew- at the end of year 2 which is also 2017.

And white is almost always more important than black. In everyday usage you encounter way more white than black. I'd rather have good great white and ok black.
Correct. This whole forum board is WHITE. But how can you argue with someone that watch a lot of movies on an iPhone 5S? And btw blacks on an iPhone are great. Not good as an OLED , for sure, but great nonetheless.

If these rumors are true they may as well delay the "7" name until next year. I'm still using my 5S and happy with it, found the 6 and 6S ugly. If they're gonna keep that garbage design till 2017 and do a major update then, I'll wait for it. Apple wouldn't get my money this year.

And quite frankly I don't see why anyone would buy a 2016 iPhone under these circumstances (unless they really needed it.)

When I hear things like this I always think back to the lack of MMS. Actually Apple until you get around to implementing your ‘perfect’ solution I’d rather have some capability as opposed to no capability.
It also reminds me of the ‘perfect’ Apple TV. Apple disguised its awful interface and lack of talent by calling it a hobby.
Oh and Siri. That was deemed beta for a while right? Another example of a perfect product released early maybe?

I have Siri and choose not to use it. I’d rather have the option to use it than not at all.
And Apple was right about MMS, since as of today NOBODY use it.

I do, yes.
I rip them all with Handbrake and watch a significant number in bed and also at work when we might have to provide site attendance to monitor our kit during third party works. The iPhone is a content consumption device no?
