Eh, barely any customization these days. And the phones cost identical. Actually, I think the s7 is more. S7 = $792 and 6s+ $749
True, brand new unlocked Galaxy phones are competively priced with iPhone. I guess I'm thinking about a Nexus device such as 6P or 5X having a cost advantage with comparable specs.

I have used an Android phone since the Atrix in 2010. And Windows since 2002, which was the Audiovox Pocket PC. And Blackberry since 2004 for work and then the 8310 for personal in 2007 .

My iPhone has been my main device since 2014. I've used and continue to use all platfirms and this is the best for me. Ever since the 5s, which clinched it for me.

So I don't come from a place of bias or fan girl, but one of personal experience. I don't care one flying fig about specs or benchmarks. I care about what's best for me, my preferences, my use case. Some of that are aesthetics. Some of that are how the phone fits my life.

So if a new iPhone comes out like the SE I get it because I loved that design which speaks to the aesthetics and compact form. So if in the future Apple comes out with a design that looks like the iPhone 4 I will get it because I loved that design.

I will have iPhones as my primary device as long as the devices fit my life and give me what I like. I switched from Windows to BlackBerry to iPhones as my primary device. If something comes out that suits me better I will get that and switch. But Android has never been compelling enough to me to be my primary device. Not since 2010. And the SGS7 won't change that because nothing about it makes me want to drop my iPhone.

Okay, I wasn't necessarily asking you to defend your decision/position on using an S7 Edge, just giving you a tip to alleviate your concern with the display. But, since you've opined, after reading your statement I gather two primary points: 1) You may just like your iPhone because of aesthetics 2) You may like your iPhone because of "how the phone fits" with your life

Those are fine reasons, and I cannot argue with you (however weak and laughable I may find them for a piece of technology) if that truly is what is most important to you. However, I challenge you to name one actual thing (ie not looks/emotion but actual functionality) your iPhone does better than the GS7 edge you're trying right now. And, while you're at it, pull up a nice, vivid youtube video and compare the screens side by side. Compare the cameras, Enjoy using a file system, Enjoy fast charging, Enjoy wireless charging. Enjoy incredible battery life. :p

this still is MACRumors, on a thread regarding a future iPhone. Who exactly cares about your S7 battery life ? There is a section about non-Apple products in this forum...

Somebody asked her what the battery life was like on the S7 Edge she is currently trying, and she didn't answer him because she hasn't used the phone long enough. I've used the phone for a while and posted my data to answer the question that was asked; does the incredibly awesome battery life of the S7 Edge offend your iSensibilities? lol :p

Calm down, friend. Have a cup of tea, relax. Represent the facts and be accurate. Slowly and carefully reread my comments that you have religiously followed with great interest.

All I am saying is that Apple is setting up customers for failure who buy a 16gb. Apple is being dishonest and deceptive in its marketing. Even a typical light user will fill up the phone incredibly fast rendering it useless. The iPhone 16gb product is not fit for its intended purpose and should be replaced with one with a much higher capacity at the same 16gb price point.

Choosing storage size might have been useful when the costs of storage were of some significance back ten years ago, but making customers choose a storage limit these days is just like getting customers to choose between CPU speeds. It's nonsense ********. All customers want to know is can they take a photo without getting a “storage full” error blasted into their face. Counting gigabytes is a relic of ancient PC days. Is Apple suggesting it’s ancient history?

The difference in cost between 16gb and 128gb is negligible to Apple and it simply can not justify the premium price it charges. It’s dishonest behaviour. The entry 16gb is designed to deceive, or give the impression to customers, that they have a phone within their price range, only to realise the total package means customers will exhaust the storage limit in very little time and be forced to look at a more expensive model. It's certainly not honourable for Apple to treat its customers like this.

Apple should supply only a single top storage level for each iPhone model at the lowest price making storage specs non existent.

For example with the current line up:

iPhone SE - should be $399 (includes 64GB, not $499 )
iPhone 6s - should be $649 (includes 128GB, not $849)
iPhone 6s Plus - should be $749 (includes 128GB, not $949)

This would be an Apple that thinks different, not same same.

Pour that cup of tea, friend and come into March 2016.

Seems you need the the cup
Of tea much more than I do.

So you're comparing Samsung and LG's TVs to a smartphone? lol. Now I can't tell you to personally try the S7's display mainly because I know the answer, you're going to claim that you've already tried it just to prove your argument. But it might be a subjective matter to be fair, but regardless, most people prefer the S6 and S7's display over every other iPhone except Apple fans. Now once Apple adopts AMOLED displays in their upcoming iPhone, you'll be the first one to fall in love with it and I can guarantee you, just don't forget.

Doubt it. oled/amoled are terrible at accurate color reproduction.

A couple of people have said that the curved edge is useful for eg scrolling, or could be used for different in-app
experiences. How does it work for left-handers though? Can you completely invert the Samsung phone
(that would be problematic with Apple's Home button)? Why not just have two curved edges (which would also be
more aesthetic)?

Samsung's edge phones now have curves on both sides of the display so you can use them to pull up your favorite contacts and apps from anywhere in the phone- so left or right-handed, you can still use it. I just think it's aesthetically hideous.

about 2 years too late. I cant believe they are releasing the same model as the last 2 years this year. They knew that the 6S was having sales problems and they needed something new.
Apple has a deeply rooted belief they're superior humans. As such they've convinced themselves that only they know best. Over two years late in releasing a modern sized iPhone with its 5.5" display, this gave Google and Android handset makers time to strengthen the foothold and mind share of Android buyers globally.

Apple still muddles about in the fog of Steve Jobs Reality Distortion Field.

Problem is I keep hitting the edges when I type and typing unnecessary and unwanted letters.
Really annoying.

Wait a minute, Tim Cook is on record for saying OLED is awful!

Cook, speaking at an investor conference hosted by Goldman Sachs in San Francisco today, called... OLED displays "awful." ....you should really think twice before you depend on the color from an OLED display," Cook said.

That was then and 2017 is 1 year away.

As opposed to Samsung who removed features with the s6 because they are superior humans as well who know best? What nonsense....riiiight.

It doesn't change what he said, but when it launches in over a year (if the rumors are true), the issues discussed/alluded to may be a thing of the past.

What he said wasn't true then - in 2013 Samsung OLED was independently tested as most accurate color, better than iPhones:

Cook neglected to say that on Samsung phones you can set you color preferences, make them (highly) accurate, under or over saturated, warmer or cooler, as you need or wish.

It is true that a lot of people seem to like having a more saturated look, but you can set it as you please.

In 2013 a saturated look gave me a headache, toning it down made it no better than led in my opinion. Not to mention the burn in.

It doesn't change in one plus years the technology could mature a bit and when cook made those comments he felt it wasn't ready for prime time.

Shrinking the bezels on the top and bottom of the phone and keeping the screen size the same or bigger is a good idea to me; the iPhone 6s Plus is a bit unwieldy (not unmanageable, but could be improved upon), when other 5.5" phones manage to feel more compact in the hand.

However, I think the Samsung Edge phones look hideous and are an accident waiting to happen. The curved screen means that the metal edges are awkwardly shaped, and having glass essentially on all four sides of the phone is just begging for people to break the phone. The description of this phone sounds exactly like a Samsung Edge, which I'd rather not see in an iPhone personally.

Just my two cents, but I think copying Samsung at this point is a bad idea, and not just because it's unoriginal. The curved screens are both unattractive and not particularly useful.
It may be unattractive to you but most reviewers call it the most beautiful phone ever....there is nothing unattractive about the S7 edge but their is sure alot of unattractiveness in the iPhone 6s plus. ...
