Yes and no.Isn't that already the new trend, called Mixed Reality?
Well, it has been said that Apple skates to where the puck will be, not where it has been, and the Mac mini is pretty much a has-been at this point. It's a solid computer still, but doesn't seem like it has much of a place in Apple's future. It's a damn shame, but the puck seems to be drifting away from those devices...
There are so many technologies that I wish only I had...Now, it’s more challenging and it would be cool to blink, take a pic, enter them into a database of names and basic info to supplement my middle aged memory. However, that’s also extremely creepy and I’d feel weird knowing someone was doing that while meeting me, so it’s one of those things I file under “be careful what you wish for” category.
This looks incredibly annoying and intrusive. I would hope Apple would do it in a much better wayJust gonna leave this here.
Definitely. And it’ll be right in the middle and be called “eye brow”Will there be a notch in the glass?

Reminds me of The Terminator. He would see a display telling him all about the target he was going after. I wouldn’t mind a less psychopathic version of normal looking AR glasses that could help me keep track of people. I have to do meet and greets in a volunteer position. When I was young it was not a problem at all to memorize 50 people a week at a job I once had. Now, it’s more challenging and it would be cool to blink, take a pic, enter them into a database of names and basic info to supplement my middle aged memory. What in holy hell... This is beyond obnoxious, like being trapped in a video game arcade or pachinko parlor. Hopefully Apple's implementation would be a lot more peaceful and relaxing. This is full-out assault on the eyes and ears.Just gonna leave this here.
What's also funny is how Apple champions itself on being green, yet it makes so many "disposable" products. Expecting to buy a totally new device every 1-2 years. And yes, I know Apple is a for-profit business. It would be funny to have to upgrade my glasses every year. My last upgrade was 4 years ago.
CAN WE JUST GET IOS TO WORK BEFORE THEY CREATE A 4TH OS!
And robocop
Not sure a Jony Ive design would be any better.Who's making these mock ups? They're sooo ugly!
Doubt it.
The point of AR is that it enhances your vision by adding stuff to what you see, not replacing it together (which is more along the line of VR). Looking at the Apple Watch, we will likely have to temper our expectations as well. It's still going to be a nice accessory with some cool benefits.
Basically, I am guessing that people will soon realise that the utility of AR is kinda hampered by the need to keep holding your phone, so the glasses essentially bring AR to you 24/7. Maybe a display which can continuously translate a foreign language for you in real-time? I am clearly not imaginative enough to come up with more "power uses".
Yes, it's where your nose goes. Will there be a notch in the glass?
Just gonna leave this here.
Everytime you'll move away from your phone, you'll get a bright red "disconnected" symbol in your periphal vision.![]()
Nice... Business will be booming for psychotherapists when this technology is fully realized.
Apple is ramping up development of an augmented reality headset that will have its own display and run on a new chip and operating system, according to well-connected Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman.

Apple aims to have technology ready for the headset by 2019, and could ship a product as early as 2020, the report claims. But the development timeline is said to be "very aggressive" and could still change.
The headset's custom operating system, based on iOS, is reportedly dubbed "rOS" for "reality operating system."Apple hasn't finalized how users will control the headset and launch apps, but it is investigating touchscreens, Siri voice activation, and head gestures as it creates prototypes, according to the report.Apple software engineers are said to be using HTC Vive headsets, while working on a device similar to an Oculus Gear VR headset that uses an iPhone's display and other hardware, both for internal testing purposes only.
An augmented reality headset is one of several hardware and software projects that a team of Apple software engineers are supposedly working on under the umbrella code name of "T288" in Cupertino and Sunnyvale.
The same team was behind ARKit, which provides developers with tools to create augmented reality apps for iPhones and iPads.
Gurman previously reported that Apple was considering a pair of smart glasses that would connect wirelessly to an iPhone, much like the Apple Watch, and display "images and other information" to the wearer.
The Financial Times has also reported about Apple experimenting with "several different kinds" of wearable augmented reality prototypes, as it tries to figure out the "most compelling application" for a headset.
Apple CEO Tim Cook alluded to any headset being at least a few years away during a recent interview about augmented reality.
"Today I can tell you that the technology itself doesn't exist to do that in a quality way," Cook said. "We don't give a rats about being first, we want to be best in creating people's experiences. Something that you would see out in the market any time soon would not be something that any of us would be satisfied with."
