I’m wondering how big will the 6.1” iPhone 12 be in my hands compared to my 6s 4.7”

The size lineup does not make sense to me. Let me explain... We currently have 5.8" 11 Pro, 6.1" 11 and 6.5" 11 Pro Max. Going as big as possible for the Pro Max is a great idea. Going bigger on the Pro is not! There are many people who dislike the 11 size (6.1") because it's too big for their hands and it feels too heavy. I don't see Apple risking the loss of this huge market (mostly women!) and pushing them to go for a small phone (5.4") with less features - camera - but a much lower price ($300 less) with less margin $. On the other hand, a 5.4" Pro would make a lot of sense and have the advantage of keeping the 5.8" Pro market and grabbing some of the low margin $ SE market.
In summary, I'd rather see a 5.4" 12 Pro, a 6.7" 12 Pro Max and a 6.1" 12 (same as the previous XRand 11, no need to retool anything).

I’m assuming that with the Pro at least, the bezel is going to be narrower such that the device size is basically the same as the X, XS and 11 Pro.

It might be a neat way of separating the different models. If the two 6.1” iPhones have different overall dimensions, the Pro could be the svelte one which feels better in your hand and looks way better.

Agreed. I'm very keen for the 5.4 but I definitely feel like us '5.4 crew' are part of a vocal minority especially here on MR. Sure it'll sell well, but I think the majority of people upgrading to one of the 12 series will already be quite happily holding an 8plus, X/XS/11, or Pro models and not at all fazed by the bulk of their current handset.
We aren‘t a minority. We are just undertall with small hands and it is hard to see us over the 6.1 and 6.7” phone mob.

As someone who's been very happy with my iPhone X for 3 years and barely come across a moment when it struggles, I was amazed the other day when Apple loaned me an 8 whilst my X was being repaired (battery swelling).

Considering these two phones ostensibly have the same hardware inside, I COULD NOT BELIEVE the difference in performance between them. The only notable difference I think is that the X has more RAM. The performance improvement this gives is really astounding. I found the 8 really quite unbearable and do not know how those persevering with the 6s, 7 or 8 are not desperate to upgrade.

With the X, I'm feeling like 3 years is quite a long life for a phone. But now with a new battery and screen I'm fairly content to keep it longer. It is – hands down – the best phone I have ever had by a huge margin. It doesn't feel slow. The battery lasts a whole day generally (when it was new and again now it has been replaced) and the camera is great. The UI is way better with the non-home button iPhones. So fluid. I cannot believe how great this phone was and is and how well it has stood the test of time.

Wow. They gave you a loaner? They barely did anything for me a few months ago when my battery swelled. They made me come to the store or have no phone for days, while I shipped it in for repair.

I agree though. The iPhone X has been a good phone. I would like the battery improvements of the newer phones. Camera improvements are cool, but I don’t really take tons of pictures.

As someone who is used to handling huge Android phones, a 6.1 inch iPhone 12 seems like the the perfect size.

Will be interesting to find out how much the 5nm A14 chip improves battery life over last year's iPhones, and if there's a significant difference in battery life between iPhones of the same generation but different sizes.

So looks like they are shrinking the batteries and not going with high refresh screens. Looks like I will save some $$ and go for the non pro model this time around.

still do not get the point of a 6.1 Pro and none Pro version if they all feature 5G but okay o_O maybe "an excuse" to make the 6.7 even more expensive?
You get that extra camera and a slightly higher resolution screen lol. But I agree. Not sure why there needs to be 2 6.1" versions. It made a little sense when rumor of the lidar camera and high refresh rate screen, but now seems both of those are a no go.

Id say battery will be worse with the addition of 5G. It's a shame they regressed on battery from the 11 series.

Why not just get the battery replaced? At least that way you have a device that someone else might want to buy / give to someone else. The cost of a battery replacement isn't that significant, not compared to a new phone anyway.

I'd rather take that $50 and just roll it into the cost of a new phone, honestly.

Your phone with a battery at 30% capacity is basically broken and worthless. Your phone with a new battery is probably worth several times the cost of the battery replacement.

Considering the almost four years of wear and tear on the device I can't imagine it being worth much more than $50 to be honest. Maybe $75 with packaging and cables.

Regardless, with my local Apple Store closed anyway I have nowhere to bring it in to service. I don't trust anyone working at Best Buy to not FUBAR the thing.

I agree the 6.1 will be the sweet spot. Especially if they can keep the overall dimensions to be not that much bigger than the current 5.8.
While the 5.4 will also be attractive to many who prefer smaller iPhones, it may lose out simply because it’s not offered in a Pro version.
If I do upgrade I will most likely go 6.1 Pro. The 11PM is already getting a bit large for me. Maybe if they can condense the bezels and notch enough on the 6.7 for the body to not be much larger than the 11PM, I might go for it.

Not trying to be funny, the iPhone 11 Pro Max with 512 gigs of storage is $1449, the new model will have a larger screen and 5G that apparently costs Apple more money to incorporate and if they do a 1tb option it will definitely be close to $2,000
Possibly, and I definitely predict this junk again:

64GB: $1199
512GB: $1549
1TB: $1949

I'm intrigued about what anyone would need 1TB on a phone. I previously had a 128GB 6s which was more than enough and then had to get the 256gb X when I upgraded. I use a bit over 70GB so the 64gb models really aren't big enough. But 1TB? Most laptops don't have SSDs of that size.

Nah the 512GB—>1TB would only add $200, that’s the price of the bump on iPads and Macs anyway. So the low, low price of $1,749 🙂

(Personally, as someone who buys down near the entry level part of the lineup, I’m ok with the upgrade prices subsidizing the base price.)
