Just yesterday I was commenting to my friend regarding the weak recent Apple ads. The final straw for me was the most annoying "Chicken Fat' iPad ad.
Chiat Day is a shadow of it's former self. Good riddance, if true.

If I'm not mistaken, the Chicken Fat ad was an internal Apple production.

I actually liked it, myself. It played on a tv at a bar I was at and everyone oddly quieted down and watched it, which was very odd to see.

As I was saying, for example, I'm now in Spain and they were airing an Apple ad while I was writing the last post.

The part I saw was about a black woman running, in california I suppose surrounded by asian people and so on.

There are quite not black or asian people at all in my country in comparison, the scenario and the way of living it shows has nothing to do with what I can see daily. It's like airing japanese shampoo commercials directly here, I don't understand how can they use that, it's impossible to empathize!

Was it Eddy who sent the emails in 2013? Wasn't it Phil?

I was going to post the same thing. And yes it was Phil.

Phil should have dumped them exactly after receiving their monumentality moronic email response.

It might have been like when people watch a train wreck? I stared at it like, "I just cannot believe that Apple thought this was a good idea".

Of course, I cannot stand Samsung ads at all, so good for Apple for not becoming nasty like them. At least they have taken the high road. And no, those Samsung ads are nothing like the "I'm a Mac, I'm a PC" ads. My favorite character in those was PC. He was so lovable, yet pitiable.

"Chicken Fat" is actually an Apple in-house creation.

Sadly, Apple doesn't make Macs anymore. Just phones.

629 days since the last update of the Mac Mini. Not that this is my preferred Mac. Just saying... Apple is concentrating on phones much more than on some of their computers. Too bad. There are some loyal Mac Mini users. They deserve at least a spec bump once per year. 2 years between even small updates... not good, Apple. If they do put out an update on the Mac Mini, it had better be as drastic as the Mac Pro update was.
Actually they still do, they usually update them yearly just like the iPhone and they just updated the Mac Pro and MacBook Air slightly a few months ago. there should even be more updates this fall. The Mac mini is a little behind but it should get a refresh soon. Apple says it all the time, The Mac is a big part of the company.

Must admit I was bored by about 15 seconds, skipped to bits, showing some idiot you can't do anything without wearing some moronic GIANT headphones, and gave up.

I get it that many Americans don't get (hate ?) that beats add, as they have no connection to soccer, but seriously, if you're in any way connected to the sports, as a fan or a player, that add was imo absolute genius !

Exactly, I suppose that's what happens, the same I was saying before, I can't get the american ads apple airs in europe.

I've been sipping the Apple Kool-Aid long enough that i could care less if they even made commercials or campaigns.. ha-ha

:cool::apple:;)

Exactly... and this is the genius of Beats - they convinced a whole generation that huge ass headphones are cool to wear at any time - you see folks bopping in the subway without a worry on how they look.

that Beats ad is AWFUL, from the unnecessary opening that so self-centeredly and conspicuously mentions "Beats by Dr. Dre Presents" to the slow, monotonous, melodramatic conversation urging the athlete to "run like a crazy man". That conversation was so unnatural. Who the hell do they think they are with this ad??? Jesus christ, give me a ***** break. A long 5-minute ad that tries WAY too hard to communicate the oh-so-subtle concept of "buy these headphones". I much prefer Apple's more subtle ads, although maybe that's not what works anymore. I really hope they don't lose sight of who they are, or feel like they need to change.

You and I watched different ads. The one I saw was compelling. Excellent soundtrack, with the cadence of Spartans going to war. Flashes of the culture from the participating countries. Visuals showed the passion that fans have for the World Cup participants and the passion of the Brazilian people. Can I assume you aren't a sports fan, because that conversation is the exact type of motivation fathers/coaches give sons in just about every sport imaginable. The mix of celebrity and everyman was a nice touch as well.

They may have been ticking boxes to get that result, but they ticked the right ones for their demographic. May not have been your cup of tea, as you said, you prefer Apple's more subtle ads. Nothing wrong with that. To each his own.

Why are there images of so poor people and poor surroundings? are these just 'atmospheric'?

why does this take so long?

what is the point of this ad!?

they totally disconnect the feeling or experience from the product. It's just a professional with headphones, the sum is not more then the parts.

Really? Apple will ditch their multi-million dollar ad agency for a music producer's advertising knowledge?? Hahahahaha… There has been some pretty silly reporting going on around here these past few months. :p

So you're not part of the target market. I haven’t been a part of the targeted market for most advertising since I was a kid, but that’s not to say the ads weren’t working just fine. And if Beats’ sales number are anywhere near accurate, their market is enormous.

Top comment: I would like to see Mac vs PC ads again

Other articles, everyone is criticising Samsung for doing 'attack' ads....

This place is confusing.... :/
