I'm afraid you're out of touch.

Snobs in here are going to learn a hard lesson.

A "hard lesson"? Is someone going to come execute us at night while we sleep? What an odd thing to say on a discussion board.

That said, for the first time in 8 years, I am afraid that Apple is on the road to a bleak future. I've been one of their most vocal fans for the better part of the last decade.

I wasn't even too concerned when Jobs passed away. But now the last few years have pretty much shown that Schiller, Cook, Ive, and Cue are having problems running the ship.

I hope that they just have something really special in store for this year, but so far the iOS 8 reveal (apart from Swift) was fairly underwhelming, and iPhone 6 rumors are just ... more of the same ... but bigger ... and thinner. iWatch seems more and more like a fitness thing.

The Mac is pretty much languishing, without any significant updates. But, perhaps they will unleash a blitzkrieg this Fall as Cue has alluded to earlier.

I hope so, but slowly I am personally divesting myself of reliance on the Apple ecosystem.

While I don't like it, you do have a point. Maybe Apple needs to get some of those soccer stars. Your comment just goes to show that racism isn't limited to the US. It's very much alive and well in Europe.

Ignoring his race-comments the author has a point about the ad probably only working for America, even though they often screen the ads globally. It won't work even in Australia. In fact I think it only works and targets a relatively small microcosm of America too.

Apple's air brushed and model-filled ads alienate me personally.

Visual communication of any kind is subjective so there's no 'right' answer here.

I personally love some of Apple's newer ads because they demonstrate their products and how they can extend 'you'. They work to set themselves apart from the competition by saying your tablet doesn't have to be a dumb browser. It can be used in a myriad of creative ways to extend yourself & help you push further.

Beats have also produced some truly great ads in my opinion. The one that sticks out in my mind and I've referenced here on the forums before is a breakdown of the music creation process with Rudimental. I watched this 4+ minute ad in front of a 90 second clip on YouTube and it captured my attention and if you read the comments... a lot of people felt the same way. The ad is available here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hz7HnQZ2FPc

Can we do away with the awful headphones? Anyone who wears them is a joke.

My friend got Beats Solo and my $15 IEMs outperformed those $200 pieces of garbage.

Why do away with stuff people like? Why not make them better instead? Maybe people want to do away with Apple products because people who use them are a joke...paying too much for less hardware.

The worst Apple ads of all time were those Genius ads
See below,

Those where pretty bad :) To me it seems that people who are in charge of products or program development should not be handling the ad campaigns.

Microsoft is a perfect example of how not to advertise your products. They have managed to kill quite a few by extremely bad ads.

When everybody involved in the decision has more money than they will ever need and is on the way to retirement the creative spark takes a beating.....

But I can understand why Apple is choosing Beats as their advertisers. If Beats can get a lot of people to buy their $HlTTY headphones, then they must be amazing at advertising. Just think what the Beats folks will actually do with quality products like Apple stuff. ;)

Or maybe the product isn't as bad as you think it is and many people prefer headphones with good bass like myself. MSFT spent zillions trying to launch the first version of Surface and failed spectacularly having to write off nearly a billion dollars because the product wasn't good.

+100000 to THIS. It seems like Microsoft has the world's worst sense when it comes to advertising and marketing. Their Surface Pro 3 ad was the only one that I thought was halfway decent. Everything else makes me cringe. Especially when they want to act 'hip' (think: Zune). Aieeeee!

so they pay 3 billion dollars to someone who mades Ads with sports celebrities

Top comment: I would like to see Mac vs PC ads again

Other articles, everyone is criticising Samsung for doing 'attack' ads....

This place is confusing.... :/
For the eleventh billion time, they are not even in the same league as far as classiness goes. The Apple ads were poking fun at PCs... not a specific brand either... and they were light-hearted and usually funny. The guy playing the PC (John Hodgman) was lovable. Whether you agreed with the ads or not, they didn't leave some horrendous aftertaste when it was over.

Samsung's ads are bitter, uncreative, and filled with misinformation or piss-poor examples of every day use. They also specifically bash Apple instead of being a generic statement like Apple did with their ads.

Microsoft is guilt of this as well.

Apple ads were fun, whether they were accurate or not. Sammy's ads are irritating and hard to watch. Not all of Samsung's ads are bad though. I saw one a few months ago that was just showing their products and not bashing other companies and it had a very Apple-esque feel to it. It didn't make me want to gouge out my eyes with a spoon.

Completely disagree. I think the new ads showcasing apps and what you can do with your device are great. Samsung is down in the gutter, slamming iPhone users they can only wish were their customers while Apple sits up on a pedestal not even mentioning the competition.

Except that is what sells product - Samsung style ads.

I completely agree it's not the Apple culture kind of ads that we used to know. Besides the 3:01 mark of the video looks like the girl is having sex with someone, it's unnecessary for a headphone commercial. Besides Beats uses famous people in sports like Lebron to promote the product. Apple focuses on their product to promote itself.

Is this sarcasm? I've missed it on several quotes today so I better ask. It has to be sarcasm.

the Chicken Fat and Beats ads are absolutely fantastic. Some of you people have no idea what you are talking about if you think they are not.

Of all recent Apple ads they only one I think actually worked as a product advertisment was their previous Christmas one with the boy making the family video.

Since then I have felt they are trying to be more obnoxious and less about the product. I do not care who makes the ad, just make it right.

btw Chicken fat is horrific.

My two cents on two things (four cents?):

1. Ads are never going to please everyone. I personally enjoyed the Chicken Fat ad. It was a funny throw back to when that song was used by the administration to push physical fitness in schools. I also enjoyed that Beats ad. I can't say that the sex scene (that was what that was, right?) was necessary, but I watched all 5 minutes, so that says something about it.

2. I don't want Beats to go away, and I don't think people are stupid for wearing them. If anything, I hope that Apple makes them better. I hope they work on the audio quality and force them to be the "benchmark" (as an ideal) for the price range in that product category.

Just plain bad

Hopefully this ad does not run anymore. Talking about "armor" and seeing how Neymar got literally kicked out of the tournament with a kick to the back is a little too tragically ironic.

No, hopefully this ad never ran anywhere.

First, why LBJ if this is about assoc. football and the World Cup?

Second, they add in Suarez who is a known short fuse but no (that I recognized) Spanish, Dutch, or German players representing 3 of the favored teams in the tournament. Despite that they featured England, France, and Uruguay. Really?

Third, it REALLY looks like 3 minutes in there is a woman getting frisky. People getting frisky is their business but shoving it in my face makes it my business and I am taking my business away from Beats.

That's what they said about Apple when the PC vs. Mac ads where running....

Not exactly. They pointed out market share, although Mac market share did rise during those ads while Windows declined. Yes, it was only a decline for PCs from 94% to 92% and a rise for Mac from 4% to 6%, but the directions certainly got Redmond to notice.

But really not a great comparison either way because even while Apple revenue was less than Microsoft at the time, Apple hit its own estimates and then some every time. Here Samsung is MISSING earnings expectations because of lower Android phone sales than it estimated it thought it could book. Big difference.

No Mustang, perhaps you just disagree with a lot of other people here without the tolerance to be polite about it.

Im not a fan of beats overpriced headphones, but i like their ads much better then the overly emotional dramatic ads of apple, that makes me feel like Im on a funeral rather then buying a COOL product!
The beats ads are cool, creative and very well made... Factors that apple could use more of in its ads!

The spot featured Bastian Schweinsteiger and Mario Götze (Germany) and Robin van Persie (Netherlands). I actually liked the spot, even though it was way over the top at the beginning and the end.
