While I find it interesting that you can't make your point without insulting those who don't agree with you, I have one thing to say, "Bye!"

If you can't notice the insane devotion many here have, you have issues.

This is a publicly traded company with the biggest market cap in the world.

They sell personal electronics.

Apple needs to improve the iPhone more than the leaks suggest, that's all.

I just realised that I´ll be able to upgrade/renew my contract on (or after) Sept. 22nd. If the new model is out on the 21st, that´s gonna be neat! And if it´s announced on the 12th, I might even be able to get it on launchday. That would be a first!

And if they wanna make me an especially happy bunny, they´ll include LTE that works in the EU. Unlike they did with the iPad.

Anyone who has used this phone would DEFINITELY not say it is the best phone on the market. I used one, it was kinda cool, but has seemingly endless bugs and hiccups and a weird design that doesn't allow you to use it with either one hand or two hands.

I own the S3, was getting bored with iPhone, same OS pretty much since day 1 release, owned each iphone and it's time for a change, iOS6 again, looks exactly the same, I guess if it works and sells, why change it.

I will say that the S3 is easy to hold and use and I have no bugs at all so not sure what endless bugs you are talking about, And I am a heavy user of the phone, the battery could be a little better but I guess if you want 4G, it's gonna cost ya somewhere. Other then that, the phone blows the iPhone away in my opinion, I guess it's all personal preference but the screen is awesome, very customizable, love that it has an LED indicator on the top of the phone where it belongs, A lot of the widgets are very useful for instance having 1 page dedicated to just favorite contact shortcuts to instantly call, It killed me when apple did away with the fast home button shortcut to go to favorites, again why people look other places, all the customizing stuff people wish they could do with the iPhone, they can do with the Droid. One of the best things I laugh at that we cant do with an iphone is simply use songs or tones in the phone or email to set as the ringtone, With the S3, my buddy emailed me a sound clip we liked, thought it would be funny to use as an alert so i simply saved it from the email and set in alerts, try doing something that simple on the iPhone, you have to import it, convert it, sync it, its a joke and 10x longer worth of work to just add a friggin ringtone/alert you want

Yes, when Droid was new, it sucked, I owned a bunch and test a bunch for my job and I still to this day hate Ginger bread, ICS is the best OS they have made and JellyBean is even better and as much as it kills me to say, The OS, again in my opinion, its nicer and more fun to use then iOS5, until you own one for a couple of days, dont knock it. some people think the S3 may be hard to hold because you're so used to the tiny iPhone, once you use the S3 for a little bit it's very comfortable and when I look at my wifes iPhone now it's so damn small

that being said, the huge Apple fan I am (own macbook pro's, imacs, iphones, iPads, airport extreme and use them all daily at work and home) I will be following the next iPhone release because I will still be able to get upgrades throughout my family plan and if it is more impressive then just a tiny bit more stretched screen and 4G, I will consider buying one to play with. I still think the i4 has the best build quality on the market and the s3 is more plasticky, but I more care about the larger screen and OS at this point

Here's to hoping the little rumors about T-Mobile are real this time around. I'd really like to get an iPhone. This MyTouch 4G is okay since rooting it (I can't stand HTC Sense) but, frankly, as a Mac user I like using as much of Apple's ecosystem as possible. I'd love to be rocking iCloud across all my devices.

And you're not alone either. I'm actually surprised at the number of coworkers and such that are really excited about the prospect.

I guess I'd have to see one in action but if I have a smart phone... I it doesn't seem like enough of a step up to be worth having. (Of course, there are also the people that will have an iPhone, an iPad Mini, an iPad, a MacBook of some sort and then an iMac. I really need that kind of cash!)

Someone looks insecure about his choice of phone. If your Android phone was that superior and you knew it, you wouldn't need to troll like this would you?

This doesn't even make sense. You are making an ad hominem attack when someone doesnt even have to own an android device to know that if the new phone has a bigger screen there's going to be a HUGE amount of apologists backtracking on how great bigger phones are and how 3.5 inches is the perfect size.

where did it say Sep 21 release date? this is very important for me as I fly to Asia on the 19th, so I won't be able to get it until I return (2 weeks later)... hopefully i can get it BEFORE my trip...

I hope change is coming.

I have been in love with Mac products since the first day I laid my hands on one, but here lately Apple has been leaving me cold. I hate waiting for them to catch up or take a chance on making changes. Going from a short flat brick to a longer flat brick is not innovative or revolutionary, which I though Apple was always about. If you are set on only making one phone, and only one version of that phone why not push the evelope every year?

Apple is becoming the new Microsoft, where it's all a big money grab. No one cares what the people really want, all that matters is the quaterly reports, and how much money is made.

After putting my hands on the Samsung this past weekend, I'm thinking if I don't see a huge change in desgin THIS year, I'm sorry but Im switching, and only go to Apple for desktops and Ipads.

53 days and counting....
44 days and counting until the announcement. :)

If the announcement is to be the second full week in September, it would have to be the 12th. Apple's not going to have an announcement on September 11th for obvious reasons, and announcements on a Thursday have become rare (and Monday and Friday announcements never happen).

Update: The Loop's Jim Dalrymple also weighs in on the September 12 date:
Gotta love that minimalist affirmation. :D

I believe you will need a flux capacitor in order to get the new iPhone on Sept 19.

The iPhone is getting boring and I think it's catching up with Apple in terms of sales. If Apple gave us more customizability, maybe there wouldn't be such a clamor for a new physical design. After all, it's the physical design that keeps the iPhone interesting - not what's on the screen, which is basically the same as it's been for the last five years.

I think the GS3 launch proved that people will still want new, innovative form factors, regardless of how customizable the UI is. The message boards were panning the phone's design for being dull and generic. Even the reviewers didn't think much of the physical design.

Truth is, I don't think there's anything Apple can ever do to stop some people from complaining. If they release a revolutionary device like the iPhone, it's a big fail because [fill in the blank]. If they keep things familiar and build on a solid foundation, it's boring, doesn't offer enough customizability and [fill in the blank].

Just like all Apple media events. I will anxiously be waiting like a kid waiting to come to the living room on Christmas.

My wallet is open and ready to pre-order!

Ready to pre-order as well... It's impossible to resist every time, and this one feels like its going to be a big jump in a continued amazing direction. I can't wait.

I'm curious how all the screen size/resolution matching for apps is going to be desinged. I keep imagining they might introduce some sort of smart resolution/UI layout engine/programming tools--or something-- that starts to make all apps universal for all iOS devices. iPhone, iPod, iPad, iPad mini?, apple tv? (the box and the tv?). Gotta imagine they've been looking for an elegant way to avoid 'fragmentation'. Although, I guess thy might be impossible, and they'll just be clever about how they pick their sizes relative to eachother.
