It's been said a million times before, but no one seems to hear it, so I'll say it again:

THE NANO IS A MOCKUP. It was created for a contest BEFORE the Shuffle came out. It is NOT AN APPLE PROTOTYPE!

Good lord, people.

Alright guys...seriously, you need to consider the invitation.

'Here we go again' implies an entire new venture - a new industry which Apple can totally kick everyone's ass in yet again.

The iPod revolutionized the MP3 player - it revolutionized what we now know as digital music.

An iPhone...what's that revolutionize? Think about it - it's still just a phone. A phone you can listen to songs on to! But not a 'revolution'

Apple, unless it's 'teaser' is completely false, must enter into a completely new industry - be it video, be it porn, idk, but whatever it is, it's not JUST a phone...I hope...

Well, the hard drive based iPod sure wasn't revolutionary - there were already players on the market. What it was, was a new market for Apple. The phone market is a new area for Apple, too. I'm afraid the only thing we see tomorrow is the ROKR phone, and possibly iTunes 5.0. Hope I'm wrong.

It's Steve Jobs...Remember?

This is the guy who ALWAYS does something unexpected...

However, I'm not going to lie...the iPhone sounds like such a pathetic 'revolution' that it is unexpected in itself...

I disagree.

Look at the market Apple was entering into. It was pathetic at the time, plagued by hard drive mp3s that crashed when you played certain songs and had such a difficult to use UI that they were, in a word, useless.

Apple made the hard drive MP3 player. No one, and I mean no one, has come close to achieving what Apple has achieved thus far.

A phone that plays music? Even Microsoft's pathetic 'Janus' technology is supported on phones already. If you can use a phone with a subscription service like Napster (which you can), I'm thinkin that this isn't revolutionary at all. Not even impressive.

According to the rumor site, users will be able to buy songs over Cingular's network for approximately $2 a song. This contradicts previous comments by Steve Jobs.

I don't think this contradicts Steve at all. He said that he thought that the phone companies offering songs at $2 a pop was a losing proposition. He didn't say that they wouldn't try. It's Cingular that will try to offer them at that price from their site, not ITMS.

While I would love to see an iPod video tomorrow ... I think there is a first step into video that makes more sense:

- Airport Express A/V coupled with video content available from ITMS

Why?

- iTunes already supports the playing of video
- the gap between the computer and the TV has not really been bridged (very few people even attempt to get content from their computer to their TV)
- existing enhanced podcasts already offer similiar 'chapter stops' as you would see in a DVD ... it would be likely that inexpensive remotes would allow you to change 'chapters'

As time goes on ... add more content to ITMS (ie. movies) ... when customers are used to purchasing video in this way and networks can more easily handle larger files ... add a video capable iPod.

I still believe that with a line like "here we go again", the announcement tomorrow has got to be something big that no one has yet expected. A new ipod mini and a phone that plays mp3s just aren't all that revolutionary.

Neither is a video iPod.

You're hoping for the porn industry...aren't you? JOKING!

Please be a vPod...please be a vPod...please be a vPod...please be a....

I'm voting for the iPorn !!

Oh, wait, that's what the iSight is for. 😛

Revolution, eh?

'Here we go again' implies an entire new venture - a new industry which Apple can totally kick everyone's ass in yet again.

The iPod revolutionized the MP3 player - it revolutionized what we now know as digital music.

Apple had previous experience in digital music, through iTunes. MP3 players already existed, but the market wasn't doing well.

So we simply find another market where Apple has previous experience, that is in need of "revolutionizing".

Like PDAs...

Come on Newton 2.0! (with a less crappy name)

I've even got a slogan (provided the N2 comes with WiFi): "The entire world. In your pocket."

I've heard word that iTunes will soon be offering a subscription model (contrary to Jobs' previous words).

Maybe that is what will "revolutionize?" Maybe they will announce that you will be able to actually stream music to the new itunes phone over Cingulars new high speed network?

Exactly - it could be any industry in need of a facelift. Maybe PDAs, maybe video (which honestly does need a facelift...), maybe....porn....

History will show....

Apple to once have been firstly a computer company, then a consumer device company (with iPods, iPhones, iCamCorders, iTVbox, iDontThinkSo, etc) 😛

Will the iPod not be announced tomorrow but announced at the Paris Expo as a way to give the event some attention, now what with no keynote?

Also, will we ever see the return of the 'Expo' to Japan - Apple's #2 market in all areas of their current business?

oh thank god! finally I'll be able to download music while I'm drinking coffee and speeding through rush hour traffic on the highway in the morning! and for only $2 a pop! yeah, baby! it's about time!

YEAH!

Meanwhile, analysts reported that interest in an Apple-branded iTunes phone appears to generate a significant amount of interest based on a small 200-person survey.

Really. Who did they survey? Apple employees?

"You have two choices: you can either say you're looking forward to the iTunes Phone, therefore keeping your employment here. Or, you can say you're not looking forward to it and find yourself in that long line at the unemployment office next week. Your choice! Go Apple!"

😀

iTunes phone the only thing coming tomorrow then eh? Wow.... sounds super exciting....

Is it not possible that apple releases itunes 5.0 with Video Store and no video iPod until November? More likely, it will be music videos for sale and an iPod Video. Maybe 2 versions? A mini and a widescreen full size iPod? I was sure there was no iPod Video on the way this soon, but why send invites hinting a new revolution if it is only a itunes phone or an iPod Mini? I am going to guess there will be a refreshed line of mini's, the phone, and the movie store with no video iPod yet.

It seems about right, leave everyone bitter-sweat. The Movie Store with no iPod video yet. Or maybe it will launch with iPod updaters that enable iPod photos to play video as well? That would make more sense, I think the widescreen iPod is 6 months down the line. The Movie Store with color iPod supported would be nice and would seem about right. I am guessing there will be one big announcement and then two small apple site releases. No keynote means it can't be huge. I still think there would be more rumors about the video store/ vPod if it were to actually be released. It could just be a poorly thought out invite?

The Announcement

We need someone online tomorrow at 10:00 pacific to give us updates as soon as they take place. The Apple home page hasn't changed in like...3 weeks...they're still bragging about having a 2 button mouse (which I hate, btw).

Hmmm....

Didn't Apple used to make something before mp3 players? I think it was com, comp, computers, that's it! On the laptop side, a dual boot Linux/windoze box is looking better...How many iPods do they expect people to buy?

It's obviously not all about the iTunes enabled phone tomorrow. Who is honestly stupid enough to do that?

It's the iPod video and some new Mini kind of things. The phone will be mentioned. Mark my words.
